first let me say, I'm not a palin fan. I've said before I think that she's the best thing that could happen in 2012... for the Libertarian party. Now, I will say that there is a huge difference between reading a few 1-word notes of the palm of your hand, and reading the speech word for word from a teleprompter. President Obama is a bright, charismatic man, but his handlers have him reading from the teleprompter. Likely because they don't want him to come across like a freshman congressman. Also, we need more than intelligence and charisma. There have been plenty of those in history that turned out badly. (no need to list them here) (edit for spelling) -- Rob

Translation: the politicians found one more way to waste tax money. Isn't that part of the job description? -- Rob

you mean you mean of course that since the military has tanks and planes and fully automatic weapons, and mortars and grenades and all that fancy stuff they have in Iraq right now, that no underground resistance here could stand a chance. Is that what you're saying? -- Rob

don't you have to be drunk (or on the way) to use a potato gun? Or is being on a wind hold enough? -- Rob -

Actually I don't know what the author of those words was thinking when he wrote them. I can only read and interpret. Referring to President Obama as an African is likely a reference to the birthers complaints. However, the word "African" even in this context refers to someone or something from the continent of Africa. It is not a description of race any more than referring to me as a North American is describing my race. And you should be careful... I got my one warning for calling someone ignorant. and mods. I do not consider this a personal attack. It's got to be better than that to get under my skin :) -- Rob

yeah, but it takes some creativity to do that. spelling flames... that's just for people who can't come up with even a yo'momma joke. -- Rob

having had comment from someone actually qualified to speak from an officer's position, I think we can all agree that it's tragic that a family pet is dead, that none of us will ever know what actually happened, and declare this thread dead and move on. (yeah... like that'll ever happen) -- Rob

Or you, apparently. spelling flames are the lowest form of rebuttal on the internet. While I really don't care about how our president pronounces words not used in everyday conversation, he is the commander in chief of our military. He should learn these terms. Especially since one of these corpse-men stationed at the white house might lend him aid while he's in office. -- Rob

as much as we'd all love to not hear george's whining, I never tell people to pack up and get out if they don't like it. I tell them to work within the system to change things. Vote, support a political candidate with time and or money, run for office. but mainly I'd tell george, do all of those things so you don't have time to come whine here anymore. -- Rob

so go pay the $300 and go through the background check to get a class-3 weapon. Then you too can buy a shotgun like this. -- Rob -

while they may prosecute, they do not enforce. See my above quote with the Statutory Authority for the IRS (from their own web page). They have the authority to create a separate agency to enforce the law. -- Rob -

You said that the IRS did not enforce criminal law. Prosecution and enforcement are not the same thing. Police officers also do not prosecute criminal law. well if you're going to exploit a technicality, then by their statutory authority I quoted earlier, the IRS may not enforce. They may however, according to their mandate create an agency to enforce these laws. -- Rob -

Then you misunderstand. I'd like to take this moment to crown you kind of short, vague, useless comments. You too can now work in my industry. Software support. -- Rob -

I stand corrected http://www.irs.gov/irs/article/0,,id=98141,00.html I still think it's bullshit. Want to seize property? Coordinate with local law enforcement. Isn't that the way it's always been done? Sure as hell has to be cheaper than maintaining a standing police force. Unless, of course they're planning on taking away a lot of stuff in the coming years. -- Rob -

isn't that what established law enforcement agencies are for? I don't know what the training and upkeep for a small police force (large enough to need that many shotguns) costs, but I bet it's not trivial. The IRS is not a law enforcement agency. They're a tax collection agency. -- Rob -
If the guns are restricted, he cannot get any and does not start shooting. no, in this scenario, guns aren't illegal. read the rest of it and you'll see that our main character left her gun in the car where she was legally allowed to. I expected you to say that this would never happen. How unpredictable of you (well, kinda) -- Rob

I figured it was an opinion. I'm ok with that. Just wondered if you'd seen ore recalled reading it somewhere. That's all. Not my opinion. You're mis-remembering. -- Rob

or how about this one: You're eating dinner at your local cafeteria. Someone drives a truck through the front window, and gets out screaming about what the government has done to him and then he starts shooting. You end up hiding behind a table with your parents realizing that you left your handgun in the car because it was illegal for you to carry it into the restaurant. The man from the truck continues to shoot people as your father gets up and tries to subdue the shooter. Your father is killed in the process. The shooter reloads and keeps shooting people. Including your mother. You think to yourself that your handgun is 100 feet away, but you didn't bring it in because you wanted to obey the law. Now you regret abiding by that law instead of carrying your pistol with you into the restaurant. What would you do if that happened to you? -- Rob
