  1. I think the only senario where you would have time to aim for anything would be when you jump without a rig. The other times you would be pulling all the handles until your googles filled up with blood. So, if I jumped with out a rig, I would either aim for the nearest skydiver and ask to borrow his (he made need some persuading here . Or, if I was on my own, I would aim for that big pile of cardboard boxes the stunt men has just built on the new james bond movie set.
  2. I have four helmets. Full face - for Team RW-4 jumps. No need for wind in my face rather protection from feet in the face.Frap hat - for fun jumps.. Wind in the face is fun.Pro-Tec - for CRW jumps. Need to have the ears free so I can communicate under canopy.Camera Helmet - Dunno what this is for If you are undecided, buy a pro-tec. It's cheap. You can always use it for CRW later.
  3. For competition, droping weights is prohibited. But, you could always change your canopy for one of those para glider things.
  4. In the winter I tend to keep the exit height down as well. It's not as cold at 5000ft as it is a 14,000. Beware of the visor on full face helmets, more than once during track I have had it totally frost up. I could not see a thing until I had pulled and flipped the visor up.
  5. Dead easy to get a pro-tec on backwards. Seen it a number of times (this year). Never seen a frap hat or a video helmet on backwards though.
  6. Interesting post and have seen this problem often enough. Just a few thoughts from me...... Lintern is abviously pulling and pulling at the right time

  8. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Also, I believe it is important for instructors to jump student gear every once in a while, just so they will remember what the student is experiencing. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> I am not sure why jumping student gear should help you remember what a student is experiencing. Students generally don't think "wow this canopy is reeeaally Sloooowww" when they jump. Students don't usually think "better not go for the 180 degree hook because of a student cypres". The only way to remember what a student is experiencing is to think back to when you were a student. Even that might not work, every student is different. just my 2 cents worth.
  9. More than a 1000 jumps and the nerves still have not gone away. I just don't worry as much about being nervous these days. A thought that often pops into my head during the climb to altitude is "you gonna kill yerself doing this one day".
  10. I prerer the VX to the Vengeance (what I voted for) but assumed the VX was a 27 Cell canopy
