  1. Also if you can find a used stilleto 190 (rare), it would probably fly similar, heatwaves are a better deal brand new though and easier to pack. bloo ones ramon
  2. I don't know if this is good, but this e-mail address was on the web. pisakzn@icon.co.za/ Also give J. Michael a call at American Skydiving Systems 1 800-769-6064. He used to get Heatwaves for some jumpers in MS and he has really good prices because of volume. Good Luck ramon
  3. Luv my PC-5 also. Not crazy about the touch screen, but it is small and light, and in the sun on sportsmode, infinity focus, it can make some great looking video. bloo skies ramon
  4. Not to be off topic, but my friend Wane bought one and one of his riser covers keeps coming open (caused one reserve ride). This weekend it popped open while he was in the bathroom . He is dissapointed with it and wishes he got a mirage. I think they merely mis-sized a flap or a panel (I like them). He has not sent it back or dealt with the company so it is unkown how they would treat it. good luck ramon His is for a 135 though and it looks great, I've never seen one for a 150.
  5. I have a PC5. Granted it is a little shorter and fatter than the 110, but Bonehead makes a D box for it ($200...sheeeit). I bought a small ($95).5 wide anlge lens and it fits totally inside my D-Box thereby really minimizing the potential of knocking of the lens. The bigger lenses tens to jut outside or if not on a Dbox, be totally exposed. As far as tangled lines....I don't have a ring sight or a top mount camera. personally I would be prepared to remove the helmet and cutaway without an RSL hookup , get stable and then pull reserve. Bloo skies and be cautious. ramon
  6. I uh...der...duh...wasn't sure who you were till the last time I saw you. Sort of thought you jumped at Waller also. sorry bloo skies ramon
  7. I do and so does Zennie sometimes, and a girl named Ann (Airann). fly free ramon
  8. That sucks. Well I guess they will always be a second tier manufacturer (never in league with Javelin, Vector or Mirage). Do you know anyone with a Reflex dealership who might personally know someone over there that can push some "buttons", or maybe a Master rigger type with some connections? ramon
  9. Karen made my jump suit; blue and black with grey stripes on the side. I made jumps with Goat and TJ and my buddies that came down there from Houston. I'll look for you next time I'm up there. Ramon
  10. Sheee! Maybe your riser covers go back too deep and your risers are snagging your reserve container. Are your risers short? I have 300 jumps on my reflex (triathlon1.3, stilleto1.3, Space1.5 Samurai 1.5) with barely any off heading openings or line twists. Although I really notice when I am lazy packing and don't leave 16-18" left over from my last stow, I tend to get some twists. bloo skies ramon
  11. I'm only snooty to RW skygods (the ones that never organize or participate with the newbies, they never get beer from me). Unfortunately I still have to kiss the Freefly skygods butts to get a little face time...but not too much longer (my buddies and I are improving ). fly free. ramon
  12. Hmmmm. Disclaimer: I do like this guy socially. To tell you the truth, he and I were friends on the ground. He is one of those sky gods really serious about 4 way and 8 way and most regulars were not good enough for him. I freefly now anyway so I don't care if skygods are snooty, I'm snooty right back. However for a cute girl....he might make time...ha ha...as most males do. I would think there are probably quite a few skygods at Deland. I wish you luck it is hard to get really good people to jump with you when you're a newbie. I was lucky enough to become friends with one of my instructors who sort of took me under his wing and made jumps with me once in a while. bloo skies ramon
  13. Ahhh. You might know Billy Andrews then. blond hair fair skin, hardcore RW guy. He was a friend that moved out there. Ramon
  14. I was asking freaksis, I noticed she is in texas. Where in Florida do you jump, I'm heading to Z-hills this summer. bloo skies ramon
  15. Freaksis, Hey were you at the Flocks boogie this weekend? What do you look like? I wonder if I spoke to you. bloo skies ramon Edited by ramon on 5/1/01 09:19 AM.
  16. http://www.profile-research.de/ Can someone read the German description of this canopy. I can't make heads or tails of the website and the english portion is incomplete. It looks like the same parachute that has the little winglets on top. I am very curious to know about their function. It looks like the same parachute skydpot was going to sell under the name "Vortex" before they dissappeared off of the net. Anybody....anybody....Buhler? bloo skies ramon
  17. Yah. Light variable winds = "Watch the fuck out!" ha ha. I hate that, "sub 100" FXs/VXs all landing cross wind for fun and then the rest of the load lands every which way. bloo skies ramon
  18. Warning: I mention eliptical parachutes here..flame away. See if you can borrow or demo a 190 nine cell, If it feels fun, comfortable and safe try one of the following for a little spice A samurai is the best behaved eliptical I have ever jumped (fantastic on heading openeings, very little oversteer and softer toggle input compared to a stilleto or aplha at the same loading). It builds up nice speed and is easy to land once you learn the flare point, it is great in turbulence, and will make it back from a hella spot. I think one loaded at 1.2-1.3 just might be the most forgiving choice for a first eliptical canopy out there. also Brian Germaine will make you any size you want (well no smaller than 90 or so). my buddy tom (230 pounds without gear had Brian make him a 180, and he loves it. Only thing is they are hell to gather up on a windy day (the canopy stays inflated...watch out) Also, many people have been raving about the Hornet by PISA. they are very inexpensive >1000 brand new and "claims" are that is more "responsive" than a sabre. It is lightly eliptical (that meaning it has just a little elipticla flavor, not severely eliptical like a stilleto). This might cause an arguement, but, If you stand up all your landings and tell the truth on your accuraccy landings then... A large stilleto can be docile, but they are rare (maybe a 190). I jumped a 170 loaded at 1.32 and it had nice flat glide, was very well behaved (no wacky openings and easy to land (I had 200 jumps at the time). It did not matter how I packed it or if I mis-judged the wind direction or approach, that canopy took care of me. At that size it was fun, but I felt very safe. A stilleto's character at 1.5 is another story, was very different and opened like you expect them too (dancing left and right). Of course most people are loading their stilletos up 1.5 and higher, so it is reare to find a big one. I would not load one less than 1.2 though (although PDs original max recommended loading for them was 1.3) because it is thought they might be less stable in turbulence when lightly loaded than say, a sabre (although I doubt that it is a really big difference, probobaly is less stable than a 7 cell in turbulence, but 7 cells are more stable than most of the non cross braced, non-airlocked 9 cells out there in turbulence so what do you do) My choice would be a used alpha or Space or Cobalt when you are ready for a big step in performance, but that can wait, I am not sure you could find a 190 version of those and a 170 would have you at 1.5 which is starting to get pretty aggressive and requires experience. Talk to some experienced canopy pilots, whose opinions you trust, at your DZ and see what they have to say. You can always get demo parachutes. bloo skies ramon

    gear in Houston

That's ok though because you can tell him a "Mexican" said it. he he. Have fun, that is a cool DZ bloo skies Ramon

    gear in Houston

If Levin doesn't go to Dallas and freefly with me this weekend. yuk yuk yuk. If he is at Spaceland (skinny, jeans, big texas belt buckle, red and yellow gear) tell him Ramon said he was a pussy for not coming to dallas. If he does come to dallas they can still help you at Spaceland. bloo skies ramon
  21. I have been to 4 DZs since I have moved to Texas and Spaceland is my favorite. The indoor packing area is airconditioned and really big (good place to crash). It is a Brand new facility. The landing area is huge, the off landing areas are pretty open and safe, and there is a huge swoop ditch and a pond. It is a young dz so there aren't really any clicks (except Deguello the 8-16 way RW team, and they are really nice and organise jumps for lower time RW folks) They just upgraded their otter to a super otter and now it is 15 minute turnarounds. There is a good mix of folks and skill levels, except I must say there are no crew dogs (my two friends have been making 2 stacks, but that is it). Only thing that would make it top notch would be a hot tub, bunk rooms and more freefliers
  22. Out the door I was 220. My first main at (35 jumps experience) was a triathlon 175. No problems although triathlons are more forgiving for newbies at that wingloading than a 9 cell. bloo skies ramon
  23. One weird coincidence. Precision was going to manufacture Brian Germain's canopies to help him keep up with demand( Samurai, etc), but Brian told me Precision decided not to do that. Who knows, but they still have Brian's designs on computer bloo ones ramon
  24. Duh, took the words out of my mouth. Yeah, most of the "old hand" skydivers, not "posters to DZ.com" send as reliable information as they can to Barry for his database. Blue Skies, Black Death. ramon

    SCR!

Congratulations! It will be hard to beat that weekend for a while. Many times Scotty's loads don't go so well, but alas...he does organize bigs ones for the newbies all the time. Often if some deguello team mebers and some more experienced jumpers are there to help the lower time jumpers, the loads go off great. glad you had fun ramon
