    And the probability number they picked was 60%, not 70, 80, 90 or 100%. It's climate, which is a little bit like roulette, not like making pancake batter for your kids where you know how many pancakes you'll get before the first ladle. That's why when you say 600, 700 or 800PPM Carbon is salubrious and a fine price to pay on the way to fusion power in 2060 eyes roll. The atmosphere is not a recipe. Predictions can falter and awful failure can easily follow success. Sort of like swooping as I think about it.

    I'm not familiar with the factors, besides sea surface temperatures and bad luck, that determine the numbers and intensities of typhoons in the pacific. For the permanent record, I'm not claiming I know anymore that just a little about Atlantic hurricanes most of which was learned from dodging them.

    Seems is the operative word. Warming seas increase the probability of Atlantic Hurricanes. That probability by NOAA, I think, was for a 60% chance of more hurricanes, a 30% chance of a normal season and a 10% chance of fewer hurricanes. But other factors can offset or reduce the probability. For example, Saharan dust cover reflects the suns energy and temporarily reduces sea surface temperatures, thus reducing the probability of hurricane formation. Earlier this season, just as hurricane season was getting an early start, there was significant and thick SAL coverage in lower latitudes for a period of time. It happens but I'm not sure if it's predictable or included in the NOAA model. In any case it's not like NOAA predicted a 100% chance of more hurricanes. They know better, I'm thinking.

    Any other details, for example would a named Hurricane that dissipated at sea count?

    Just so I know how you will score the season, will it be decided by the number of named storms, the total intensity of all storms or the total dollar amount of destruction?

    And you were spot on. Isn't the 38% number remarkable? That's just 10% away from an electoral college victory and 13% away from a senate seat. No wonder they do the despicable things they do to hold on the the base.

But it does speak to the level of anti-religious bigotry, double standards and seeds of hate that we see in this forum, which I would say are in the germinating stages if compared to what we saw with the soviets. I have no idea what you're talking about, and quite frankly neither do you. Do not want unbelievers to believe as you have been taught to believe? Do you not want unbelievers to find Jesus and gather together in exaltation?

    Coreece, Thank you again for more of your million word repetitive posts where, once again, you project your own doubts and confusions. At the end of the day all that you bring to the table are wish thinking and fear of being wrong. You have nothing that has a chance of proving what you believe is true. As your argument, you want we naysayers to accept as of equal value your gut feelings and the teachings of your parents. You want us to feel the exaltation you have felt in the company of like believers. Well, here's the good for us news: we do feel that in like minded company. But all of the discussions are of facts that are testable and the new stuff we learn feels so very real because it is. Until you open your mind to thinking about the world as it really is you will never know how wonderful that feels.

    And OANN, too? Screw that. I hope there is a Blue Wave and a will to rub noses in doo-do. I hope they get after it with systemic change and to effective hell with the 38% moron base. Play to them but ignore them. I'd like to see the Supreme Court expanded as well as the Circuit Courts. Flat out reverse everything Tump and then work to make a rerun impossible. The country has survived with the majority being pissed off, I suspect it will survive with the Trumpies being pissed off.

    I gave him the chance and he did speak up: he finds it deplorable. I don't know for sure but he may also find it unfortunate and regrettable. Those are pretty strong rebukes from a Trumpie. Of course, no way is it disqualifying.

    Sure. But he does get controlling the news cycle, that's indisputable. No matter, even with a clear attack by Trump on American elections and our history of peaceful transfer of power, today like yesterday and tomorrow won't see a single Trump apologist on this site say he's crossed a line and they've had enough.

    Even if I am confused, and I'll look to Coreece for further clarification, I'm only confused by a few percent. In any case, grabbing a ballot and grabbing a gun aren't equivalent actions. You wouldn't happen to have data on how the officers voted versus enlisted, would you? Seems to me that might have a few clues in it.
