The scentific method or assumtion, what are you inclined to beleive.
pirana replied to rhys's topic in Speakers Corner
If you look hard enough you will find people that believe just about every BS claim that can be made. Proves nothing. Read Why People Believe Wierd Things. If you look hard enough, are willing to ignore evidence, and have a vivid imagination - you'll find whatever you are looking for. I found invisible elves stealing veggies from my garden. Before the days of every nutjob being able to spread manure in mass all over the internet, this junk would have no traction whatsoever - being relegated to The National Enquirer alongside the story on a potato that looks like Hitler's face and other such literary masterpieces. What angle, your thread has no relevant content. After your YouTube display of someone flunking Physics 101 in their evaluation of the WTC collapse, I do not think you have much of a basis to criticize. Come on, you didn't learn anything from the Big Pieces Of Stuff Always Break Up Littler Pieces Of Stuff 101 video? What angle, your thread has no relevant content. Mr. Pott, I'd like you to meet Mr. Kettle, you two have something in common. Exactly my point. But why do you spell it Pott? Gotcha! Been a long time since I started a thread and this was the best I could do. Wonder if I'll get more views than the other new 9-11 thread? What law? i have not justified anything, i have just said it was not illegal. You are a cop, you should have a deep understanding of the law as it is you job to uphold it, or are you just like the cop that tried to give me a fine for not using a helmet on my skateboard? You know the power tripping kind? Oh, you got him cornered now rhys. Even I would call bonkers on a cop who insisted my skateboard wear a helmet. Ok, I've read this three or four times and I have no idea what you were trying to say. Try typing it out again, slower and less angry this time, so I can read it and I'll be happy to reply in kind. Not to mention I have a hard time giving credibility to the culinary criticisms of someone who admits to eating shit. I mean, if it smells like poop, for crying out loud, don't eat it! They have elections? Thought they had a Queen. Is she up for election? Hardly a real Queen if she has to run for election. And why don't they have a King? Did he get shit all over himself? Texas doesn't make BBQ, people make BBQ. Unless you are referring to some BBQ master named Texas. I hate provincial overtones. It is the kind of BS that is driving this nation to the brink of state sponsored anarchy (but I do love a good oxymoron). And think of the children. And what about taxes? How about that Supreme Court nominee? Happiness is a warm gun. And where are the WMD's? ObamaCare, decriminalization, fast food fatties, imperialism is still alive, Palin, bin Laden, etc . . . . Now I can go do something else for the rest of the day. Should baseball pull the 2011 All-Star game from Arizona?
pirana replied to Belgian_Draft's topic in Speakers Corner
Let me get this straight. People want the game boycotted because it is being held in a state that wants to enforce existing immigration laws, Correct? This is extremely silly, and the issue of whether or not immigration laws should be enforced is so completely irrelevant to what state hosts the All star Game that I'm tempted to label the request as 100% assinine. What's next? Will the American Reckless Drivers Association demand the game be played in the state that issues the fewest speeding tickets? Maybe the Mutt Producers Assn will boycott the game if it is held in a state that enforces puppy mills laws? Engage your brains folks. I don't think you'd make a very good eye-witness. I think you just proved HIS point. They are relatively similar; except King of Queens is a touch more feminine. Reminds me of the original Batman. Some days you just can't find a place to park a bomb. " . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley

Democrats Interbred with Republicans, Study Suggests

Heinz? Well, that's O.K then frankly, what would a Brit even consider as a 'brat'? I suspect what many of us would call a "hot dog" might apply - you might have to remove all the seasoning, use ground up testicles and intestine liner, probably replace the casing with ballon material..... I suspect ketchup would be too spicy, perhaps a nice flour paste or wall spackel would do it.....then boiled, and served a bed of wet shredded newpapers...... hard to tell - but that sounds about right. Maybe boil it a second time It is pretty hilarious (some of their interpretations); from my personal experience. I'm not usually one to stereotype, but I spent a school year over there in the early 80's and some of the faire was downright bizarre. I ordered a hamburger in Newcastle. I got an actual slice of ham (pretty thick and low quality) on a bun, served with brown gravy (tasted like beef) as the only condiment. It came with what we in the US call fries, which was a nice surprise - but they had spilled the brown gravy-like substance on them too! So the hamburger basket turned out to be a bun, slice of ham, french fries, and brown goo over it all. I thought "Sheesh, no wonder they have a lower rate of obesity! Who on Earth would eat enough of this to actually gain weight?" Now that I think about it, British cuisine (would that combination of terms get me in trouble?), seems an attempt to make every entree appear as Shepherd's Pie. Even the breakfast stuff was brown, bland, and gooey. You'd kill people over suaerkraut? I can see catsup as an acceptable motive, but sauerkraut? " . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley

You mean like Bill Gates coming to Stanford...a billionaire lecturing a bunch of millionaires, millionaires' kids, and potential millionaires on the benefits of philanthropy...and the next morning there are just as many homeless dudes sleeping at the bus shelter across the street from Stanford as the day before? Is that what fiscal conservatives do the help the world? Hasn't he given some really huge chunks of his wealth to things like AIDS research and other very worthy causes? It occurs to me it would be a very good thing if he managed to influence all the millionaires of the world to do the same. Of course there are those who think he should be taxed at some ungodly rate so the government could use it to fund the spread of democracy (their euphemism for kicking open the doors of other countries so multinational corporations can go in and rape them of their natural resources), subsidize the building of sports stadiums so millionaire crybaby all-stars have a place to play between the strikes they go on because they can't seem to make ends meet, and continue to pour gobs of money down the black hole known as public education. If there were enough people like Gates around, we would probably be able to cut taxes because many of the causes would be fully funded by genuine charity. And who should be apointed to decide how much too much is?
pirana replied to rushmc's topic in Speakers Corner
His perspective and attitude bother me. He says at some point HE thinks a person has made enough money. How much is that, EXACTLY? Should everybody live by the amount he personally thinks is enough? Is the amount different for different people? What should a person do when they reach that amount? Stop working or investing and retire? Keep making money but give it all away? To whom? The government? Directly to whoever they choose? If he is going to spew vague BS like that, he needs to follow up with details so we all know what to do. How much is enough, and what do we do after that is attained? Shall I hold my breath until The Obamessiah comes forth with details? Still waiting on that answer too. If the original post has any truth to it, there should be a newspaper article or something out there. Hard to believe a cop runs over a kid getting off a schoolbus, then slings her over his hood, and doesn't make the news. I'm going $2 million, and my conscience will be clean since I have followed the law, plus with that kind of money I would generously donate to the organizations of my choice. I like keeping it local and am highly partial to kids - so community groups that serve children (at no higher than the county level) would benefit immensely if I ever became rich. I'm confused; please supply details. Did he run her over, then sling her over his hood? In between those 2 events, she exited her schollbus? Only because the WalMart approach to driving down price seems to so often cross the line into bad behavior - I'm inclined to believe they would systematize just about any practice that reduced costs. It'll be interesting to see if their own documentation does them in; not that i expect to see memos ordering managers to pay women less, but with their number of employees and the data they keep any pattern of discrimination should be obvious. Probably why they have fought so hard to get it stopped before they actually have to provide their data. My mom worked for them for a few years during the time when they were doing the punch-out-but-stay-here-thing. During lulls in traffic the managers would actually go around and tell people to punch out, and tell them not to leave the store. In the words of Snagglepuss, I find them despicable. I'm not sure. Funniest 3-word post yet. " . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley

I'd throw in a couple more angry's, one large communist bleeding heart, a dash of paranoia, and maybe some eye of newt. Guns are 3rd or 4th in desirability for burglars, after cash, jewelry (and possibly electronics). Over 300,000 gun thefts occur annually. That hamburglar guy must be an exception. I think the "fix" will start come this Nov I'm hoping they (the Dems) get their asses kicked royally. Not because the Reps are any better, but just to maybe jolt some segment of politicians towards a more centrist and possibly bipartisan approach. Unfortunately what I suspect will happen is what has happened every time the pendulum has swung recently. They will be totally fucking full of themselves and act just as badly as their predecessors. They all act like rude bratty kids who play tit for tat each time it is their turn, rather than behave like the wise adult leaders we need. Haven't decided if I am going to VOTE (Vote Out The Elected) and vote wholesale against all incumbents, or vote straight Republican. One thing for absolutely certain, I will in no way cast a vote for any incumbent Democrat.
