I believe that being tased and then cuffed resulted in less injury to him and to the officers as opposed to if they had used force to subdue him. -- Rob

politicians? -- Rob

I saw officers following their use of force continuum to the letter. Someone they saw breaking a law was not complying with a lawful request to show ID. Now... how does stopping a jaywalker escalate to someone being tazed? We saw it on video. Having someone with you interfering with police business doesn't help the situation. Refusing lawful request doesn't help the situation. Don't lay this all on the officers. Officers on the street follow established procedures. If you start asking that they use their own judgement, then you start asking them to ignore policy and process. Is that what you really want? -- Rob

yappy dogs?!?!! That's too damn much... he's got to go -- Rob

This is beneath you. You know that's not what was said. no, what was said is that if someone doesn't purchase a class of product from one of the providers of that product (all large corporations) then they will not receive a certain tax credit and will have to pay the tax. (At least that's the way I understand the functional aspects of the individual mandate -- if I am incorrect, please educate me) -- Rob

And don't forget Roswell! There was nano-thermite in Roswell? -- Rob

I've often said (though I don't think here) that if you really want to understand how our government works, don't ask someone who was born here, ask a naturalized citizen. Sad yes. I had a TA in college for one of my government classes who was about to become a US citizen. It was genuinely interesting to listen to her discuss it with other students. (and she managed to keep opinion out of the classroom, though there were plenty of politics discussions over beer) -- Rob

Am I missing something obvious? How does sea-level rise more in one place than in another? -- Rob -
From what I understand, what was upheld was the tax that is enforced if you do not buy insurance. The "individual mandate". So the tax comes into play when you are not paying for health care directly. At least it wasn't upheld under the guise of interstate commerce. Interstate commerce is misused and abused enough as it is. -- Rob

and you are ASS-uming that was my intention when I really just wan't trying to spam the thread with crap that people could go read on their own. But you leapt to a different conclusion and now we have spammed the thread with bunch of useless crap instead. Maybe next time I'll just quote the entire article plus any comments so you don't have to click on anything. But then you'll hammer me for over-quoting. wait... you're a professor... it's not right unless it's done your way. (regardless of whether it's actually right or not) My bad. -- Rob

oh... I'm SO sorry for not quoting the entire article, and instead including the link to the source after quoting a paragraph that gives an idea about the tone of the article. Oh wait... no. I'm not sorry. Why do you think I was trying to hide anything? If I'd quoted everything except the bit you refer to, and not included the link, you'd have a leg to stand on. As it is, you're just looking kind of knee-jerk. What happened? You're usually so logical and level headed. Wait, that's bill. No, this is about right for you then. -- Rob

clearly another desperate denier. http://www.torontosun.com/2012/06/22/green-drivel everyone would do well to remember the final point in this article -- Rob

It's not a gun problem then. If the answer isn't around possession of the firearms, then the problem isn't related to the possession of the firearms. It's a violent crime problem. You keep calling this violent crime problem a gun problem. Yet you then say that gun restrictions wouldn't solve the problem. That sounds like a troll, or just adding drama to get responses. But you won't be dragged into this... sure... -- Rob

assuming 80/20% mix (which is wrong, and leaning towards the heavy end of the mix) it puts H2S just over 15% heavier than air. Enough for settling in still air. Don't pick nits... you claim to be a man of science. -- Rob

No. You missed the point. Bush wasn't running. "Anyone else" was all there was. then you were absent or not paying attention during the campaign as the claim was that McCain was just like Bush (oh wait, I just said that above... you just aren't reading what I type) -- Rob
