My Dad got the Presidential Unit Citation for his squadron obliterating an important target on his 21st birthday. He did some missions bombing targets at Oswiecim (Auschwitz) but not the camp. One can only imagine how hard a decision that targeting would have been.

Well, since I crashed I think motor sports are stupid, too. Besides, you can sit on your porch and watch cars go by for free and drink good booze instead of racetrack plonk. You must have never flown a variety of cool aircraft if you would analogize aviation to hitting a bongo drum the same way, again and again, which is what target practice is more akin to.

Time for the Germans to stop deploring and start warring. They need to release all restrictions on users of Leopard 2's and the US needs to expedite the shipment of Bradley's, Patriots, and any land based anti-ship missiles we can offer. We also need to max out the numbers of HIMAR's M30A1 Anti-Personnel munitions from ourselves and our stalwart NATO allies. Seriously, it would be nice if all citizens of all NATO countries would accept that expensive military hardware is what saves the world from autocracy not thank you's and empty promises to help with reconstruction.

Along those lines, as Chair, I would immediately introduce a bill calling for the brutal whipping of anyone who: 1. Has knowingly allowed, caused, was party to, or lived nearby anyone who has improperly cellared good wine. 2. Rode on a motorcycle while rapping the exhaust when within 100 meters of a vineyard during harvest.

You're missing the point. It's no coups de grâce any more than if 6 moderate R's joined the D's in voting for Jeffries. In either case the smart money would likely bet for a quick unwinding. The best that could be hoped for is taking a half step from them going into 2024 by creating even more dissension in their ranks. In the big scheme of things that would be a huge win, I'm thinking.

You miss the point entirely by being small picture. 1. If McCarthy accepts D votes to be Speaker it's not the Lib's getting owned, it's McCarthy getting owned. 2. If he does accept it will show that he's nothing less than a whore. 3. The shit storm from the extreme wing will be epic, make the media daily, and help show how unable to govern are the R's. Even if it falls apart right away what's not to like?

Seems to me a deal that gives 6 D votes and thus the speakership to McCarthy in exchange for no committee assignments for Greene, Boebert, Biggs, Gaetz, and Gomert, et al. would be not only a fair swap but a joyous belly laugh.
