I hate to break it to you, but anti-gun locales have been targeting .50s for quite a while. They target any gun with less than universal ownership. They look to see what they can isolate a group from other gun owners. "Assault weapons" and .50 cal firearms are just two examples where they think they can start. Maybe someone should break it to them that most .50 cal firearms out there are replica old western gun or muzzle-loaders. These are "high power military weapons?" Got to love the "high power military weapon" logic. Maybe someone should tell them that the military uses underpowered rounds on a regular basis. The AK 47 uses smaller less powerful rounds than many other 7.62mm firearms. US standard issue M16 and M4 use the .223 ball round.
