Hah! Now I have it in print!! You can't go back now. How about if I pack for you? I THINK I can do it correctly. J/K. Upon advice of many, I will be focusing strictly on my A for the next few jumps. I will be out in Lodi on Saturday for a good part of the day. Hopefully I will be there for a couple of jumps on Sunday too. See you there!!

Maybe it is just me, but I get the feeling I should be working on my 'A'. Well, with the purchase of a rig this week, I will barely have jump $$ for awhile let alone pay for some coaching. And, I can't seem to talk SO into getting a second job to pay for my ADDICTION. Not sure what her problem is, guess she is just selfish. Here ye, here ye!! FREE coaches sign up here!!! Don't be shy now..... Yeah I know, nothing good in life comes free. Jeff

Buying my first rig this week. A used Triathlon 175 (loaded 1.17) and Cypress equiped Wings container.

Hmm, I could use some new moves Just can't tell SO, for some reason I think she would get angry AND bitter. Yes, I was supposed to come out for that big BBQ but the weather sucked and when I called manifest that morning they said there would only be H & P's. I read that I missed out on a great time and some full altitude jumps.... If the weather holds, I will come to Byron this Saturday. I will even have my own rig (slighlty used but it will be mine) by then. SWEET, no more renting and kissing off $$$. That means I will be making my first jump on my own gear over there!! BEER/WINE!! Greetings, I have a total of 20 jumps most of which are solos after graduating. I have been doing flips, barrel rolls and 360's. I would like to introduce something new (not overly difficult) while continuing perfecting the above mentioned skills (still a bit wobbly on them). Any suggestions and how-to's would be greatly appreciated. Jeff

So I ditch work for a bit after lunch, head out to the DZ and the 182 is out and about. Manifest real quick gear up-no jump-suit and run to the plane. I get to ride with two students, one is on her first static and the other is on a 10 sec. delay. Fun to watch!! After they jump it is just me and the pilot up to 10K. Hang off the strut and I am gone. I just chilled on this freefall watching the ground appear to rush toward me. No wind or even a breeze so I miss judged my approach a bit. Lost altitude faster than I had anticipated. Tried to run out my landing but WORK BOOTS AND STUDENT LANDINGS DON'T GO TOGETHER TOO WELL. Just when I thought I would nail the landing, my big ole' clod hoppin' boot caught a tiny rut and.....I biffed it on my last step. Damn it!!! Oh well, it was fun. It sure is nice being but a few miles away from the DZ. NOW BACK TO WORK!!! So says the boss.

Starting AFF and Need Advice

I am just off student status. Video was quite helpful for me. When I described to my JM what I was feeling regarding stability and turns we watched the video. Seeing myself helped me tremendously with my arch (specifically relaxing into an arch) and leg awareness for the next jump. Plus, my family enjoyed watching my progression on tape. -
Welcome DarkElf!! Do you play Lineage by chance? Just wondering 'cause of your name.

Going on Wenesday at about 11:30am. Just finished the "The Two Towers: Extended Version" last night to tune up for "The Return of the King". Can't wait, I heard that this one is supposed to top the last two. That will be amazing!!

Great shot!!

Anyone gotten burned out on skydiving?
StearmanR985 replied to mfrese's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
As a passenger a few years ago (see my other post), I want you know that many passengers appreciate the TM's. Expecially if you are able to take a little extra time with your passenger. On my first tandem, the TM had a great personality and seemed genuinely interested in my experience of the whole ordeal. He even asked me to sign his book and requested comments from me before he ran off for another jump. I remember he had over 2,000 jumps. I went a week later (Sisters 18th b-day) with a different TM who had a very 'dry' personality. It seemed like I was just a number. He dissappeared right after my jump. The jump was OK, but not nearly as memorable as the first. -
Anyone gotten burned out on skydiving?
StearmanR985 replied to mfrese's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Good point. I did my first tandem 3 1/2 years ago. Loved it but just figured I was a dreamer regarding actually taking up the sport. Well, I just got off student status last week and am stacking up the solos as much as possible now. The lingering desire to skydive was always there I just never did anything about it until now. So, you never really know. -
Did your mood change after the wine? Hopefully for the better?
-
Congrats Hawkflight!!! Keep it going!! Kind of funny, I am the opposite. I always tumble a bit from the big planes . Now I just pretend to do it on purpose. I do the hanging strut exit from the 182 and am stable from start to finish though, quite fun!!

I shall do that next time. May I have your number please?

So Lorrie goes with me to the DZ yesterday (I do the driving of course), a beautiful sunshiny day I might add. I notice a "look" in her eyes after watching me gear up and watching all the other jumpers dirt dive. After a perfect skydive for myself including stand up landing (thx Bill Dause for flare advice), we leave. Well, on the way home I ask her for an HONEST answer as to whether or not she would be interested in taking up the sport. Her answer, "Actually, YES I think I might be". God help me, now I could really be in financial trouble. Oh ED, HELP!!!!!

Well, I called the desk Saturday morning. She said the weather didn't look too good and there would probably just be some Hop-n-Pops. I stayed in Lodi, got two packed 182 loads divin' through the clouds. I heard you guys ended up getting some caravan loads up and the 206 going. Damn it, I missed out meeting you guys. How DID the party go Saturday? Well, guess I will have to wait again...I have heard from more than a few people that the atmosphere over there is one of the best.

I signed on DZ.com a couple of weeks before actually becoming a skydiver. However, I fully intended on taking up the sport, that is why I joined. In fact, I met my JM through here (hi Ed). Now I am a freak (of the sky), according to my whuffo friends... They just don't get it. Oh, I get bored at work too....

Is it bad to cook a lb of bacon to eat yourself?
StearmanR985 replied to DeNReN's topic in The Bonfire
I down a pound of bacon every Sunday morning with the rest of my breakfast. Yes, it is bad. All the more reason to do it!!! -
CONGRATS Skyyhi!!! I take it you will be graduating soon, yes?
-
Well, I'ma gonna call Byron in the morning and check weather. If it is CRAP, I will not be going. Though I do like jumping in very light rains as that is what the conditions were on my grad and solo jumps a couple of weeks ago from ~10k. Quite fun!! I have not done a hop-n-pop yet so I won't be able to do those, not quite ready yet. Anyone notice how BRIGHT SUNSHINE is predicted for MONDAY. Figures.

I called Taft a few days ago and spoke with Dave (I think that was his name ) and he said as long as I bring my log book and my progression card and have at least applied for USPA membership I will be allowed to jump. I am going to bring my video tape of all my T-AF's just in case someone needs to check out my abilities. I don't mind doing a coach jump either if that is deemed necessary. Hey, perhaps I can get a skill or two signed off on my card. Still planning on being there the 27th. Jeff

I don't know, he hasn't met me yet. He may not want me in there. Or....maybe I wouldn't want to stay in there. Kidding, kidding.
