  1. Well, the Kerry-ites have a jump on us when it comes to indulging in the Five-Minutes' Hate. Still no released footage of their little convention festivities, huh? Fuggin' cowards. Don't want to let the real them be seen. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  2. Mike, those are the kinds of books that I would buy only with cash, at a gun show. Not giving my name and personal info on the internet where others could detect that I had availed myself of them. Anonymously is the only way to buy stuff like that. Blue skies, - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  3. Books? Information? Boy, we'll really be in a shit-world if we start trying to limit what people are allowed to learn. I know that there are countries that ban publication of various books (England has a history of this), but that shit won't fly here in the U.S. (Actually, I read a history of Mad Magazine that says that there were efforts to censor it, even at levels of government. Disturbing.) What if they did make it a crime to print and obtain books on things like improvised munitions? Would they criminalize teaching such knowledge to others? Of course such efforts would run afoul of the first amendment, until some liberal tried to liken teaching improvised munitions to yelling "fire" in a crowded theater and claimed no protection for that sort of speech. I'm sure Schumer would lead that idiotic crusade, too. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  4. Um, especially when there is little to no reason that the restrictions will accomplish any crimefighting objective. Paying a cost to not get anything delivered is just stoopid -- and typical of what the Liberals want to make us do. It is no surprise to me that the figurehead of this bullshit on the t.v. news was Chuck Schumer. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  5. I make kickass chili -- the secret is a load of different kinds of beans (like five or six) and green pepper and black olives. My beef stew is my pride, though. Oh, god is that good! Blue skies, - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  6. Well, heck -- I'll donate to rebuild that thing. Besides, it leaked like a sieve so it was time for a new one anyway. All the gear was out of it though, right? Has anyone set up a "rebuild Sebastian" fund yet? Let me know when they do. P.S. It must feel really good to have made the wise decision to send the plane to Crosskeys, given what probably would have happened. Congrats to whoever was involved in making that happen. It's good to have a safe airplane, even if it's far away for the time being. (Hey, how about keeping the Caravan and instead, sending the Otter back down? ) Blue skies, - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  7. Maybe now you see the stupidity that people constantly engage in: blaming a president for legislative mistakes. Now, I don't know if NAFTA was veto-proof; but if you think it is bad, and if Clinton wasn't willing to go along with it, you have to grant that he could have vetoed it, right? And even if it was veto-proof, the mark of a man who stands up for what he believes in would be to veto it even if the veto would be doomed to be overridden. Of course, Bill Clinton was never a man with the strength of his convictions. That's where the bullshit story of how he "didn't inhale" came from. Remember? Clinton? Lying all the time? Remember? - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  8. Um, Kennedy, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't just as happy if people who support the ban don't contact their legislators. There's no reason to wish for your opposition to be organized. It's not the same as trying to prevent them from getting their representative government. I would just as soon liberals never voted again, much less contacted their legislators to urge them to extend harmful, useless legislation. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  9. It's just... where does it stop, Quade? The same argument ("Someone could do something evil with it") can be applied to fertilizer, kitchen knives, guns, gasoline, diesel fuel, chainsaws, wood chippers. If we want to require I.D. and a paper trail for the purchase of every item that can be used to cause havoc or harm, we'd never get anything done because our lives would be spent filling out forms. And this is really just sticking one finger in one crack in the dyke. There are thousands of other cracks, so why single this one out? Every week, I buy enough gasoline to do a HUGE amount of damage to lives and property. Just imagine if I went around some house late at night where a family was sleeping, and doused it with gasoline all over -- even just one gallon, not the typical 9 or so gallons I buy each week -- and lit it on fire! And I didn't have to give my I.D. when I bought that gasoline! Think about the fertilizer thing: they want to I.D. people who buy the fertilizer half of a fertilizer/fuel-oil bomb! But if you look at each half of that bomb, it's the FUEL OIL (diesel) that is dangerous on its own -- yet that's the half that no one is demanding we produce I.D. in order to purchase! It's asinine, ignorant hand-wringing -- the earmark of the Left. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  10. Well, what do you know -- the NBC Nightly News does a story just now on how that evil substance, ammonium nitrate, can -- *GASP* -- be purchased without a background check!! So who do you think they showed a sound bite of, calling for what, essentially, is "fertilizer control"? UpChuck Schumer. Needless to say, I'm not surprised he's the poster-boy for more bureaucratic "_____-control" from big, useless government. What a shitstain that man is. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  11. Not only do some people disagree with his actions when he returned (badmouthing all other veterans all the way up the chain of command), there is plenty of reason -- based on what he himself admitted to doing -- to disagree with his actions in the field. He described cutting off ears, killing innocents, torching villages, and claimed that he did it like everyone else supposedly did. The question was posed: "Would it matter to you when choosing your president wether he skipped his duty with the army?" I ask, would it matter to you when choosing yoru president whether he admitted to having tortured and killed innocent human beings? Why is this question not being treated as relevant?! In my view, it's a whole lot more germain to a person's character than whether he took a cushy assignment with the National Guard! Hmmm.... let's see... "Avoided serious service / tortured and murdered..." I'll go with the slacker every time. At least a slacker can develop a work ethic and redeem himself. What does an an admitted torturer/murderer like Kerry do to cleanse his soul? Oh, that's right, he renounces the war effort and trashes his comrades. And then runs on the record of his war service. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  12. I hope I'm not the only one who, when he reads a post by skr, can't help but hear in his head: "Just two good ol' boys never meanin' no harm Beats all you never saw, been in trouble with the law since the day they was born Straight'nin' their curves Flatt'nin' their hills Someday the mountain might get 'em but the law never will Makin' their wayyyyy the only way they know how That's just a little bit more than the law would allow... Am I right, there, Uncle Jesse?
  13. Yeah, no apology accepted for a time-wasting, no-clicky post that didn't even have a longhand, cut-and-pastable URL! What kinda crap is that?! Blue skies, - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  14. Perhaps, but I still have my taste buds -- bud. No nuked can of chilli is ever going to beat something I've cooked in a crock pot for 12 hours. When I make chili, I do it in a huge 12-quart pot on the stovetop and it comes out kick-ass good! I never have used a crock pot for it, nor taken more than two or three hours to get it done. Why would it be so much better in a crock pot? (I don't know of any 3 gallon crock pots, by the way...) And I love it when it's reheated in the microwave! It even gets better!
  15. More like, "If it falls, how many tens of thousands of houses will it hit?" Blue skies, - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  16. Um, I'm about 210 at exit. Do the math. I'll ride the planes. I imagine that's a ride to full altitude. A "low altitude" jump at 14,000 feet would probably be a lot cheaper. Blue skies, - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  17. That's because in none of those places did the conquerors actually truly kill all of the people in those places and colonize them with their own. Sure, we can say that half-measures aren't working/haven't worked in all those other places. It's precisely because they're half-measures. I guess the one solution that hasn't been tried is to LET GO OF SOME FUCKING LAND, give people a new "country," and say "THAT'S IT. DON'T THINK THAT MORE TERRORISM WILL GET YOU MORE LAND. If you try that we WILL come and OBLITERATE you for breaking the faith of this deal." It's amazing how obstinate countries can be. It costs them thousands of lives every year. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  18. Dude, spend a week consciously tracking how many of the people you meet you really feel are living a life of love and forgiveness. I think that's a load of shit. Almost NO ONE does it, even when they call themselves "Christian." At least non-religious people get to live just like the religious people also live but don't have to be called hypocrites when they fail to live up to the commandments or the bible, since they never swore they would. When people pick and choose which of the commandments to adhere to, they make a mockery out of their claim to be religious. You know what they call a person who picks and chooses the laws he lets himself be bound by? A criminal. NO ONE is truly religious, if religious means they really work at living by the tenets of their religion. This may be in part because religions are so contradictory that you can't even figure out exactly what they would have you do! Let's see... are we supposed to kill homosexuals or not? - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  19. Fucking idiots. This is what a society gets when it goes out of its way to be nice to criminals when the purpose of the justice system is supposed to be to protect society itself. The fucking guy's kid is named for a lethal poison. Nice. I wonder if it's illegal for him to call the kid by his name in an airport. Like if you named your kid "Bomb." -- "Have you seen my Bomb? I brought little Bomb into the airport, trying to get on the plane, and now I can't find my Bomb!" "I let a little Sarin loose here in the airport and now I can't find Sarin! I hope Sarin doesn't cause any trouble!" Sure, maybe in this guy's language Sarin is a normal name. Whatever. I think this judge who ruled the guy can't be deported should have to put him up in her own fuckin' house. Since when is your family's dependence on you a get-out-of-trouble-free card?! I guess I should go father a bastard child and then I could go on crime sprees of my own. Then I could just say, "Your honor, really, you can't send me to jail -- think of how unfair that'll be to my kid, who I won't be able to take to the cinema!" What a fucking joke. Congratulations, Canada -- keep earning that "terrorists' haven" reputation! Soft on crime will get you all kinds of goodies! - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  20. I agree with all of this, essentially, except for the part where you apparently believe that it is up to the president, somehow, to "allow" stem cell research. The president does not make the laws. If stem cell research is forbidden, it is because of Congress, not the president, so get on the letter writing campaign to them. The thing I agree most with is where you say we need to move beyond this bullshit old archtype of letting religion instead of reason guide how we see the world, because all it is is divisive and hate-inspiring. People of one religion will always distrust and dislike people of other religions, even (and especially?) when their religion says to be "tolerant." If we all just thought of ourselves as human beings trying to exist and keep ourselves comfortable and safe and secure in a cold universe, we'd all coexist a lot more peacefully and happily and in cooperation with each other. I'm ready for that, and I'm an atheist. It's the religious people holding us back, and I'll stand by that assertion for a lonnng time. Blue skies, - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  21. Wondering if that "everything" includes the gear store... I sure hope so! I plan to get a ProTrack from there eventually. Oooh, maybe they'll have a "blowout sale." Okay, I know, bad joke. Sure glad they got the plane moved. Was it unharmed where they moved it to? - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  22. Dave, there are all kinds of losers running around with girlfriends even though they're total asshats. And there are lots of good guys who can't seem to meet a decent girl. Go figure. (Nothing guarantees that this guy's girlfriend is any prize, though...) - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  23. Gorram right! And no power in the 'verse can stop me! Blue skies, - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  24. In this case I can't see the Russians acheiving any kind of peace in Chechnya by taking a "we don't negotiate with terrorists" stance. If your enemy is prepared to die for it's cause and it can gather endless recruits then getting tough just gets your people killed. The only way I can see to ensure that this tragedy doesn't happen again is to go for a political solution of some kind. So if you "negotiate," or "compromise," or "capitulate," and give them, say, their own chunk of land or something, whatever it is that's got them all riled, why would you think they wouldn't decide that any time they want more from you they could just start up with more terrorist attacks?? I mean, to let it work means you are telling them that they have found the secret to getting what they want from you!! - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  25. Thank you for the compliment. I'm sure there are those who will disagree. I just have to say that I tell it like I see it, and often I strip away the diplomatic fluff that I could shroud my points in to make them sound more agreeable. Some see that as gruff. Okay you little minx, now you're gettin' me all hot and bothered! It's not that it's rare to find a chick who digs having her toes sucked ('specially when it's your specialty , it's just rare that one says she'd hop a plane to check it out with you! Wishin' you weren't happily attached... (wait, that doesn't sound quite like what I mean!)... P.S. Did I mention I'm realllly oral -- both fixated and gifted? Good with my hands, too... - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
