  1. Hi Joe, When I was about 10 yrs old, I was attacked by a rather large, to me, German Shepherd dog. He got me in my right thigh. Somethings in life you never forget. I don't like any dogs, no matter the size. I do not hate them, I just want nothing to do with them. Jerry Baumchen
  2. Hi Joe, The other day I saw a short tv news clip of Moscow Mitch telling us that we need stronger mental health laws. Of the shooters just this year, who used AR-15's, which one of them would fail a mental health exam? I seriously doubt that even one would. All this jaw flapping about background checks & more money for mental health is, IMO, not going to stop the carnage. It just kicking the can down the road. Something almost every politician is very good at. Jerry Baumchen
  3. Hi Ian, Since the device will be a crude, 1-time only thing, rather than cutting a hole in it [ maybe difficult to get your hand out, if needed ], just get a small piece of plastic tubing, fold over one end & sew the tubing in. This gives you something to easily hold yet easy to get rid of, if necessary. Jerry Baumchen
  4. Hi Rob, Re: If those conservatives were wiser Therein lies their problem. Jerry Baumchen
  5. Hi Bill, As the, then Saudi Oil Minister said many years ago, 'The Stone Age did not end because they ran out of rocks.' Jerry Baumchen

  9. Hi folks, de Gaulle tried it with little success: French officials told to abandon gaming Anglicisms - BBC News IMO it's like trying to push water upstream; you just cannot do it. Jerry Baumchen
  10. Hi John, Re: It's the same set I think it is sort of like an addiction. Some people can be cured of any addiction with easy treatable methods. Some, can never conquer any addiction they suffer. Johnny Carson, long-time host of the TONIGHT show, was a lifelong smoker. I understand he tried every method available to quit. It eventually killed him. Jerry Baumchen
  11. Hi Bill, Your list is a perfect example of the old, 'Hey, look over here.' The GOP knows that their support of guns unlimited is what gets them votes. And, that they do not want to change, ever. IMO the only solution is to vote out the GOP in every office everywhere. Although, I do like Joe Weber's idea on taxing the hell out of the ammo. Jerry Baumchen
  12. Hi Rob, I'm thinking that the North Vietnamese Army troops were more motivated than today's Russian Army troops. Jerry Baumchen
  13. Hi folks, When you cannot beat them at the ballot box; well, there just has to be another way to do it: ‘It’s going to be an army’: Tapes reveal GOP plan to contest elections - POLITICO Jerry Baumchen
  14. Hi kleggo, I remember seeing that ad back then and thinking, 'He could not be more right.' Jerry Baumchen
  15. Hi Joe Weber, Are guns allowed at SDO? Having never taken one there, I simply do not know. Jerry Baumchen
  16. Hi folks, I guess that Oklahoma is not OK: 1 dead, 7 injured in Oklahoma festival shooting: officials - oregonlive.com Jerry Baumchen PS) Let's see - Do not attend elementary school - Do not attend festivals - Good grief, what is next?
  17. Hi Joe, He's taken his lessons from Hitler. Jerry Baumchen PS) Enlistment is not conscription. PPS) My brother was drafted in early 1962. At that time, an enlistee's service number began with RA ( Regular Army ). My brother, the draftee, had a service number that began US. Just for you trivia folks. Also, it may have changed, but that's how it was then.
  18. Hi folks, From the only large newspaper in Oregon: And if our elected officials cannot muster that courage, it’s up to us to change leaders and change laws. Editorial: Change leaders, change laws for meaningful gun reform - oregonlive.com Jerry Baumchen
  19. Hi Bill, Re: Nuclear waste storage has become a non-issue. For many years utility companies paid huge money to the feds to develop a US permanent repository at Yucca mountain. It was never built and the utilities sued to get money back. They solved it with a dry cask system for storage on site. Simple, relatively inexpensive, and it works, and NRC approved. Same old horse-puckey that we were sold regarding storage at Hanford. Isn't working now, and probably never will. Just kick the can down the road, next guy's problem. Re: The field guys would send in the changes and it would take weeks/months to get the revised drawing completed and approved by NRC. In 30-yrs working as an engineer, I have never seen a set of 'as-builts' that were accurate. Jerry Baumchen
  20. Hi folks, An interesting turnaround: Hillsboro dad goes viral for surrendering guns; here’s how to get rid of yours - oregonlive.com Jerry Baumchen
  21. Hi Alex, Re: her DFWAJG thing. People generally know what that means I don't. I Googled it & came up with nothing. Re: and who on the planet doesn’t know Dawnmarie anyway. I don't. Wanna try again? Jerry Baumchen PS) Re: why are we fighting about if Dawnmarie is a girl? I'm not. Why did you include me in any such group?
  22. Hi Alex, Since all I know of you is from your posting here; that is what the old saying about people living in glass houses, etc. Try some courtesy on here and see how it goes; for a change. Jerry Baumchen
  23. Hi Alex, Going on nothing more than BV's postings, he & I are nothing alike. Other than being white males. You are wrong, again. Jerry Baumchen
  24. Hi Alex, IMO it is OK if we agree to disagree. However, when it comes to stopping this carnage, I think that people that think like you are the are the problem. Jerry Baumchen PS) Sorry for the formatting.
  25. Hi Ken, I think you have hit the nail on the head. Jerry Baumchen
