  1. Hi Keith, Re: '<Bigun steps off his soapbox>' As much as I disagree with you on a number of issues, you stay right up there and continue to keep on keeping on. Jerry Baumchen PS) “I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.”
  2. Hi Robert, WOW, you and I think alike; scary. About 10-12 yrs ago, I tried this with one of my county commissioners and got exactly nowhere. None of the small city mayors in this county ( somewhere around 25 cities ) wanted anything to do with giving up 'their' police dep'ts. I am still all for it. Jerry Baumchen
  3. Hi science, #1) We were all 'quite new' once. Nothing wrong about that. #2) As do I. However, I'm a 'mostly' ret'd Mech Engr & always thinking about what could be. #3) A very early ram-air design by Pioneer Parachute Co. I no longer have any documents related to parachutes, rigging, etc. I think it was shown & discussed in Poynter's very first edition of the Parachute Manual. Jerry Baumchen PS) So far in this thread, it does seem as though all of the calculations on the forces experienced during an opening(s) are using the idea of the forces being constant during the opening sequence. That is simply not true of any parachute that I have ever known of.
  4. Hi science, I have no idea of how old you are or how long you've been in this skydiving 'thingy' of ours. And, this is not to be disrespectful of you; I actually like your posts. Pioneer built risers with shock absorbers ( hydraulic pistons/shocks ) back in the early days of ram-air canopies. They were bulky & did not work consistently. Then the slider came along and superseded everything that was being tried. Jerry Baumchen PS) Please do ask me to tell you much more than this; the old memory is getting old. Hmmm, maybe the VolPlane???????????
  5. To all you Brits, https://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-13118290 She meant so much to your country when you really needed her. I still enjoy listening to her sing. Jerry Baumchen
  6. Hi Quag, Why would you unpick & retack? Jerry Baumchen
  7. Hi Ken, I do not have intimate knowledge of the agreements. That is why I said just to not renew them. I think most of them would have a no 'bust' clause. Jerry Baumchen
  8. Hi Keith, I could not agree more. All agreements between all gov'ts & all police unions should not be renewed when they expire. Jerry Baumchen
  9. Hi folks, Add one more to the on-going list: 'Republican leaders condemn GOP candidate who made racist videos' https://www.politico.com/news/2020/06/17/house-republicans-condemn-gop-candidate-racist-videos-325579 You just have to wonder, where do they come from? Jerry Baumchen
  10. Hi Joe, And what percentage of male boating deaths are they found with their pants unzipped? Jerry Baumchen
  11. Hi Wendy, I think his biggest mistake was listening to Cheney too much. I thought that program on him was very fair. He seems to be a very nice guy. Jerry Baumchen
  12. Hi Keith, Good for you on sending it to all of them. YOU only have one Representative; as you live in her/his district. THAT is what I was referring to. Jerry Baumchen PS) Yea, I know; sort of nit-picking.
  13. Hi Robert, The story that will not die. Jerry Baumchen
  14. Hi Bill, And, he could ask those questions about Tulsa. What color were the rioters? What color were the looters? What color were the murderers? What color were the bombers? Inquiring minds want to know. Jerry Baumchen
  15. Hi Keith, And I'm going to do the same. Jerry Baumchen PS) Re: 'US Representatives.' You only have one; it is the senators that you have two of.
  16. Hi Keith, One of best ideas that I have heard of. Good on you, Jerry Baumchen
  17. Hi Rob, Well, they could find a grumpy, old, grey bearded Master Rigger to make them one. Jerry Baumchen PS) And, this is why I advise owners to always have a set of spare parts for their rig.
  18. Hi Dekker, And the real problem is that they do not even see it. H***, I didn't see it for most of my life. Jerry Baumchen
  19. Hi Joe, I've never tried, so I do not know. You, youngster? Jerry Baumchen
  20. Hi Ron, Correct. However, I think you are talking about yourselves; you know, with all those 'arms 'that you have. Jerry Baumchen
  21. Hi John, I'm older than you & I can do all of that very easily. Jerry Baumchen
  22. Hi John, You see, that is the problem with words; they have definitions. Jerry Baumchen
  23. Hi Binary, That is pretty close; nicely done. IMO the problem is: ' . . . "release RSL on one side before cutaway" requirement).' That simply requires too much of the jumper when encountered with a malfunction. Jerry Baumchen
  24. Hi Mark, Hmmm, inferiority complex??? Or am I wrong? Jerry Baumchen
