Anybody else notice that for Deland they did not specify the bathroom, but the DZ in general? " . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley

What are you gonna do? Isn't it ironic that the ill-intentioned and ill-fated efforts to eradicate useage have become industries in themselves? It is almost certainly prolonging the prohibition. This is why the "legalize & tax" argument does not work ... I disagree - it works with people brewing their own beer and making their own wine...it seems logical to believe that it would work with MJ as well. The government will be able to enforce taxes on companies but will not be able to enfoce taxes on people and I do not believe the people that will produce their own will pay taxes. The question is, how many people will purchase from companies and how many people will produce their own? Well, then it becomes home produce. Those who want to grow their own should not pay taxes on it; any more than I should pay taxes on the tomatoes I grow. But, . . . the fact that I don't pay taxes on tomatoes at the grocery store maybe makes that a moot point. But I agree with the home brew comparison. I doubt people who brew their own, and consume it themselves, pay taxes on it; and I doubt the government cares. My guess is most people are too lazy or too busy. If it were legal and mass produced under regulations such as alcohol is; the price would drop like a rock and most would buy mass produced while a relatively few number of MJ-ophiles would produce their own high quality custom blends and artisan type brands. That's all I was looking for, what it meant to you. But somebody had to go and play the Meriam card; I'm not that sophisticated. BTW, this thread is flying. Can't believe there are 2 pages since I last looked. You bail regularly on touchy topics in the name of avoiding semantics. Most words do have very specific meanings, even if many have more than one specific meaning. The definition for altruism is very specific. I do recognize that like Webster's, I prefer very specific meanings. Some would call it a flaw, but I think it is the key to clear communications as well as precise and clear thinking. It does not mean I won't acknowledge what you mean when you use it, I just need to know what that is so I understand what you are saying. I'd like to hear what it means to you. You could, But you would lose. Free Speech has limitations. My first job ever was as a little league Umpire. At 14 I was paid $3 a game for minor league (under 10yo) and $4 a game for major league (10 to 12yo). At almost every game I had to have the security guys escort at least one parent from the game for exactly that reason. We had a zero tolerance policy for parents that yelled at the umps. That is what I thought. So my next question for the legal experts is: Do I lose because free speech has it's limitations, or do I lose because I signed a contract when registering my daughter that stipulates I agree to certain rules of conduct; and in breaking those rules I forfiet my privelege to attend the event? I think it would be easier and cheaper for them to pin it on breaking a contractual agreement than on violation of constitutional rights. But if it came down to it, could they say my free speech rights do not include the right to scream obsessively - even if not using profanities - at an umpire? First off, the right to free speech is grossly misunderstood. It means that the GOVERNMENT may not arrest, imprison, torture or execute you for what you say. It doesn't say you're allowed to harass a grieving family at their son's funeral. Then there's the freedom to practice their religion. Well, if they want to hold church services where they get up and say that God hates fags, I suppose that would be their constitutionally protected business. But they seem to prefer saying those sorts of things outside other people's churches, where the congregations don't share the same set of beliefs. Does this mean I can stand outside a synagogue and denounce the Jewish congregation as "Christ killers" ? I don't think so, and I would certainly hope not. It's essentially the same kind of harassment, and in some states would even be considered a hate crime. I hope the family wins big and bleeds those assholes dry. Lawsuits were very effective against the Klan and the neo-Nazis and might just be the most effective way of finally shutting these shitbags down. I agree, and while I'm no lawyer, I can not imagine that the right to free speech has no limitations once you start fucking with other people. EDIT: The limits can't be all that generous; it must just be a matter of someone willing to push back. I mean, I can be tossed from the ballpark at one of my daughter's games by some teenage umpire for being too boisterous in the stands. Could I sue them for violating my free speech rights? If you feel good about dying for a purpose, then it is just another form of self-gratification. If a person goes into something because they think it is the right thing to do, then the motivation is self-centered, regardless of whether it helps someone else or not. What was it you did that made you feel bad? Was it really the behavior of choice that was bad, or just an ancillary event or observation. For instance, I've killed animals that were in pain and going to die shortly. It was the right thing to do, and I felt good to have saved them from suffering. There were some bad feelings, but it was only ancillary in nature (seeing guts pop out of body cavity or looking into those big brown eyes just before the act of mercy). Mother T would not have done the things she did, IMO, if it made her feel bad to do so. Everything we do as a choice is based on internal motivation. Please don't misunderstand my post. What I said is.... The last time I was in Parris Ca, there was two BOD members who were jumping there and there was 5 or 6 DZO's jumping there. (two different trips) One of those BOD members I think makes it his home DZ or splits his time between there and E-snore. What I didn't say was there are BOD members who are DZO's that take skyscam tickets. In fact the 3 sitting DZO's BOD I'm pretty sure refuse to take the Skyscam tickets, those would be Mike Mullins, Sherry Bucher & Larry Hill. That is good to know. We still oughta attach names to those DZ's that take the certs. Publish a list of the DZ's that take them, along with the DZO's name, and the closest alternative place to jump that is not involved in this BS. Then find a pool store that does a comprehensive test. There is no way everything should check out OK if you have cloudy shit that settles to a sediment. It may be your total hardness is out of control. (No porn jokes please, this is serious shit). Something is staying suspended (not disolving and not getting filtered). Everything is not OK. EDIT: OK, saw the post where they recommend water change. That is one of the fixes for uh, uh, . . . I have to admit to forgetting. But I had the same problem. We have very hard water, and that means you have to add something to keep all the calcites disolved. They precipitate out and there is no way to get rid of them but to change water, get a softener, or do what I do and keep them disolved. Changing water does no good unless you have a soft water supply big enough to fill the pool. I'll check my readouts tonight and get back later on the exact nature of my past problem - which I believe was total hardness. (Now you can start with the porn jokes). BULLSHIT! What skavooloo school of logic did you go to? Even worse, where did you get your ethics? So USPA has dirty hands because they came down on a company engaged in fraudulent business practices? Give me a huge fucking break! If Skyripoff had tried to build a business ethically, by convincing DZO's of the need to market collaboratively, there would be no problem. Instead they engaged in fraud. DZ's that are or were going down and see Skyripoff as a way to avoid or delay that are nothing but shortsighted. Get off your lazy ass and collaborate internally or do your own thing. But what do these asswipes do? They accept business they know has been gotten fraudulently. I've hung by and followed this thread and the story in general for quite some time; and after seeing the list of DZ's accepting the certificates finally am outraged enough to chime in. Gutless wonders all of them. Absolutely the most pathetic behavior I've seen in my 12 years in the sport. THEY are as much a part of the problem as the people that run Skyripoff. As has been mentioned, the very simple solution would be for the DZO's interested in ethical promotion and advancement of their businesses* to get together, agree not to do business with Skyripoff, and share resources to engage in some collaborative marketing. It is a business, and business often involves collaboration. It doesn't mean you become business partners, but you can partner on certain specific activities. Marketing is one where that makes the most sense. Wouldn't it be better to work together and charge a fair price that you get to keep, than to accept business you know was gotten fraudulently. Hell, I think anyone accepting the certificates should be named along with Skyripoff in a class action suit. You know people are getting fucked over on a regular basis, and you continue to be a part of it. Yep, you deserve to be prosecuted. And some of you are on the BoD?! We need to try to prove Statostar wrong and stop the efforts of some of our leadership in their selling out the sport. The list of DZ's is fabulous. Those accepting the certs will never see a fucking penny of my money. We need to get the word out loud and wide. Next we need a list of the DZO's for those places accepting. Make sure none of them gets elected to anything but a class action suit. Vote them out, and fast; and spend no money that can in any way make it into their hands. *a necessary qualifier since we seem to have a bunch of DZO's that prefer getting a few dollars more than their local competitor even if it means being a partner to fraud than getting off their lazy ass and doing some creative marketing. I can hear them now: "Oh help me, I can't compete. If I don't accept the certs my neighbor will. I can't compete, help me, I'm melting because I don't know how to market my DZ without getting a ROI; please help me. Oh wait, you mean if I take these certs that people payed outrageous prices for you'll send me more people with more certs. Well hell, I don't care what they paid, or that a lot of them get totally fucked, as long as I get mine. Thank you Skyripoff for saving my business and my pathetic self." As said before, get to the store and have a free test and assessment. Most likely you have a ph problem, causing all the stuff you dumped in to stay in suspension instead of dissolving. In fact, all the stuff you dumped in might have caused a ph problem. Besides, the store test will diagnose the whole kit and kaboodle. You've not mentioned total hardness, chlroines, chloramines, metals, algae, etc. There are about 20 factors measured when they test mine; and the solution accounts for what is there plus what will be there in each step of their fix. I'd also recommend going to a cartridge filter. Much better filtration. You do have to take them to the car wash and blast them off; so if you get a lot of debris in your pool that might be required more often than you like. I have to do mine 3 times per year, but the pool is indoors and gets very little crap in it. Last thing; beware of thinking clear water must be good. Test regularly even if it is clear. Highly acidic water can be beautifully sparkling, and be slowly destroying your components. All convictions tie to self-gratification. No exceptions. Everything we do, we do because we think it is the "right" thing to do. Even Mother Theresa, who did what she did out of conviction, did it because she saw it as the right thing to do, and it made HER feel good to do the right thing. I do not think altruism exists outside of the dictionary. Further proof that climbing the ladder of social class is a slow process, one rung per generation being the best you can usually hope for. You start with a box, your kids get a dumpster, the grandkids get a vehicle with a view of a water feature, or maybe a trailer. Within no time at all (a generation or 2) your descendants will be living in a real house and finally get that reading Harper's versus Atlantic Monthly is just too vulgar to even thin about. but there are feeless rewards cards too. Hmmm. That's what I was thinking too. Haven't had a fee in ages. I thought anybody with a decent credit rating dumped all their "fee" cards years ago. I've got a card with no fees, nice miles program, and was a fixed 9.9% for years, until a very recent change where they are now indexed to prime. But again, I thought no fees, rewards, and a decent interest rate were available to anyone that had established good payment history. Someone recently sent me a slideshow of some old print ads. There were a few for cigs, with endorsements about the relaxation benefits and other hogwash. Pretty humorous. Got any evidence for the second yes? And no, I don't want people to blow any kind of smoke over me (no kids) in restaurants - which is why I like that it is now illegal to do either. You want it to be legal to do one but not the other. As far as I can tell the opinion is based solely on a personal preference (well, lesser dislike) for one vice over the other. I'm guessing everybody agrees that smokers should not put others at harm, and will skip the messy arguement about how to best go about that; but for the issue of how harmful pot smoke is - much worse than cigarette smoke. Read some journal papers on it quite some time ago. Pointed there by a friend who was schooling to be a pharmacist. IIRC, typical MJ has over 300 gas phase toxic chemical compounds, and I recall that was much worse than cigs. Shouldn't be hard to find some phamacological journal entries on it, and it's probably not changed. Except maybe no more paraquat. I can only speak to Dell. Price - You get what you pay for. Their primary market is people who want a computer cheap. That is what they get, a cheap computer. Support - Dell sucks. I have firsthand knowledge of their philosophy about price, service, & profit. Reliability - Directly dependent on price. Comparing machines of supposed equal performance ability, you will generally find Dell to be cheaper, and less reliable. It's really just a matter of economics and each company deciding what their primary market is. Dell has decided to be the Wal-Mart of personal computers. Which is fine, as long as purchasers know that going in. You also need to learn to ignore all the industry awards where they all pat each other on the back. My experience is that the best thing to do with anything from Dell is, . . . replace it with something better. Easy to do cuz there is not much worse. Well, maybe a sharp stick in the eye, a knee in the groin, and the quality of service from whichever group of overseas zombies Dell is contracting with this month. I wonder if when people in India need help with their computer they get transferred to a USA help desk staffed by people who don't speak their language?
