    Hi Alex, Possibly your reading skills need improvement. I posted: only LEO's & the military. I would also add Border Patrol, etc; however, I do consider them LEO's. Re: so nobody else should carry to defend themselves or somebody else? When I consider the carnage that continues to take place in this country, I would support this. Jerry Baumchen

Plus, 44 of the US states. I have never had the need to carry a gun/rifle/etc. I do not consider that I live with evil all around me. Will someone come into my house tonite & kill me? Less probability than someone coming to my granddaughter's school and blazing away. In my entire lifetime, I have only known of one person who ever fired a gun inside of a house.     Hi airdvr, Re: Gas prices like this will kill an economy. As others have said, not so. I first went to Europe in '61. The English paid very high prices for fuel & an insanely ( what I thought at the time ) high road tax. I could not understand how they could live with taxes like that. Boy, what I did not know. While these high prices will slow the growth of GDP, it will not will kill an economy. At least, not as I define it. I am quite sure that it will have a negative effect on one's stock portfolio.     Hi jakee, Having read the book twice, I think that the Wiki link in incorrect. While I do not have a perfect memory, I think that in the book Capote writes that Smith killed the mother, daughter & son with a knife. I could be wrong. Jerry Baumchen

    Hi Wendy, You have spent a substantial amount of time in Brazil. Back in the 90's, I made 6 trips down there on business. One thing that I noticed early on was what seemed like a total lack of maintenance of their infrastructure. It is everywhere. We cannot let something like that happen here. Jerry Baumchen

    Hi Ken Yup, two men in the crime; but, only Smith actually killed anyone. The actual crime was Hickok's idea, Smith just went along; and, then did the actual killings. And, yes they were tied up. That is why I said it was easier with a gun. Jerry Baumchen

    Hi Joe, I am definitely no expert. However, I believe that we all have a very dark location within our psyche'. The vast majority of us never get to that point where it surfaces. We control it without ever knowing that we are doing so. I have always thought his avatar was very strange; and not in fun. Jerry Baumchen PS) I've read about too many of these things over the course of my lifetime. I simply cannot understand killing one's family; esp the children. If you want to kill YOURSELF, go ahead.
