Hello everybody! We just came back from the new A. It's 330 m high and has the 6 levels of wire cables attached to each of 4 corners of construction. It's athumn now in Russia and weather isn't good. We just wondered how strong was the wind on the top of that A. It began on approx. 70m and turned down the wire on approx. 120m. 2 days we've been grounded by the rain and finally made the decidion. The canopy performance wasn't enough to land on the tight area under the wires. Another landing area was far away from the A, but it was possible to get there upwind after the very conservative delay. The jumps went great, but we have a couple of questions now. We want to know your opinions, guys! What wind conditions make it non-jumpable? What wind conditions are perfect for such objects? Does anybody have the acidents on such objects like antenna strikes or canopy malfunctions? Was that related with the wind conditions? Please, tell as about your sub-300m A experience. Hi Joris! Sorry to hear about it... say hello to your gf. I believe she will be strong during the recovery time. Hope to meet both of you sometimes. Between two evils always pick theone never tried

We had the same experience there last November. It was the policeman's notice about the other 10 policemens who would come in cause of jumping.

Would you like to send your complaints to Billy Gates?

Thanks! I'll try to do it. Wow!!! Just checked it. It's exactly my problem!!! I'll write about the results of the usage of that stuff. And there is the opinion on that page that it came with the .mp3. I imported just one "strange" .mp3 file in my project. It was the .wav converted with some soft called "Cdx.." or smth like this. Hm... Just bought the Premier Pro guide. Let's learn it! 2motherhucker Because of that f//kin' notice. Every time than my work was ruined they ask me if I would to send that damn report! Yes, the programm was falling down but I still have the opportunity to help Microsoft... It looks like they're trying to kidding on me! .... uhm.... FinalCut, cya soon ... Hey! Had a Premier problem yesterday night! I've never had it before! The Premier (with the big project which was almost ready) said he had made a mistake (the technikal info wasn't available) and should be closed. No any difficult operation were made before it. The notice came after the simple step like the ripple deleting. There were the .mp3, .avi, .ptl, .giff, .aiff and .wav files in that project. It was about 24 min of video on the timeline. So.... Than I try to open the last version of project (or previous archive copies) it opens with the empty timeline space. The entire content of the in looks like the files with the "-1" names. But program can show the frames of each file (inspite of the wrong and similar names). -- I restart Windows after that. -- Premier Pro can read the entire project but without the transactions and titles been created in Premiere 6.0 (it's ok but I prefer to fix the problem with 6.0) -- I opened the oldest version of project with Premier 6.0. But the next saving made it in that wrong way. -- I reinstall Premier 6.0 but all the archives version are shown like that empty timeline with the wrong file names. -- I tried not to export entire project. I've been previewing only the small parts like clips with effects or transactions. -- It was a big free space on the disk about 10Gb -- I used Toshiba laptop, IntelPent.IV, Wind. XP Proff. WHAT'S UP?!?! Does anybody knows that problem??? It makes me crazy because the project was almost ready!!!! Between two evils always pick theone never tried -
Tom, I'm just a newbie. But most of the people whom I asked about Troll said it had hard openings pretty often. And I had several such openings on mine. So... May be other jumpers never had it. But it was a problem and that stowing method helped me to fix it. Sure you had your own problems with your gear and it's different than mine. And thanks for your article about gear because it helped me to prevent the most of possible problems. My experience is not enought to say about the prolems which every jumper has but it was the situation. As an answer: I jumped several CReW canopies, several skydiving canopies (like Croiselite or reserves) and MOJO. Between two evils always pick theone never tried

Hi Joris! I have Troll. That canopy is well known by its hard openings on the terminal deployment speed. I had a chance to feel it in Norway. Some openings were so hard! I've been watching darkness several seconds after the opening. But Jeb gave an advice to me to roll the nose tighter (like 6 or 7 rolls) and attach the slider to the C lines with the two rubber bands (so on the both sides) . It helped! There were no more hard openings since that time. Between two evils always pick theone never tried

Hello again! Just the another editing problem... I'm editing the Freefly video now. And actually I don't know what's the music would be good for it because I'm not a freeflyer. I know well what kind of sountrack fits good for the BASE footages... but Freefly or freestyle.... I have absolutely no ideas. What do you guys think about it? I know that FF is full of positive vibrations.... And I have to edit the female video. They both are very good performers and hot chicks.... Your advice needed. It should be some sort of polls -- just write what's your favorite music for FF. Between two evils always pick theone never tried

I owned a 2-pin rig. I haven't any bad things to say about velcro. I have done only several jumps with velcro. And only two of my friends use velcro rig. They bought it only because it was for the really low price. The biggest part of european jumpers I've met jump 1-pin rigs. Fast all the jumpers have 2-pin rigs here in Russia. I think the community opinion made the personal choice of everybody. For example I know one jumper who make the FJC. He teach two or three jumpers every month. And he is an experimentator -- he like to try something new in packing methods and to sew some parts of gear at home. It's ok for him. But I've met several students of that guy who jumps with home-made stuff too. Just because of his mentors position. Sometimes the opinion of the local community takes the biggest part in formation of the personal choise in spite of the worlds opinion that may be different. Your rig Ray is the best velcro rig I've ever seen.
-
Yes. I know several jumpers who bought used velcro rig because it was much cheaper

How was the champagne? Congrats!!!!! Between two evils always pick theone never tried

Hey guys I need your opinions! Actually I have two questions. First what's more important for you in your editing job -- audio or video? Do you cut video being guided by soundtrack? Or may be you create video first and choise the right soundtrack that would be good for the video you already created? And how you mix the audiotracks? Do you use any special purposed programms? And that's the main question: what compressor you use for audio and for video than you make the final export process? Last time I made it with the compressors that weren't popular. Nobody has it on his PC and my video or/and audio is impossible to play. Between two evils always pick theone never tried

To make titles transparent you schould do nothing with the background in the creating window (White Alpha Matte) and leave the mark "Opaque" empty then you save it. To put the pix in project you should just import in there. Import>file>test.folder>testpix.jpg Just grab it with the "hand" and put on the timeline. If you put it on the field that is lower than audio track, programm will create new video track for this clip. It will be shown on the timeline as a short clip (depends on your preferences). You can animate it, or take other actions like transactions or effects. That's for 6.0 version.

I think it was "Apocalyptica" version

I think solo jump is the usual thing for everybody and everythere. I know that fast all off my jumping friends has already done it at least one time. Some of them includes me did it to check their "status" in BASE jumping because we have a lot of jumpers who jumped once or several times to heard "he is cool" about themselves. Solo is a good test to jump in "natural" way, not for public, girlfriends, cameras etc. Good chance to do it for yourself only. Me and my friends jumped solos often then we had 10 or 20 or 30 jumps. But now the "friendship problem" related with solos. Sure you can jump without ground crew and even without calls. But it's not smart in cause of accident. So it's better to place a call before and after the jump. It's normal. Here solo jump is possible just from the "regular" object which is boring for everyone. The friends make a long-distance ground crew with pleasure. But it's boring. Then the object is special I can't do it, because it will upset my friends. They will ask me why I didn't invited them for the jump. It's the really serious problem then the number of the legal object is limited, new objects are "easy-to-burn" and the community is small and friendly. There is no any non-jumpable friends in general, just the well-known persons whom we can't disturb with the such problem or the peolpe who can't understand what we're going to do. It can be jumped together or it cannot be made.

I've been training in gymnasiym for several months. It was the hall purposed for trampoline- and floor- and other kinds of exercises. Now I can do some "aerials" there but still haven't made anything in BASE. I'm going to try it as soon as possible. The problem is here -- I almost sure that all will be OK even on 120m object and I don't want to check how lucky I am. It was fun to train there because several russian basejumpers and snowboarders trained there. The coach are good informed about BASE. Sometimes he talks me something like "you may have an offheading doing this..." or "it's better to pull in that position" or "that's the tracking position"

... and not only helicopter jumps

Hm.... May be is't not a very important question but... Faber, do you remember I didn't took the morphine pill? I know that it's very usefull to have the good painkillers and just several day after my visit to your place I had the chance to realise it. But I'm not sure that it's good everythere. I mean you need that things not on every jump (hopefully ) but on the same time some jumps that you make are illegal. Then you are busted in Russia the police check your pockets and gear. If they found something like morphine you may have some drug related problems. It's not about the jumps in the sity only. Here they can search you even on the way to object. Sure that if you in the real trouble it doesn't matter. You just try to safe your life. But... Do you have such problems in Europe or in USA? Between two evils always pick theone never tried

Hello everybody! Just want to know your opinions… Does your activity in BASE jumping depend on your psychical condition? It is the third time I’m in the same situation. (I think I was the similar thread here last year ) Every year in August or September much as I should like to have some fun I can’t jump. The pleasure which I could get jumping BASE just fails. All that buildings and antennas which were so nice mean nothing for me. It excites me not. I have other sources of fun that “dead” time like skydive or wakeboarding or something else. I even enjoy being in a ground crew or filming the jumps of my friends. It may be several weeks without jumps but in time it changes again. And it’s the other period in my BASE life. I’m in form. I’m jumping almost everyday. I’m ready to open something, to make some illegal or low jumps, to do things which are new for me. And I really like it. It’s all about the jumps only. I’m not depressed and I’m not in courage that time. My life goes as usual. I recognized that my BASE life is “all or nothing”. There is the crazy active period and the time than I’m absolutely amorphous. There is no middle position. Now is the time of non-jumpable position. And sometimes I worry that the passive period won’t finish.

The jumper which has the info about is out of connection now. I know that they have the video but I'm not sure that it would be possible to get it. I'll send the details whan they will show it or talk something about that incident. I think I or they will send all info directly to Fatality List Between two evils always pick theone never tried

I voted "no problem"... I usually jump from low object (270', 300', 360') with my 42" AV PC. It works good. We've made several 2-way jumps from such objects (300' and 360'). I was the upper and made 0,5 or 1 second delays with 42" PC and the lower jumper made 2 or 2,5 with 48". I have 2-pin rig, vented canopy and vented ZP 42" PC. The second jumper's gear is 2-pin rig and non-vented canopy. I like this PC and I use it for all sub-terminals delays. And I haven't any problems with it jumping 2 seconds delay from 300'.
