LILLO XMAS BOOGIE, WHOS GOING?
Andrewnewell replied to Andrewnewell's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Hiya, just wondering who'll be going to the Lillo Xmas boogie. I hear its gonna be kick ass! -
Just heard that a free beer tanker maybe arriving for the Xmas boogie. Does anyone know if thats on the level????
-
Hey dude, You should defiantly give Lillo a go. Its promising to be a kicking boogie. they've got a beech 99 coming in, organizing with Babylon and the resident team Euphoria so if freeflys your thing you should be happy with that. The weather shouldn't be a problem as the Dz is way in land. For more info check out www.freeflyeuphoria.com Were gonna go ballistic!

The Micron is with out a doubt the best container and harness system I have used. It's ergonomic design (especialy the contoured yoke) and extra wide leg straps give the flyer unparalleled comfort both in freefall and under canopy. The quality and strength of the materials used to create a micron and its "bullet proof" design create a sense of absolute trust in its ability to function correctly every time. Strong, comfortable, reliable, Are three words that I would choose to describe this kit.

Skydiving in Southern Spain
Andrewnewell replied to GeordieSkydiver's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Check out Skydive Lilo, not really s Spain but its a good allround DZ, very friendly! Its near Madrid. -
This is for basic group head up stuff. Firstly you've gotta know where everyone is in you group and where their supposed to be. If your on a load with some low experienced people in your group and you lose sight of one of them you must assume that their behind you somewhere ( worst case above and behind)! It basically means that you must check your intended tracking route is clear before going for it. Ok say that you are breaking at a reasonable altitude (5 grand ) There is no need for everyone to just flip onto their backs and start tracking immediately. you should acknowledge the altitude and slowly transition from your head up position to your tracking position trying to keep visuals with all of the other flyers in your group, try to keep visuals with them all the way until deployment time. If your finding that from the head up position to the back track position it feels like your being flipped up backwards with your legs, try to go from the head up pos then into a crunched( ball) position as to decrease your speed gently, then once on the back straighten out into an efficient back track position remembering to try to keep visuals as you roll over. Doing a 180 in the track to check the air space is clear above is a good idea. Im not so sure what you mean by doing it in the vertical? Is it so that you are head down before break off so that you can track away on the belly as opposed to the back? if that is the case, then you still haven't confirmed that theres no one behind you. not such a great idea. If your group are all head down, I think it is better to turn and track way checking your route, then rolling over into the bellydown track to check out where everyone else is. Try to stay away from abrupt speed changes on group dives and keep the visuals!!!

sponsorships a bugger! The main thing is to ask your self what have I got to offer this company? Not what you would want from them. List down the main things you could offer and then try and write a proposal of some sort. Obviously freeflying is a great looking even to the un trained eye. use stills and video footage could be included in your proposal ( a picture paints a thousand words), especially if your trying to sell your team as an advertising platform of some sort?Thats all I really know about trying to obtain sponsorship, Im far from being a guru at that stuff. Good luck.

Check out Steve Blincoe and sean McMac's school, think their still based in lake wales, may have moved due to the storm that hit there a few weeks ago. I saw them coaching out in Florida, both on the DZ and at the tunnle and it looked as though they were running a great package.

As the season gets starting my team trys to train as much as we can, because you never know if the weathers gonna last in this country. But theres no real reason to kick the ass out of it! Heres something that you could use... Make up some flash cards with certain moves on them (pref compulsory's). Early on I would recommend that you randomly choose two of them ( like raffle draw) and try to do the two moves in the sequence there drawn. if theres a maneuver that you try and cant achieve, then put that move in a separate group, after a while you will have two distinct groups of cards( stuff you can do and stuff you cant). make up dives with the stuff you can do (only two at a time, if just starting) to practise transitioning from maneuvers and speed changes. and from the other group of cards pick only one of the harder moves, try to figure out what went wrong/how to make it work and do jumps where you just practice that particular move. I think this is a good way of doing drill dives that keep things interesting as its always gonna be random. If your really stuck on some of the harder moves dont keep cracking on until everyone's ballbagged, stop and get intouch with your coach, go back to doing some of the easier stuff. Once you've got everything cracked then start putting three or more moves in one dive, trying not to rush things and concentrating on the basics. slow and controlled better than fast and sloppy! Huurrgghhyeah

Firstly make sure you know where everyone stands on the team(Are they in it for fun? or are you gonna compete seriously?).Also make it clear where you stand and what you want to achieve. dont be pressured in having to be part of that team. Out line your goals as a team and then and see if theres any conflicting ideas/ direction. if there is then try to compromise, but dont lose sight of your own goals. If its all good I suppose you make a commitment and honor it. I think the most important thing is to be honest with each other right from the start! For training I think it is best that all the team members are of roughly the same experience and all have the same amount of drive when it comes to training. Ithink it is best to get coached by the same coach individually when starting your team training and then then coming together as a team under that persons guidance. I would be in favor of doing two training camps. One at the start of the season so you can have a firm base to work from, with everybody singing off the same song sheet for a couple of months, And then a smaller training camp with the same coach a few weeks before competition to iron out some of the problems you maybe experiencing. Its maybe a good idea to try and get someone else (someone who knows what there talking about) to take a look at what your doing, in between your main training camps. A fresh pair of eyes can really help. If you have only just started to jump with your new team mates concentrate on doing basic controlled dives. it is important to learn how each of you communicates in the air and how each other flys.work on creating a solid foundation with each other. once you got that right then get creative! Keep a healthy balance of training and doing fun dives.( even though they should all be fun, well you know what Imean) If there is any problems, dont cover them up, address them! good team motto should be " no bull shit". Have fun

Helicopter school at Netherhavon?
Andrewnewell replied to Andrewnewell's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Thats arse! Cheerz for the spell check! -
Yeah, anythings possible. always thought it would be cool to do that sort of thing un linked and then rotate the "box". A sort of four way atmonauti carve?! I dont think your gonna get much practice in the UK now the seasons over. but Id still love to have a go at it, maybe next year. You should come out to Lillo over Xmas, there should be some scope for trying out some intergrated angled flight. For details check out freeflyeuphoria .com

Helicopter school at Netherhavon?
Andrewnewell replied to Andrewnewell's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Does anyone know if the rumors are true that there is now a full time helicopter school at Netherhavon DZ? If so thats gonna royaly mess that place up, its bad enough with the high winds and its other issues. A full time helicopter training facility is gonna seriously mess with the jump programe! -
Thanks bro, That makes sense. gonna have to do a bit more practise to nail it!
-
Hey everybody, has anyone got any suggestions on how to move back and forward in the side track orientation, with out falling off onto the back or front? Is there a standard position that is adopted that increases stability while attempting to move in relation with another side flyer? I tend to have to move a lot with the legs to stay on the side. Cheers
-
Yeah the new suits ideal, the fits good and you look cool in those colours! Also the fabric is good cos you can use that suit for fly fishing in the rain. No point wasting money on waders
-
In the long run there is no static freefly body position, we should always be compensating and reacting. I would say the different positions you describe differ in degrees of style, probably not function. I say fly them all chicka, If your where you wanna be and in control, then who cares. Dont think feel, its like a finger pointing to the moon, Blah blah blah
-
You guys rocked, See you in the A's next year Champion chica. P.S. Am leaving the obvious, cheers for the advice!

Getting the regional's back in swing would be a good move if ya ask me, but I know this would all depend on how much interest this years nationals get. We'll have to see. May I suggest that the BPA organize an event that concentrates on individual flyers and not just teams? A mate of mine mentioned an idea for an event that I thought was really cool. I'm not gonna go into it on here as it will bore everyone. But I will say that the event would cater for persons with FF1 and FS1 in an (B) cat and a more advanced cat (a) which would require flyers to have FF2 and FS1. It would be arranged as a money meet and would include, fs, ff, and canopy handling. Would it be ok for me to give you a call later and discuss this. cant go into it to much as I,m off to lillo.

Hey bro, would love to come out to your neck of the woods and do some ball stuff around easter! Will be doing a fair bit of ball stuff in Lillo over the coming months, so me and a few of my guys should be pretty current! Would love to bring a Brit contingent out to the states for a competition easter next year. what would be the requirements ( AD licenses ect ) for entering these games?
-
Yo piers, whats happening? You thinking of doing something dedicated to ball stuff over easter? I still dont know what Im doing at the moment with ref to crimbo, but would be able to sort out a trip around easter way in advance. Hope fully the Army will be dishing out the redundancies soon! Im buying! cant be arsed with this job, lets piss off to the states and freefly!
-
this one goes out to All you brit freeflyers out there. A while ago the BPA thinned out the UK freefly regional's due to lack of competitors, leaving only the nationals. There isn't to my knowledge any other real competitive freefly events held in the UK anymore { could be misinformed }. What would be the general feeling amongst the Freefly population in regards to having more competitive events in the UK And also what type of comps would people want to go to?
-
Ahh the wookmeister, how the devil? Are you gonna be making a special guest appearance at the nationals with the rest of us turkeys, or are you gonna be doing a black hawk ( lynx )down? Get your arse back to nethers! We gotta a lot of good flyers down there at the mo. sort your self a scratch team out for the forthcoming prestigious ( cheers for that ) nationals.

Try this if you think your camp enough. 1 guy is rear float in the position for launching a sit exit. right hand on the rail crossing the body and the left hand left loose hanging between the legs of the 2nd guy! { sounding dodgy already}. 2nd guy is behind 1st guy with his right leg over the right shoulder of 1st guy{ or as high as you can get it} with his right hand holding onto the 1st guys leg strap and left hand on the rail. The key is given and both guys step off grabbing each others leg straps. ensuring that both guys legs run down the sides of each others containers the two guys then sit on each others arse's.{ 2nd guy is head down and 1st guy is in a sit fly}. This maneuver is known as the two bummed squirrel. "ITS PROPER BO I TELL THEE"
