Christians - how do you rationalise your belief?
Andrewwhyte replied to nigel99's topic in Speakers Corner
I never heard of him. Certainly, no one except you talks about him anymore. On the other hand, Jesus is well known and talked about to this day. Well, unless he wrote the Wiki article it seems at least someone else talks (writes) about this guy. If indeed he is written about in the Talmud (never read it, probably not going to) I suspect there are others who talk about him too. -

Hmm, We had to send the navy out a few years ago because the Spanish wouldn't listen to reason.

This is a very unique situation. In most countries the currency is created by an arm of the central government; The Bank of England belongs to the crown, as does the Bank of Canada. The Euro is created by a consortium of government owned central banks. If The bank of Canada resorts to quantitative easing there is no net debt incurred by the taxpayer as the interest on the bonds payed to the BoC returns to the Ministry of Finance as a dividend. Allowing private interests to control the currency is madness.

Oh Fuck.

What happens to the profits from the Fed?

In Canada the VAT (called the GST but it is the same thing) is not paid on exported items. It is paid on the final price of all imported items. If Vertical Suits in Vancouver imports material they pay GST at the border. If they ship the suit to the US they do not charge GST. At the end of the reporting period they deduct the GST they paid for materials from the GST that they charged on domestic sales and send the difference to the gov. This amount equals the value added by them on suits sold in Canada, and paid by the consumer.

Welcome to Mordor. Edmonton Skydive Centre in Westlock (about 3 hours away) is still open for another couple of weekends. We have heated space for you to sleep in on the weekend if you want to drive down. There are a couple of riggers here who can fix you up. Give us a call 1 780 444 5867. edmontonskydive.com -
Generally speaking paying the domestic help is not a cost of doing business, it is a form of consumption that is not taxed like buying goods. One form of consumption, services, is not taxed while another, goods is taxed under most retail sales taxes. Of course as one travels up the income ladder ones consumption tends to move towards consuming services relative to those who provide rather than consume domestic help.

I don't know dude. If the rapture does happen on Friday and all those annoying Christians really do disappear I think the party will be still going on Sunday.
-
Well, first of all I didn't say it was the solution. I don't believe there is a solution as long as the right and left in your country continuously put political points ahead of the wellbeing of the whole. However to claim that a retail sales tax that does not capture services such as paying the domestic help or accounting fees is the same as a VAT is just stupid.

Farmer grows the wheat, sells it to the miller: 40% Miller mills the wheat, sells it to the baker: 40% Baker bakes the bread, sells it to the grocer: 40% Grocer sells it to the sandwich shop: 40% Sandwich shop sells it to you: 40% This is why most advanced economies have opted for a value added tax. Yes it is complex but it is as close as you are going to get to a flat tax. You would think someone in the US would be advocating that. Oh wait Ron Paul is.

Repeat after me: I AM NOT A SLAVE. Now smile.

Honestly speaking I think if you buy a Sabre 210 you will be unhappy with it very quickly at that wing loading. If you can borrow or rent it that is cool, but a guy your size should be working towards a 190 or a 170 for a first canopy. This smells like a senior jumper on your DZ offloading his used junk. BTW Sabre 210s are notorious for their brutal openings.

Yeah, I screwed my first one up too. The good news is that when you repeat that one, you'll be skydiving.

Come to Alberta, Big Oil is hiring.

Actually I am surprised they stopped the race. When Greg Moore was killed at Fontana in 1999 they continued the race. When Alex Zanardi lost his legs in a crash in Germany in 2001 they also finished that race.

I'm so very thankful our POTUS is nothing like the last one.
Andrewwhyte replied to normiss's topic in Speakers Corner
Although I agree the US needs to pull in it's military horns until it wraps up it's current wars and deals with it's finances, this is the sort of action I would generally approve of. I would be supportive of our government if we sent troops after the LRA. -
Looks like the fat lady has sung on AGW
Andrewwhyte replied to brenthutch's topic in Speakers Corner
Conrad Black is the poster child for the arrogant right wing rich in Canada. He built a media empire as a sort of Rupert Murdoch lite (albeit a more thoughtful, intellectual one) who politicized Canada's press like Fox did for the American media. He is currently serving time in the US for defrauding shareholders of his US companies and now spends his time writing when not helping his fellow inmates get their grade 12. -

Uh, you might want to google the author before you go on about the left saying anything. -
This whole thing is just another example of how religion is evil; all religion.

Zero. The number of amputees that God has cured is zero. You can try to finesse the question any way you like, the number of amputees that God has cured is still zero.
