Imagine a line. On one end you have Signed English, which is exactly what it sounds like. Every single english word is represented. On the other end is ASL (American Sign Language), which really is its own language with its own grammar and syntax. In the middle is Pidgin Signed English which essentially combines the two, but doesn't follow strict rules from either. To answer your question (and anyone knowing better please feel free to correct me if you disagree), the, a, of, would have a representation in Signed English, and possibly Pidgin Signed English depending who you are and who you're signing with, but not ASL. Sign systems are a totally different animal, and I've only come across those in a classroom setting and one or two older Deaf people who grew up learning them. ~skysprite

I hug everyone too, unless it's painfully obvious they're not the huggy type. Then I'll respect that. But other than that, you're getting a hug dammit! ~skysprite

It's 12:47AM now and just got home from work a bit ago. I'm setting my alarm clock to get up at 3:30AM to go back. I must have pulled the short straw for schedules this weekend! Send me some awake-vibes tomorrow, would ya?? ~skysprite

Doing well here, everything considered! I did take my parents to dinner tonight and totally blew through my limit though. Don't think I'll hop on the scale tomorrow... I'll give it a day or two to reverse tonight's damage. But it was worth it. -
Did I miss it? How was the wedding, Skymama?

Ok folks, my concert is tomorrow evening! Got the corset, mesh top for underneath (it's cold ), skirt, fishnet leggings, boots etc., so now I just need the "makeup design!" Gimme some tips! I've always sucked with eyeliner... is there any hope for me as a goth?? Borrowed my boss' digital camera, so pix to follow after the event. ~skysprite

There's really no standard "good" answer. When someone asks me that, I tend to think about who they are, why they're asking, if they really care about my answer or if they're just throwing the question out so they can follow it up with "I could never do that" after I answer, and so forth. My answer for a friend or loved one is going to be more thoughtful and detailed than my answer for some guy who noticed my skydiving tshirt or bumper sticker and who maybe has an interest but is mostly just making conversation. I try to tailor my answer to my audience because my reasons for jumping are many, and based on the person asking the question maybe I'll answer honestly, or I'll make a joke, or I'll give a thrilling account of why I jump and then try to sell them on trying a tandem skydive, etc. ~skysprite

DZ.com HEALTH & FITNESS Challengers...I Admit to Being a Slacker!!
skysprite replied to ACMESkydiver's topic in The Bonfire
It was a good feeling to pull my winter clothes out of storage, try on my jeans from last winter, and find that I can put them on and take them off without unbuttoning or unzipping! Regardless of my summer weight loss setback, I'm back, and I've been able to reverse all but three pounds of the damage I did over the summer. And I'm working on losing those three to get back to my low weight from earlier this year, then more after that. For now, for me, it's all about watching what I eat and trying to get as much exercise in as possible, considering I don't have access to a gym. Come Spring, I'm signing up for a local couch to 5k program, so that when my sister gets stationed in Hawaii, I can go visit her and we can run the beaches together! ~skysprite -
