HOW ABOUT: "SOFA KING HOT" CHEERS, J.P.

KBone I can tell that if we ever met face to face, I would mostly certainly think your asshole. Having said that, if you happened to die whether it be your own fault or not, I would care. Why? Because you are one of the few people in this world who is part of the community that I have grown to love. I look at every member of our community as being the same; we are all people that are unified by the common interest of living life (in the physical sense) as risk takers. I care when someone in our community dies because I know one thing for sure: they weren't one of those stupid whuffos that frequently asks me why I skydive. You see it's very simple, to say that you don't care when one of our fellow skydivers dies shows that you are an incredibly selfish man. Heaven forbid you take some time out of your busy life to pay homage to someone that shares in the same community you do. It's no surprise that you don't like ash dives or tributes, for those of us who choose to participate in them are not selfish like you. As far as your reference to the 300 cliche posts that appear on dropzone.com after someone dies, my only comment would be that this is just one additional way for those of us who do care to cope through the grieving process. It's nice to read others peoples thoughts and learn about how they are coping through this time. And perhaps we'll learn something interesting about the deceased person by reading these tributes. In fact we may learn something positive that we can apply to our own lives. No one is forcing you to read those posts. If you don't like it, feel free turn off your computer. Cheers, J.P. Nelis

yeah, you can count me in on that one!! Just name the time. cheers, J.P.

I think Dom said it best a few days ago; "Heaven will be a little brighter now." Equally I also relate something else that Dom wrote in an ealier post, she had that beautiful smile that made her stand out among others. I didn't know Adria all that well, but I think I can speak for all us who saw her at the dropzone with regularity by saying that. . . we will all remember Adria's pretty smile. For some strange reason I feel really guilty because I have learned so much from her accident. It's almost sacrificial. Her accident has weighed so heavy on my conscience over the past few days, each time I have drifted off to sleep or put on my rig to go for a jump. She is the first person I have truly known in our sport to have died. . . . .I will never forget the sacrifice you made Adria. May our paths cross again someday!! My deepest sympathy to her friends and family. Regards, J.P. Nelis

Never finding someone who loves me as much as I love them and having my own family. [/sappy] ----------------------------------------------------------- This is one of my very real fears. I agree with you Chelle. cheers, J.P.

Yep. I've had one on April 29th. A patellar bone graft to repair my blown ACL. Hurt real bad the first 72 hours; lots of percocet and ice helped alot. Now I am 6 weeks out from my surgery and I'm looking for to jumping this weekend. Doc's told everything is coming along fine. Get the surgery. You'll be back in action before you know it. Just make sure you have a second opinion done. Oh and find out how many of these types of surgeries your Doc has done. cheers, J.P.
-
I have this same dilemma every. . . . . . .hour. Even on days when I am getting some. I usually resort to rock climbing. cheers, J.P.
-
Currently I am out of commission as far as climbing goes, as I tore my ACL and I am getting surgery on Thurs. However, normally when I am not injured I do a heck of alot of climbing. I have been climbing for about 10 years. I don't climb too hard. . .I lead up to 5.10 trad (on a good day ); I can usually follow most 5.11's. Not too much climbing in Orange County per se, but there is stellar climbing to be found in Idyllwild at Taquitz/Suicide rocks. Stellar granite crack climbs up to 9 pitches in length. Another great area which I am sure you know about is Joshua Tree. Then of course to the north 5 hours we have the Valley. Need I say more? There are a few bouldering areas in Orange County, but I would prefer to keep those on the hush hush. PM if you would like to chat about it. When I recover from my injury I would be glad to go climbing with you. PM me if you are interested and I'll make sure to give you my phone number. For what it is worth, as far as gyms go Rockreation is Costa Mesa is a good place. cheers, J.P.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Does anyone else find this disturbing? Dishonesty is dishonesty, there isn't a grade of it, two words---Don't lie--- Period!!! Hope I didn't read into that too much. Sorry if I have offended anyone. Wait, I'm not supposed to lie, hell no, I'm not sorry, if that offended you, you are a freakin' liar!!! ------------------------------------------------------------ C'mon! I hear what you're saying, but look. . . . . If my girlfriend lies to me about. . . . I don't know. . . .how much money she makes in year. This is something that is personal and I wouldn't hold it against her. Now if she lied to me about her wherabouts or her level of comittment to the relationship, that would be a completely different story. cheers, J.P.

Hmmm. That's some pretty crazy shit Tom. I don't know if would ever have the balls to BASE off a rappell line. I would like to watch though. he he. Sounds like a project to me. J.P.
-
I'm a climber. Haven't ventured into BASE. . . . .yet. Everytime I'm up high on a very overhanging big wall I frequently wonder if anyone has ever BASE'd off of a port-a-ledge? Would it be possible to do this? cheers, J.P.

Pyke, I live in Newport Beach. Truth be told, you can rent in Newport Beach from anywhere between $800-$1000/month. Newport Beach, Huntington Beach (near the water), and Corona Del Mar are all nice places to live, within 10-15 minute drive of Costa Mesa. You can find some nice places to rent in Corona Del Mar; I would look there first. cheers, J.P. PM me if you have any addtional questions.

Edit to add: If Iraq had any thing to do with 9-11 ok but Iraq didn't so please let that go. It seems people are just reaching to find a reason. There is no reason the Iraq war was and is a mistake. ---------------------------------------------------------- Yep you're right about them not having much to do with 9-11. But one thing is for certain, Iraq is loaded with Islamic extremists that support the same philosophy of the Osama Bin Laden's of the world. Iraq harbors groups of individuals that gladly and openly attempt to build support for the tenets of Islamic extremism. And yes, there are economic interests there as well. But in truth, an additional reason we are there is to send a message to other countries that harbor Islamic extremists. . . . .you better watch your ass because we're getting tired of your shit! I agree that the premise of the Bush doctrine (ie. his stated reasons for entering Iraq) could have been handled much better. In hindsight we all now agree that WMD was a stupid way of trying to get support. Oh and by the way, there is a reason for this war: the reason for this war resides in the fact that Saddam Hussein was a horrible tyrant who controlled way too much power with all those oil reserves over there. And let's not forget about the countless human rights violations. Truth be told, we are over there for more than one reason. Do I get frustrated with the United States govt's never ending viewpoint that every country should be a democracy? Yes. Do I think we look like a bunch of asses for insisting upon trying to shape Iraq in image of our own country? Yes. But, if someone asked me. . .Did the United States make the right decision in going into Iraq? Based upon the scary power Saddam had, and the human rights violations also, my answer is Yes! I just wish President Bush could have had the political balls to come out say these sames things prior to the war. cheers, J.P.

I have spent many hours pondering this same subject. I live in Orange County, where the housing prices make you wanna puke. . . .if you don't own a home that is. I believe we will begin to a moderate correction in California over the next 12-16 months and I will explain my reasoning as to why. My father and I own and operate a steel service center in Los Angeles. We are a decent size company (about 50 million in sales annually), and therefore we buy quite bit of steel. (check us out at www.calstripsteel.com **I know I'm such a salesman ) Over the past year we have seen some dramatic increases in the price of all metals, not limited to steel alone. The catch is that consumption of steel has stayed relatively the same. To put a figure on it, steel has inflated about %40 over the past year, which is huge in our industry. We all know from our college Econ courses that a rise or decrease in the price of "basic metals" is one of the indicators of inflation/deflation. When you combine this with the quickly rising prices of gasoline, and a state that has over 40 billion in debt (ie. a state that will be raising taxes), it strongly points to the possibility of an inflationary economy. Oh and let's not forget the record high fed deficit that we eventually need to deal with. If you ask me all of this stuff points to inflationary economy. With interest rates being so low right now, people are more willing to spend their $$ and thus feed inflation through what is really false demand. This will certainly not stand in the govt's eyes, and they will most certainly raise the interests to curb this inflation. That's my 2 cents. I could be totally off base here. Oh and for the record, I don't believe the housing market in California is going to "burst" per say in the sense that it will collapse, but I do think we'll see a correction. Keep in mind that prime land in Orange and L.A. counties is not readily available anymore, which is one of the reasons I believe the prices have gone so high. But you must also keep in mind the question. . . .How many people out there can afford to pay $600,000 or more for a house? Good topic lawrocket. . . .very stimulating. cheers, J.P.

"Imagine what you'd do if you had a bottle of jager and a BASE rig..." ---------------------------------------------------------- Oh yeah!! I have always wanted to jump a wingsuit off of my balcony!! J.P.

"sambucca and ameretto. Been far too sick from both, even the thought of them make me feel ill.." ------------------------------------------------------- Well in that case try to avoid thinking about Donuts and mayonnaise Cheers, J.P.

You know, Chaoskitty has made me very alcohol "minded" today. All her talk of Vodka Martini's at 8:30 this morning (lush!) got me to thinking. . . . I don't drink Jagermeister anymore cause it makes me do incredibly stupid shit (ie. jumping off my 3 story roof with an umbrella etc.) . Is this something unique to me, or do other DZ.commers find this true of themselves, with regards to a specific type of alcohol. cheers, J.P.

I tore my ACL and PCL this past weekend. I have very green eyes. J.P.
