  1. I understand that this is the "law of the land," but I have never agreed with it. There are WAY LOT of laws that you have never heard of, and not of the common-sense "everybody-knows-this-act-is-wrong" kind like the laws against murder and stealing. There is no way for the average citizen to keep abreast of what laws are in the statute books, and what laws are added. And don't forget that the applicable laws can change wildly from town to town, county to county, state to state. It is inconceivable to be mindful of them all. Therefore it is NOT fair to hold someone to obey arcane laws that are passed in obscurity and enacted without widespread publication, public notice or fanfare. The more difficult-to-believe a law is -- especially when it seems clearly to run afoul of the First Amendment -- the more I feel people should not be prosecuted under it. -Jeffrey -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... 3. What would be required of us to believe that Bush planned 9/11 is for us to think that Bush is actually a completely mad, psychopathic murderer of the James-Bond-Villain variety. That's really out-there, dude. Even for Democrats. It is one thing to be circumspect, and to be ready and willing to evaluate conflicting information, and it is altogether different to give equal credence to preposterous ideas. Stop and wonder, fine. Stop and wonder if it was Bush acting under the mind-control rays of Martians, not fine. -Jeffrey -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  4. Bill, I was referring to the post, not the person. I guess that wasn't clear, though. I can see how that sentence could be taken either way. I recall being directly called a troll in another thread. Not sure how that one turned out, though. I was notified by someone that he had indeed been banned, but I don't know if it was the person who called me that. Anyway, I won't call people trolls. -Jeffrey -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  5. What did this prove to you? Do you realize there are people who "take the time" to devise schemes to defraud the elderly out of their retirement savings? Do you realize there are people who "take the time" to telephone prospective voters to lie and tell them that their voting precinct has moved, so that they will go to the wrong place and possibly never get to vote? Your comment either shows naivete or a willfull self-deception. The fact that the person "took the time to go door to door should not have created in you the impression that his information was either true or even valuable. -Jeffrey -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... 6. Oooh, a silhouette target! Good thing you're not living in Massachusetts, where silhouette targets are banned. (I guess the fear is that if a person shoots at silhouette targets, he'll develop a madness that causes him to wish to murder human beings. And everyone knows that shooting at circular targets does not enable one to become deadly accurate for anything other than additional circular targets. i.e. someone practicing so that he can accurately shoot humans won't develop any skill at it if all he shoots at are non-human-silhouette targets.) -Jeffrey -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... 8. Why single mine out? If you feel compelled to mention that you think a given thread is stupid, you have a lot of work ahead of you, 'cause this ain't the only one by a long shot. -Jeffrey -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"

  11. Please pass along a repeat "thank you" for doing that two-way with me on Sunday. I had a great time, and it was all because he went out of his way to join me on what would otherwise have been a plain old solo skydive. I'm new to ... well, not just RW but everything, and I had never really seriously "turned points" like we did. In the past, jumping with other low timers like myself, I was just happy enough to successfully dock with them! Drew, if you see this -- or friends of Drew, if you could tell him; "I wanted to buy you a beer at the end of the day but I didn't see you leave Skydive Sebastian. Next time you're around or I'm around, round's on me!"
  12. We have a very serious sport here; it gets dangerous and sometimes people die. As much as I feel sympathy for those who die in skydiving accidents, I feel sympathy also for their friends, particularly for those who watch, helpless, as their friends die. I read Lou Diamond's very mature and professional account of Chris Martin's fatal skydive and felt a wave of sympathy for Lou about having had to witness his friend's death. I certainly hope that he and the others who were on the scene can find peace. From what I have read now of Chris, his loss is monumental to skydiving, not just to his family and friends. I am not used to being involved in activities at which people can easily die. I mean yes, I'm a pilot, and yes, I go surf kayaking, and I know that of course pilots crash and kayakers drown... but now I'm a skydiver, and I have seen just... so... many... people here state that they have watched friends die. The unfortunate death of Chris Martin (whom I did not know but respect heartily just by virtue of his reputation and history) has got me thinking about this. I have been fortunate enough in my year + of skydiving that I have not seen so much as a serious injury -- heck, I've barely even seen a handful of bad landings, and the longer I go, the more blessed I feel for it. (I assure you, I do not take for granted my good fortune in that area.) So I have a hard time even conceiving what it must be like to witness a fatality. I pray I never have to. How have those of you who have suffered this kind of loss felt and dealt with the feelings? I don't mean to stir up sadness, but I am trying to understand this. It's a reality I may someday (hopefully not) have to face. Thanks, -Jeffrey -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"

  14. Every single attack listed before GWB was even elected to the office of President, much less sworn in. Hell, looking at the numbers it looks like every single one of those attacks happened on Clinton's watch. - Jim Come on, Jim, you gave Jerry credit for being willing to look at FACTS, when he clearly has an axe to grind against Bush? What's wrong with you? Liberals won't admit to FACTS that contradict the lies they try to promulgate. All they do is pretend they don't exist and hope they'll fade away. Do you think Jerry is going to come back and say, "Oh yeah, you're right, my point was erroneous, I take it back"?! -Jeffrey -Jeffrey -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... 15. Kerry is just a freaky-lookin' dude, people. His head looks like it was in the comics, and some kid plastered Silly Putty on it and then stretched it -- teeth and all! (It's funny and it's sad) -Jeffrey -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  16. Okay. Suuuure. Your post, "I was hand delivered some very interesting information" has all the ring of truth that the telemarketers have when they leave me voicemail saying, "We'll be in your area this week with a special offer." What kind of importance does "hand delivered" impart? Does the fact that it was "hand delivered" to you, like some secret microfilm in a bad spy movie, make it so much more compelling? You don't say who delivered it, or who you are and why you're so special to be the recipient of such damning evidence. I don't understand how if it is so damning of Bush, somehow it has not been mined by the hordes of media people who would flay their own mothers to dig up something like that. Your post is ridiculous. Seems totally to be a troll, to me. -Jeffrey -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  17. When we are dealing with an enemy that doesn't give a shit whether reporters uphold principles of noncombat, it is, in my opinion, STUPID for reporters to not avail themselves of the means of self defense. That doesn't mean carry a gun and fire it as part of a mission; it simply means "have a gun to use in a pinch to possibly defend your own life." Why adhere to outmoded principles that are not honored or respected by the enemy?! I think that the only thing the stupid jerk did wrong was let out the word that some journalists were armed. Are we dealing with an enemy that will kill all of an enemy military unit if they can, but leave the embedded reporter alive, because they're so noble and principled and observe his non-combatant status? NO. So there is no reason to try to maintain a useless and archaic non-combatant-type status for reporters. It is not fair to blame Rivera for being unwilling to go out in harm's way with no means of defending himself. If that CARE lady had had a gun herself, and had she not eschewed armed escorts, they together might have fought off her kidnapers. -Jeffrey -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... 18. That's a classic use of that line, dude.
  19. If that's really true, then I imagine you must have developed quite a pleasing technique by now, and I request that you make me #2073.

  21. Come on, folks. Look at this pic. Tell me that Kerry is not one scary-looking motherfucker! Bush looks relatively normal, but Kerry... Jesus, that fuckin' head is misshapen! It's no wonder that the brain inside didn't develop right! Really, check out the pic and try to tell me he's not a weird-lookin' dude. His teeth are like seriously abnormally long... P.S. I'm posting a JPG. Please tell me if this thing saves as a JPG for you, or a BMP, because every time I try to save a posted pic it comes out as a BMP for me! ARRGH!! -Jeffrey -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  22. Hmmm... It's unfortunate that the Republicans don't have the star-power of a bunch of megamillionaire recording artists and actors (you know, "everymen" who are so sympathetic to the plight of the middle class) who are willing to sing their hit songs on behalf of leftist socialists like Kerry... Shucks. Sean Penn and Leonardo DiCaprio and Bruce Springsteen shill for Kerry. I can barely think of a better reason not to vote for that schmuck. You wanna say that you think like Leonardo DiCaprio?! -Jeffrey -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  23. That's where our agreement ends. I see infringement after infringement coming from the left, because they are a very threatened-feeling lot. They see gangbangers shooting people. They respond by telling YOU and ME that we can't have guns. And they're not even the kinds of guns that the gangbangers are using! How can you say that nonsensical infringements come from the right when you have that kind of crap coming from the left? -Jeffrey -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  24. You're partisan! You're right though. Both sides when looked at as a collective have their strengths and weaknesses, faults and good qualities. But I'll take pull-for-peace over violations-of-civil-rights-for-safety. I guess you mean like, "Gun-free zones"? -Jeffrey -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  25. "'Bless me'? You know what God did for me? He threw an 18-wheel truck at me, bounced me into nowhere for five years. When I woke up my job was gone, my--my girl was gone... my legs are just about useless! 'Bless me'? God's been a real sport to me!" -Johnny Smith "The Dead Zone" -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
