Never mind. " . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley

You imply that everyone else who wish not to die in Bush's war is a maggot. you imply that those who refused to go to Nam is a maggot. You should remember that Bush got the gravy duty so not to go to Nam. That's far worst than those who crossed to Canada. Guess he's a maggot also. I bet you consider me a maggot amongst other things. Pesonaly, I do not give a damn what anyone thinks of me. Think away. Have fun. Enjoy your chair. But maggots eventually fly free. Not such a bad thing. Beware the swatter though. This one gets my vote. Tracking is achieved primarily by changing the angle of attack. " . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley

That struck me as funny. What would the next step be if the 5,500' C&P was unsuccessful? " . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley

Depends on the person around hee. I've seen people pied at 100, and those with thousands never pied. I think everybody gets to know when that is welcome or not (and I don't mean the feigned unwelcomeness) and acts accordingly. Just to be safe, I keep relatively quiet about closing in on milestones. I would like to tell you a bit more about God
pirana replied to DropDgorgeous's topic in Speakers Corner
Oh see, there I go, missing the point again. Congrats to you for figuring that out. I would never have guessed via even the most twisted form of scavulu logic that we could establish the State Patrol as the corporeal manifestation of God. My only question would now be, which state? I want to be on my best behavior. No way do I want to mess around with someone that has X, K, and Y bands, AND laser, AND is all powerful and all knowing; even if they are kind and benevolent and on a mission to protect and serve. Somehow you are equating God to the State Patrol? Are you insinuating it is not logical to believe in the State Patrol and not believe in God? Maybe I missed something. Could you restate the point? OK, I missed it as humor. But that is because it pisses me off to hear those lines so much - from people that are serious. My eldest is only 2 1/2 years from 13, and I very strongly doubt she will then consider me a tyrant. I strongly doubt she will ever consider me a tyrant. I know plenty of kids who skip the "I hate my parents phase" altogether. Imagine that! I think if a kid says they hate their parents (other than a brief emotional outburst) - then the parents ought to do a little self-assessment. OK, back to the fun, or else. You need to make some adjustments on the transmission so that it holds whatever gear you want. Basically turn it into a "manual automatic" if I can use the term. She appears to have the perfect build for high speed freefall. Reading the article, she must also be independently wealthy, or have family that is, or be getting free skydives everywhere. It just so much depends on my mood and the setting. Last night it was Savoy Brown and the title cut from Hellbound Train. On the way to work this morning it was Cracker's Eurotrash Girl. Right now I could really dig something fast moving with a good beat. Maybe some old Elvis Costello, or better yet, The Burning Sensations' Belly of the Whale or Check Your Mail. I feel like Jonah in the belly of the whale. I used to take people up on the "You just wait" comments. Drives me nuts that everybody who's kid gets pregnant at 15, or ends up in treatment, or steals from their family and friends, or gets 3 DUI's by the time their 20, or . . . . somehow think it will happen to everybody. All kids do not get pregnant at 15, . . . and so on and so forth. I'm tired of everyone who raised little hellions, or outright criminals, sloughing it off as inevitable - and giving me that stupid grin and saying my time will come. BULLSHIT. So nowadays I just turn and walk away when I hear that kind of BS, and make sure my kids do not associate with theirs. Why so hard? Well, because you're dealing with Those Darn Humans. Life would be so easy if it weren't for all TDH's. " . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley

I've served and I find your statements to be quite mindless in the sence that we should be willing to die for any reason the government desires. I bought to that bullshit years ago. Only later did the truth come out about the Iranian Conflict. All I could think is that they were willing to start a full scale invasion for a murdering Shah. I'm glad we didn't go down that road. We did however stick around and gave Saddam Hussein, our great ally and good friend, a helping hand to fight Iran. Proxy war? If that moron Bush called me personally to tell me I was going to Iraq, I'd tell him to go fuck himself. I don't think warpedskydiver thinks we are supposed to think that deeply. We are supposed to just go off and kill and be killed alongside whatever ally our whorish leaders have aligned themselves with on that particular day. The statement, or arguement, or whatever it is your posting has to have some sort of semblance of logic in order to be in the realm of being understandable. All I'm seeing so far is breast-beating. Assuming they were rejected for a bona fide reason; going home and commiting suicide is a sure sign of mental disorder. Give it up. So far your statements show no logic whatsoever. That's a bizarre statement. I really don't get it at all. To not fight to protect people I don't know is cowardly? Of course this assumes they need protection. Unfortunately, Vietnam wasn't about protecting anybody. It was about ignorant politicians caught up in the emotional momentum of a historical accident. I didn't dodge, but I was ready and would have had my number been called. I got pulled #73 in the lottery just before the war ended. As far as my parents, my Dad did serve, and I had their full support. They were not willing to send their son off to die in some jungle half a world away because some politicians had their head up their ass when it came to certain foreign policies. (I inherited a strong disdain for blind loyalty from them). I did not think I was better than everybody else; just must have had a different opinion or threshold on what was wortth dying for. I did not think I should die for a cause that even the politicos could not define without sounding like fools. LBJ, at the time of winning the Vice-Presidency, could not even locate Vietnam on a world map. Had no idea where to look. Pathetic. She's pissed because she was berated in public. Because of her age, I can understand how that would be upsetting to her. She is or was upset because she got called for what she was doing - trying to attract attention; when in fact what she wants very badly is to attract attention and pretend not to be trying to do so. "Oh, you mean people are staring at little old me?!" Trash looking for attention no matter what it takes, and now looking for fast easy money by pretending to have been offended. Pathetic. SKydiving has, in your opinion, experienced a downfall. Was the pun intended? ALL sports have profit as a motive. ALL of them. When you get to the upper levels, PROFIT dominates. If a DZO couldn't make any money, do you think a DZO would stay a DZO? Nope. How many people nowadays are satisfied with a 182? The modern skydiver demands aircraft that can get to altitude quickly, thus to make more jumps during the time they have available. How many want covered packing areas? Video rooms? Gear stores? tHE FIRST 6-way star was 1964. By 1973, it was a 27-way. And a 32-way by 1975. In 1995, the 62-way took a record, with a 100 way in 1997. Yes, things change. It was not a huge stress to get some beat up plane, some old ratty canopy held together with duct tape to cover the holes from a cow chewing it being trained by some dude with 6 jumps to his name. (Ask bill booth about this). So, when you've got demands for alternate landing areas, swoop ponds, turbine aircraft, etc., the costs tend to increase. Tandem factories? They serve a legitimate purpose. Sport jumpers go elsewhere and THOSE places serve a purpose. It aint' the good old days. But it also ain't the "bad new days." They are just different, as is everything. Absolutely agreed. Without the tandems, we'd have no all-summer Otter. Mind you, I don't mind riding the Cessna or Beaver at times; but the speediness of the Otter is my preference. And the tandem traffic seems to be a necessity to the DZ's longer term financial viability. It appears they are now an integral part to keeping us all jumping in the manner and with the frequency we love. Well, since they have "engaged an attorney", she'll probably just get rich from a lawsuit. (Cheap outfit+cheap airline)/attorney = $$$$ You can be reasonably sure her original intent was to be seen. The outfit screams "Please, all men please please please stare at me." Though I'm sure she didn't count on all the fuss, once it began, she had to be absolutely delighted since it guaranteed more of what she wants most in life - lots and lots of attention. And did somebody say the news program video was an accurate portrayal of how the skirt was designed to be worn? BS! I'm sure the reason for her not showing the back on the show was because it would have shown she had the skirt pulled at least half-way down her ass. Worn where it belongs, her crotch would be hanging out below the non-existent hem. This is just some attention starved white trash waitron who has hit the jackpot by stumbling into lawsuit territory. The fact that her mom is supportive tells me the seed didn't fall too far from the tree. I know one that didn't. About half the staff, at least half the fun jumpers (maybe 3/4), and damn near everyone who competes made the 3 or 4 hour trek to Couch. I think it's kind of a tradition that many honor and come together for on that weekend every year. For some reason the title Couch Freaks Boogie always reminds me of the scene in Forrest Gump where he beats on the hippie guy at their rally in DC. I just keep visioning Forrest Gump after a week at Couch saying: Sorry to have disrupted your Couch Freaks Party. What do i do if i lost my logbook?
pirana replied to markovwgti's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I'm in a similar boat. We're doing a fall purge of house and garage, so I'm still hoping to come across it, but I can not find my log book with my first 350 or so jumps. And I was thinking of taking the D test before the end of the season. I'm really bad (or is it good) at that stashing-things-so-well-I-can't-find-them-again thing.
