Ever jump with your canopy in backwards?
JSBIRD replied to MissBuffDiver's topic in Skydiving History & Trivia
I was witness to that one in 1986. Both guys impacted about 200 feet from where I was packing, and with the collective gasp rising from the ground as they entangled, it was very hard to miss. I had done some DC3 jumps with one of the guys a day or so before. 359 "Now I've settled down, in a quiet little town, and forgot about everything" -
I don't have personal experience with these guys, but have heard good things regarding the speed, safety and economy when moving with them. http://www.pods.com/subpages/moving.asp 359 "Now I've settled down, in a quiet little town, and forgot about everything"

Although quite rare since I'm an orphan, yesterday I "got included!" (at a local family's event) Oh, I did receive a tee shirt as well! That's a HUGE Christmas for me. 359 "Now I've settled down, in a quiet little town, and forgot about everything"

I just saw the sun for the first time in three days....oops, it's gone. Still windy though. Oh well, tomorrow is supposed to be better. 359 "Now I've settled down, in a quiet little town, and forgot about everything"

Check out the road cameras at www.cotrip.org I'm very glad to have my errands done for the next few days, as well as a fully stocked pantry and fridge. 359 "Now I've settled down, in a quiet little town, and forgot about everything"

There was a DZ in Humboldt TN... early 1970's... most of the jumpers later moved over to Covington TN with a small door Beech 18 as I recall. I first jumped there in December 1973... The guy who ran Covington was named Ron Blanchard. I think the DZ closed when the DZO went-in with a main-reserve entanglement. The old Humboldt Hummers might have included such jumpers as Greg "Long Death" Giles, and Ron "Dad" Carter, and perhaps Ray Hara started there before he later moved on to Birmingham where he started making the "Added Attraction", a modification that turned a 5 cell StratoStar into a higher performing 7 cell. Oh now, my brain cell is starting to hurt. I have to stop thinking. George Galloway I emailed George's post to a friend in Hawaii named Bud Germany, and here is his reply... "that woulda been my (Bud's) beech D18S...N3451B...Tom Bullion, Mike Babineaux, Bill Minyard ,Me (Bud), Mike Chue (capt. Wierd) Al Hawthorn, Billie Bahr, Jim Gibbs, Steve Chalfant, Rocky Walker, Ray Hara... gettin' hard now... gimme a little time... Humboldt Hummers... YEAH! took 7th at Z-hills in '73 10 man. beat out the Golden Knights as I recall. .... Buck (Bud's son) was born that weekend! bg" 359 "Now I've settled down, in a quiet little town, and forgot about everything"

Yeah, I'm on the high plains east of COS and it's very bad out here. I drove to the Calhan Post Office this morning, and got there right before they closed. So much for "Neither rain nor sleet, nor snow..." 359 "Now I've settled down, in a quiet little town, and forgot about everything"

Hop off at any interstate exit with lots of hotels/motels, then cruise the parking lots for a signal. Most will not have security, and you can log in, do yer thing and move on. 359 "Now I've settled down, in a quiet little town, and forgot about everything"

After some of the PM's I received regarding this performance, it's quite obvious that once viewed, you either "get it" or "don't". Sorry if you miss the point. 359 "Now I've settled down, in a quiet little town, and forgot about everything"

[url]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2u6k-99qcCE Kinda surprising how well the grey panthers pull this off. Old Fred has some pretty impressive pipes for a guy on O2. Words take on a whole new meaning as well. 359 "Now I've settled down, in a quiet little town, and forgot about everything"

Raise the float (ball) as high as you can and the water should stop. You can wire it up with a coat hanger until proper repairs can proceed. 359 "Now I've settled down, in a quiet little town, and forgot about everything"

The man is a certified genius...and near God like status in the (behind the scenes) music biz. He ain't much to look at, but he has got quite an ear. 359. "Now I've settled down, in a quiet little town, and forgot about everything"

Why do people insist that skydiving gear is too expensive?
JSBIRD replied to labrys's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
In 1976 my new gear was broken down like this... New custom WonderHog $300 New Strato Star $300 New Piglett2 reserve $300 How I miss the Good Ole Days. 359 "Now I've settled down, in a quiet little town, and forgot about everything" -
OK, someone is mixing up pounds and gallons. A frame mounted LP tank like mine, with a capacity of 86 gallons, is only allowed to be filled to 80%. The tank mechanism takes care of this, with no human input. This means that my 86 gallon tank will only hold 68.8 gallons of propane. With propane at 4.25 pounds per gallon, that means my 68.8 gallons of LP weighs in at 282.4lbs. A 20# tank holds 20 pounds. At 4.25 lbs per gallon, that gives you 4.44 gallons of LP per BBQ bottle. If a 20# bottle heats 940 gallons of water, that is 211.71 gallons heated per gallon of LP. With 68.8 gallons of LP on board, 68.8G LP x 211.71G Water = >14,500 gallons of hot water, Confused yet? 359 "Now I've settled down, in a quiet little town, and forgot about everything"

That's the kind of input I'm looking for! Thanks. How hot will it get the water? Most of the models I'm looking at will raise the temp only a certain number of degrees. And if you have 40F water coming in a 20 degree rise will still be a cold shower.... I'm living on the high plains of Colorado, where it's been known to get kinda cold at times. How hot your water gets is mostly based on two factors... 1. How cold is the incoming water? 2. How fast is the water flowing through your system? Even being here in the cold, if the water will flow through the hose to get to the demand heater, the RV500 will make it quite hot. In the event that the water from the heater isn't hot enough, all you need to do is slow the flow a bit with a controlling showerhead. Very unlikely you'll have 40* water. Water from a well or city system is more likely to be around the 55* degree range. Expect your regulated water temp to be around 115*...hotter than most can stand. I know a guy who has a take-out RV500 for sale...PM me if you want his contact info. 359 "Now I've settled down, in a quiet little town, and forgot about everything"

I'm living in a converted 40 foot diesel pusher bus, and installed a demand water heater that burns propane. It will heat 940 gallons of water from a 20# BBQ bottle. Since I carry an 86 gallon propane tank under my bus, in theory I can heat over 13,000 gallons of water. It's mighty fine to be able to take a shower as long as you like. Then again, if sex play in a hot shower is your thing, you'll never run out of hot water and have your fun spoiled. www.precisiontemp.com Works for me. 359 "Now I've settled down, in a quiet little town, and forgot about everything"

I ordered a new StratoStar around New Years 76, and remember it was one of the first I had seen with a slider...I was actually very happy it didn't have rings & ropes. It did come with a main container...very boxy shaped. I tied it to an old harness I had and jumped it with a chest mount reserve until my new WonderHog and Piglett2 arrived. I still have the canopy, although it's been equipped with a strap as a deployment device since 77 or so. 359 "Now I've settled down, in a quiet little town, and forgot about everything"

I put a Select Comfort Sleep Number bed in my converted coach. They offer an RV queen, with dual controls. What's my number? 100 for the last year. It has allowed me to cut down my thrice monthly chiropractor visits to twice a year. 359 "Now I've settled down, in a quiet little town, and forgot about everything"

I laughed when I read the earlier post with the crooked lawyer names on a flyer advertising... Shakem, Down & Bolt. My other favorite was always...Duey, Cheetum & Howe. Anyone have any others, real or imagined? 359 "Now I've settled down, in a quiet little town, and forgot about everything"
