  1. So say if someone could get a ticket for under $200 to show up in Eloy for 1 day (the first) should that person book said ticket -- will there be much jumping or will everyone be way to hung over to go up? If said person would show up he would really want to jump.
  2. new Mirage and Vectors have areas to stow excess line quite neatly out of the way....
  3. just so everyone knows, even though I just arrived here in Tacoma last week I had nothing to do with the incident in question.... purely coincidence!
  4. Hans, you'll make someone a great wife.... now if you would only stop with the insults.

    Lasik

not an issue.... Dr Joel (skydiver) hs done procedures and people were jumping the next day... on 100 ways no less. Not the smartest thing to do IMO, but LASIK is really not a bad thing.

FWIW... I just got a pre-employment physical, and the doc said no one who he has seen that has had the procedure has had any complaints... YMMV of course....
  7. [reply - so the trip to Florida is handy and hopefully weather will cooperate. Thanks again. well, the tunnel runs regardless of weather for the most part, I've only seen it shut down once for bad weather (it was raining really hard in there
  8. ahhhh, but you are... the very first thing we did when we formed as a team (right after deciding who was going to fly what slot), was develop a continuity plan, this is very important because without it your training plan can't be developed. If you are using the mind maps are you going to dive the diamond (block 10) out or float it out (Airpspeed dives it out which is more difficult than floating it out, but eliminates the uphill moves needed for OC and tail). Are you going to exit in "a" slots or are you going to exit in the switched slot so you are in your "A" positions the majority of the skydive (assumes here 2+ times through the dive). Are you going to do a vertical block 18 (2d is faster for the fast majority of teams due to vertical separation and timing needed to make the block work). Who has memory -- front/back/split? Unless you know that, your training plan can't be developed (I would also add everyone should have personal and team goals, and the team goals should be in a place where the team can reference them at the end of the training day/camp/etc)
  9. The search is set up differently, with seminars and other events giving a more extensive education. Please note, I am not an SDU coach, but have observed the program.
  10. so I take it you're going with Airspeeds continuity plan -- especially for mirrors and slot switches?
  11. Well, my desire to do 4way hasn't waned at all, and there may be some developments in SoCal, so we will see....
  12. Well, I'm pretty much checked out on the rain gear and snow sports equipment. Not so sure about the scuba thing, I thought about it in FL, but, I'm more of an air/land guy
  13. I *think* those are experimental tiny little lines they are using to go fast....
  14. oh my, Julie, yes she's not to shabby!
  15. I know, Stowe and Jay Peak have seen like 6 feet of snow already, they are skiing in knee deep powder up there....
  16. From the feedback I've heard, the participants have found it very worthwhile. There is tunnel time in there, a seminar with Dr John (well there used to be), canopy class, gear seminar, it's pretty inclusive and gives you a well rounded experience with a bunch of people who are there for the same thing.
  17. I hope to bring some 4way excitment up there, if it is only creeping and we're doing hop-n-pops!
  18. last day here in Sunny Florida for a while is Thursday, I'm making a job change and am headed to Tacoma WA.... Now, if you kind people of the pacific Northwest would kindly make it snow, I would very much appreciate it!
  19. I totally agree with you, but my question was aiming to if you have some kind of skills (in my case I'm still a student) and you want to get, say, more stable, better your turns etc, what amount of tunnel time in your opinion, would make what I mentioned above to happen? (10 mins? 15 mins? 20 mins?), just an idea. That all depends on how fast you learn. Are you athletic, have you played soccer, rollerblades, ski, snowboard, iceskate, hacky, etc. those all promote leg awareness, which is on of the keys in learning to fly. Are you going to get coaching, of just have at it? Coaching, while it costs more $$ initially, over the long run will make you better faster. 40 minutes spread out over a weekend isn't to bad. I've done 5 hours (yup of flight) over a weekend, that was painful. (I got to do 30 minutes last night of 4way, fun!) If you need the names of any coaches let me know.
  20. So, you're saying that the one in Orlando is better, now if it is (or any other) how much wind tunnel time, in your opinion, will somewhat assure that you 'have skills' or perfected the ones you currently have? well, IMO, you never, ever are perfect, so you can never get enough time. Seriously, The world's best skydivers spend time in there working on their skills constantly. You're never at a status where you can't learn something....
  21. THAT's IT??? $30 per day per person? those on the west coast should jump all over that!

If there's any speck of any comment that Dave can find a way to tease me relentlessly about, he will. That's the only basis for any of his so-called "jokes". He does it for his own jollies! I think he does it just so I'll come on AIM and yell at him. well, it usually takes more than a spec.... but it worked didnt it?

Yeah, well you know that Florida sun is brutal on a vechicle's interior. That's the only reason I have the tinted windows. Yep, that's it...just because of the sun. so what's your excuse for the heavy duty suspension? off roading? LOL< hahhahah sorry, again couldn't resist.

I had many eager co-workers share the news with me, including one who sent out a company-wide e-mail. D'oh! work the sympathy angle????
