  3. BEER RULES An unwritten law, one as immutable and irrefutable as gravity and backed by history, states that skydivers enjoy the drinking of beer almost as much as flight itself. A manifestation of this fact is the tradition of the buying by an individual skydiver a case of beer (that being twenty-four cans or bottles holding twelve or more ounces of beer, ale, or some similar such substance) for his or her fellow jumpers to celebrate the accomplishment of a particular feat or milestone in one's jump career. It is generally recognized that the buying and drinking of such beer enhances that common bond shared by skydivers and contributes greatly to the body of knowledge concerning parachuting and its related activities. It is a sad fact that some skydivers are ignorant of what constitutes a significant achievement (usually and henceforth referred to as a "first"). Equally sad is the fact that some unscrupulously thirsty jumpers will shamelessly try to "weasel" a case of beer out of a jumper for an inauspicious event. Recognizing this, the following happenings are to be regarded as suitable occasions for buying beer. This list is not to be construed as exhaustive. First jump (It is not required of students. They are simply encouraged to participate). If more than one first is accomplished on a single jump, only one case of beer is required. Participation is voluntary. If a skydiver chooses not to participate by buying, neither shall the skydiver enjoy the fruits of the accomplishments of others. Non-drinkers may buy sodas and buyers may make up any part or whole of their purchase in soda for the enjoyment of those non-drinkers. It is generally recognized that using a reserve parachute for the purpose of saving one's worthless, non-packing self from a gory death requires him to buy the saving rigger dinner or the bottle of liquor of his choice. These articles are ironclad and binding. For the price of an additional six-pack, a sniveling skydiver may enlist the services of an S & TA to represent him or her in a hearing where the committee will rule against that skydiver a second time. Completing the student course of instruction First four way First eight way First CRW First time in the peas First night jump First kiss pass First competition First water jump First naked jump First jump on your own pack job First dead center (measured by a judge or electronic scoring pad on a three or five cm disc) First jump on a new main or new rig (purchased, not borrowed) Any license, award, rating, or badge Getting your name or photo in "Parachutist" Magazine Gross safety violations not resulting in serious injury or death Any jump ending in "00" First cutaway/reserve ride First jump from an aircraft not normally used at home drop zone First jump at a new drop zone First demo jump First save (you riggers thought you were getting off easy) Vomiting in the airplane or on another skydiver First round canopy jump (Geez, used to be the other way around) First broken bone First camera jump MAKE EVERY DAY COUNT Life is Short and we never know how long we are going to have. 13. Slander would be telling lies partner. Sorry but I am not one of the people here who think poor you. Your words signed your death warrant someone pointing your employer to them isn't slander. They would have had to make shit up which they didn't. Take responsibility for your own actions. This whole thread sounds like the whiny crminal that blames their being in Jail on the person who called the police when they saw them breaking into the neighbors car.. Grow up take responsibillity for your words. If you believed them strong enough to post them on the internet for the world to see you shouldn't be afraid if your employer or anyone else knew them I don't think the person who did was right by any means but WTF he didn't make shit up and this site isn't some private playground. ANYONE can come here or didn't you ever consider that? I wish you the best of Luck but grow up and be a Man. Say what you believe and believe what you say and be willing to die for what you believe. If not then maybe you need to sit down and really find out who you are and what you DO BELIEVE IN... Peace MAKE EVERY DAY COUNT Life is Short and we never know how long we are going to have. 14. Sucks BUT....everyone seems to be missing the point that if the company didn't have reason to fire him they wouldn't have. Someones political veiws are not reason to fire anyone. For a company to terminate an employee there must have been rules broken. lesson to be learned is don't break your companies policies and you won't get fired. Best of Luck and if you are afraid of being fired for being on DZ.com when you shouldn't be then don't be on DZ.com when you shouldn't...pretty simple really..like now...break is over so I am outta here...peace MAKE EVERY DAY COUNT Life is Short and we never know how long we are going to have. 16. upon inspection of my rig after making it back to the dz. the conclusion was that my hard housing had been yanked from it's tacking. Pretty obvious not like someone assumed thats what happened it is WHAT HAPPENED. After studying the video though it looks to be a bad chain of events. As you can see the inside front float funnels upon exit I get big to try to stable the formation. He starts to swing under me pulling on my chest strap the front float looks to be grabbing/holding my harness. I believe he had ahold of my hard housing and as my chest strap is being yanked down "I BELIEVE" this is when the hard housing is pulled out fo the tacking and deploying my reserve. As for the velcro on my riser covers needing replaced this was already supposse to be fixed and known about but whatever risk it may have added I am comfortable with my decsion to jump with my gear. The main flap coming open? I am comfortable with that as well. Can anyone tell me of an incident because of the riser cover coming open? How about the main flap coming other then pin extraction while in the plane. I mean incidents while in the air belly to earth. I would like to know where these items have caused an incident in the air belly to earth? I am not saying these things shouldn't get fixed. But I made an informed decision based on the information from those I trust. those same people are the ones that suggested that instead of just replacing the velcro go ahead and convert to tuck tabs. I trust them and am not nor will not second guess my decision to jump with the exception of not realizing the hard housing was subject to this sort of incident.. 17. Ok think I will chime in now. Yes my riser cover was open in the video. Yes I knew the Velcro needed replaced months ago. Actually it was supposse to have tuck tabs put on before thanksgiving but my rigger hadn't got around to it as I wasn't able to get to the dz for nearly 6 weeks. He was going to take it home that friday but decided to wait as saturday was going to be a beautiful day and he knew I was coming out to jump so he left it at the dz for me to Jump Saturday then take it home and make the mods Sunday. I only fly belly and no one thought it would be a issue to jump it like it was for one more day. It is all fixed now. Tuck Tabs for riser covers new Main Flap Tab, Tacked and covered hard Housing. As I said when I started this thread "Check Your Gear" Thank you for repeating that several times. If the riggers at the dz had ever said my gear wasn't safe I wouldn't have jumped it. The riser covers and main flap where asked about and I was told as long as I was on my belly it wasn't a big deal but I should get it fixed and it is fixed... thanks again :) Be Safe MAKE EVERY DAY COUNT Life is Short and we never know how long we are going to have. 22. Ogden, It felt like I was up there forever. I think they said 20 minutes before I got back(felt like forever to me). I didn't land out but thought I was going to. I was stuck over downtown Ogden from 11K to 3.5 before I started any forward motion. I had turned a coupel times looking for my freebag and realized with each turn I was getting farther and farther from the dz so I stopped that shit right away and headed into the wind. I wasn't going anywhere but I know I could make it to several different outs from where I was even if I didn't move forward another inch. and to answer Daves question no other damage was noticed but Brian is putting my rig back together he happened to have a V-9 rig stored amongst his stuff so I didn't have to buy a new reserve pilot/deployment bag. He is going to re-tack and check my rig out so if there is anything else I am sure he wil let me know and fix it... MAKE EVERY DAY COUNT Life is Short and we never know how long we are going to have. 23. Your actually pretty close on the Dave. It was a 9 way jump we had 4 swoopers right above us coming in. It is a good thing it happened on the hill or they would have been closing on the formation or this could be in the fatallitys forum and not here. 24. Nope my handle was still there.Someone got hold of the hard housing and ripped it out of the tacking pulling the reserve pin. took a minute or two on the ground to figure out what the hell happened. I am having it tacked and covered so no way for it to be grabbed/snagged again... MAKE EVERY DAY COUNT Life is Short and we never know how long we are going to have.
