A lot of us had quit a bit of fun with the Pulp Fiction quotes thread, I thought we should widen it. I know that not everyone is a walking encyclopedia of movie quotes, but I would think that everyone has a favorite line or two. Mine has to be form the Outlaw Josey Wales, that movie is ripe with tag lines! Josey Wales: You a bounty hunter? Bounty Hunter: A man has to do something these days to earn a living. Josey Wales: Dyin' ain't much of a living boy. My best skydiving buddy Mark, just shoots em form the hip. No context at all! Don’t tell you where there from, or work em into conversation, just drops em, and usually at the top of his voice. I guess delivery does have a lot to do with it. Did a couple of night loads this weekend. There was no moon and very little starlight, not good situation to land out of the lights, especially if you’re loaded much over 1/1. Anyway, we did have 3 land in the dark, one without a flair, sent him to the hospital in an ambulance. Turns out that he didn’t do any real damage to his back, or really hurt at all, but it could have been bad. That brings me to my point, he was wearing a camera, it was some interesting video, or at least audio. Talking about it later with the boys, I came up with a new answer to the age old question. “What do you do if the second parachute doesn’t work?”, “Turn off your camera!” you don’t want to film your own death! I tend to be less of a critic of spelling; if spell check can’t find it I’m screwed. One that bugs me is “I’ve got”, its redundant and stupid! The irony of this one is that it’s ubiquitous (that one took a few tries with spell check); I think you’ll even hear it on a network newscast. And what about irregardless (MsWord even thinks irregardless is a word)? Poor spellers of the world UNTIE! Experience is what you get when you thought you were going to get something else. AC DZ
