Hi Joe, He's taken his lessons from Hitler. Jerry Baumchen PS) Enlistment is not conscription. PPS) My brother was drafted in early 1962. At that time, an enlistee's service number began with RA ( Regular Army ). My brother, the draftee, had a service number that began US. Just for you trivia folks. Also, it may have changed, but that's how it was then.

Hi folks, From the only large newspaper in Oregon: And if our elected officials cannot muster that courage, it’s up to us to change leaders and change laws. Editorial: Change leaders, change laws for meaningful gun reform - oregonlive.com Jerry Baumchen

Hi Bill, Re: Nuclear waste storage has become a non-issue. For many years utility companies paid huge money to the feds to develop a US permanent repository at Yucca mountain. It was never built and the utilities sued to get money back. They solved it with a dry cask system for storage on site. Simple, relatively inexpensive, and it works, and NRC approved. Same old horse-puckey that we were sold regarding storage at Hanford. Isn't working now, and probably never will. Just kick the can down the road, next guy's problem. Re: The field guys would send in the changes and it would take weeks/months to get the revised drawing completed and approved by NRC. In 30-yrs working as an engineer, I have never seen a set of 'as-builts' that were accurate. Jerry Baumchen

Hi Alex, Re: her DFWAJG thing. People generally know what that means I don't. I Googled it & came up with nothing. Re: and who on the planet doesn’t know Dawnmarie anyway. I don't. Wanna try again? Jerry Baumchen PS) Re: why are we fighting about if Dawnmarie is a girl? I'm not. Why did you include me in any such group?

Hi Alex, Since all I know of you is from your posting here; that is what the old saying about people living in glass houses, etc. Try some courtesy on here and see how it goes; for a change. Jerry Baumchen

Hi Alex, Going on nothing more than BV's postings, he & I are nothing alike. Other than being white males. You are wrong, again. Jerry Baumchen

Hi Alex, IMO it is OK if we agree to disagree. However, when it comes to stopping this carnage, I think that people that think like you are the are the problem. Jerry Baumchen PS) Sorry for the formatting.

Hi DF, Re: The purpose of the 2nd amendment is to protect ourselves from our government. You cannot legally or illegally obtain enough weaponry to successfully take on a SWAT vehicle & it's occupants. We live in a different world than 1776. IMO you have to be fantasizing if you truly think you can out-gun the gov't. Jerry Baumchen

Hi John, In Reagan's case, I think it was the truth. IMO he was definitely suffering from early on-set dementia; especially during his 2nd term. Jerry Baumchen -

Hi Sky, For a short period in my life, I was a local firefighter. I can assure you that once again the GOP has come up with a very stupid solution. They are getting real good at it. Jerry Baumchen

Biden’s war on fossil fuel and gas price timeline
JerryBaumchen replied to brenthutch's topic in Speakers Corner
Hi airdvr, Inflation always hurts the poor the most. Gas price increases are nothing like food price increases. However, when you look at all the people here and their costs for basic essentials, they are better off than a lot of people around the world. If you are really concerned about the poor, then you would support a re-distribution of wealth in the country. Something that I support. I live alone in a 2,000 sq ft house. I do not need it. I increased the size to make money when it is sold. IMO people here should quit complaining about the prices of gas, it is cheaper than almost any other place in the world. We've always had cheap gas here. People simply want that to never change. Jerry Baumchen -
Hi Alex, So, tell me about the last time you had to defend yourself in this country. Jerry Baumchen

Hi Alex, I cannot and will not speak for Joe Weber. The petition effort I listed in my post to him has a 10-round limitation. Jerry Baumchen

Hi Wendy, That fails to address my argument. Almost always a cheaper car to own & operate is an option. Motor scooter, anyone? Jerry Baumchen
