Non answer. You simply can not know that, you might guess that or hope that but no more. Given the prevalence of homosexuality in nature how can you not suspect it is a natural thing, not a choice? There are cultures unaffected by Christianity, the matriarchal Gunas of Guna Yala for one example, that accept overt homosexuality and cross dressing as perfectly normal. Can you not suspect it is in their DNA?

I didn't read this as a first person account. To be clear, I have taken your viewpoint to be that of a privileged white male. If a misapprehension has cause me to wrong you I apologize. Please then, as I suspect I am not alone in that misunderstanding, describe the acts of overt racism from which you have suffered such that we can better comprehend why you find so called "wokeness" offensive.
-
I'm guessing that actual victims of racism would argue that the receipt of actual racism is not comparable to the mere endurance of perceived racism. But then maybe your capacity for empathy has been vastly underrated here.

I’ve been busy. So, care to give an honest answer?

Not really, but then I was also not one of those kids who checked under the bed or feared the closet.

"Rep. George Santos, R-N.Y., is backing a bill to make the AR-15 rifle — a gun that has been used in some of the deadliest mass shootings in the country — the "National Gun of the United States." Santos this week joined primary sponsor Rep. Barry Moore, R-Ala., in backing the bill, as did gun store owner Rep. Andrew Clyde, R- Ga., and Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Colo., who ran a gun-themed restaurant called "Shooters Grill."" What could possibly make more sense or be more useful? Brent, you must be so proud.

Try this: https://www.npr.org/2023/02/18/1157972219/fox-news-election-fraud-claims-vs-what-they-knew You can try to parse things as you will but the reality is that FOX, by and through it's "Stars", fomented the belief amongst it's viewers that election fraud was rampant and the election was stolen by feeding questions and answers to invited guests they knew were lying.

Even if he is, and that's a level of subtlety he's never exposed to date, his work is all still ahead and good luck getting a cogent explanation of his intended nuance. No, he is simply oblivious to his non stop hypocricy.
-
If you believe that is true, how do you square that with your denigrating dismissals of the lifestyles and beliefs of others who were "born this way"? Is it not likely that homosexuality etc. etc. is in those of your fellow human beings DNA?
-
I’d apologize to Brent before drinking Costco swill. BTW, the Abuelo 12 is surprisingly drinkable if you like a little smokiness and very well priced.

Winsor is not fatalistic. It's easy to not capture his thinking. To be sure, I think his ideas on human nature are inexact but his focus is not on what we think and, yes, he disregards the societal impact on certain individuals and groups. But he is spot on about the future which should be our focus.
-
Forgive them for they know not what they do, or say.
-
That's trivial and not at all what Winsor is saying if I get at all what he is saying.
-
Winsor is brilliant, especially compared to junkyard dogs like me, for example, and highly educated too. I think it's a bit unfair to condemn his transient points without contextualizing those with his dominant point which is that in the long term we are fucked. For sure that's a hard point to argue.

Brent's not a Troll, he's something different. He's like the kid who sneaks downstairs to the adult party and tosses a frog into the punchbowl. The only reason it's useful to call him a Troll is because under the dysfunctional SC system it's one of the few ad hominem attacks we're allowed.
-
So, no, you don't have any useful or credible info. If Brent gave that answer you'd have skewered him.

My understanding is that in the beginning the home guard took a shellacking while the military training pipeline was being developed. They're a country of 44 million and it seems the patriotic mood is high. What makes you think Ukraine isn't training more soldiers in a sustainable way?
-
I, for one, haven't cared a whit about Russia's Army attacking NATO for a while; it's long been an open secret that corruption in the Russian kleptocracy included their Armed Forces with money being siphoned off instead of invested. I'm also not calmed by a failed Russian ICBM launch anymore than a North Korean failure. Russia has thousands of warheads and, just like their infantry, they won't care if only half make it through. All said and done, while the war in Ukraine seems to be going as well as can be hoped for it's plain folly to think that Putin is the only Russian madman with a finger on a button.

It’s the attitude that we are the world’s savior that drives our bloated defense budget and gives people like Bin Laden the idea that with a little goading we’ll happily bash our heads against the wall. Biden is organizing a real coalition, not like Bush’s absurd coalition of the willing. Yes it’s rough on Ukrainians but it’s not always our soldiers turn to die.
-
For one, we don’t do get in and out very well. Second, rope a dope is a proven winning strategy. The US army doesn’t need to arrive on the ground owing to anyones interpretation of right, wrong, or whether we’ve crossed any artificially created belief threshold. Even if it is right to be more involved it’s even righter to prepare the battle field first. Please be reminded that the last two times we jumped in with both feet it went to hell regardless of how many NATO soldiers died or how much money we spent. So far things are working.
-
Except Nixon wasn’t pulling out of Alabama. I reiterate that our current strategy is spot on. Yes, it’s tough on Ukrainians but it’s not Maryland on Russias border. Contain the scope and boil the Russian frog until internally the pain is so great that the strongman’s power is at risk. I think, and I’m just some yo, that Putin will choose being leader of a weakened Russia over being no leader at all. He’ll still control the media in what is essentially a third world country outside of Moscow and Saint Petersburg. Milton’s observation rules.
-
Totally. No more Brandon, now it’s got to be Mo-Jo Joe.
-
I read he took a 10 hour train ride with a small security detail, medical team and no air cover. Best, if true, they notified Moscow in advance he was going. That’s some serious beat down. That’s saying that if anything happens we’ll call it an intentional attempt on Biden and you really don’t want us thinking that. Have a borscht day.
-
In truth, SC is becoming more like training day than an interactive forum of exchanged ideas. To wit, the unfortunate exception of Winsor noted, it is becoming very boring. No surprise that our our most erudite poster is becoming more distant. So the prayer wheel spins.

Buddy of mine has a friend who knows a guy. This guy's wife is a Trans-portation official whose boss is a super happy guy, if you get my drift. Word is that all emissions from gas, and gas emissions, will be banned in the EU in 2035. So much for Skydiving in Europe, seems to me. Maybe the soon to be announced Cookie G18 will have an effective gas filtration system and they have someone who answers the phone who can also explain why an exemption makes sense. Interesting times.
