True, drives do have a motor for the platters and the electromagnetic actuator for the arm. However, the holographic will have moving parts as well, even if it's just the optics for laser tracking. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

In soviet russia, holograms store YOU! Seriously though, this is a nice step, but they're not hitting 1TB until 2009. Hell, there are desktop drives at 500GB right now and one vendor is roadmapped to release a 1TB desktop drive next year. That's 1TB of goodness in a 3.5" form-factor. I just remembered! Mullins' King Air will be at Oklahoma Skydiving Center May 14th-15th. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

Thanks for the arm tips. I'll work on those as well. As for the cables, I'm attaching an annotated version of the geekin' pic. The cables are properly stowed, run through the housings, and nothing has been cut. Thanks for the tips! Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

Thanks for the info, Ed. I'll definitely try that out on my next flights. And, I wouldn't call it smoke canister quality...it was more like the vapor trail from a C-130. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

I could be wrong, but I think the closest Turbines would be Skydive Dallas and Archway near St. Louis. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

Bah... I live in Oklahoma...in this state, we call those clouds a good start. There's a reason why most of the nation's meterologists are trained here. Some people are still trying to decide if they want to revamp the Fujita scale to include an F6 definition after the famous May 3rd, 1999 tornado tore through here a few years back. The winds were believed to easily exceed 318mph. BTW, the damage cone on that one was over a mile wide on the ground. Fujita Scale Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

Phree and I managed to get in a WS dive yesterday at SDD. It looks like I've still got a lot to work on, but it was a fun dive nonetheless. Keeping my legs out and keeping both wings properly tensioned seem to be the biggies right now. I was able to hit high 60's, low 70's during my last jump 5 months ago and it looks like I got seriously rusty in the interim as this was all in the low 90's. Big thanks to Phreezone for bringing along his 10D and taking some really good shots. I'm open to any critiquing anyone might have. The full album is at http://www.phreezone.com/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=3&page=2 on pages 2 & 3.

He's probably better off with the diesel. Having an R1 as a first bike is equivalent to a freshly-licensed jumper getting a Velocity loaded 2:1 for their first canopy. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

Well, I was right....she didn't remember. There's a post by her in the Drunk Dial forum asking who she talked to this past weekend! Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

Yeah, I believe your ringer was off...not. I think your hearing is just going in your advanced age. It's okay though, you can make it up to me at the Skyfest Boogie in H-town this summer.

Nope, nobody can top Justi for drunkenness. That girl was feeling zero pain on Sat night. Hell, if she remembers talking to me and Phree I'll be quite amazed. And as for programming me in, I'd better be speed-dial #1, slackerette! Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

You have *got* to be kidding? Umm, hello? This is you we're talking about, Liz....the girl who never answers her phone during the weekends? Suuuure you couldn't get signal. Me and Phree believe you. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

Sigh...sadly, I can almost top that. This is my story of getting to hear Tori Amos play live tonight. I got home from Skydive Dallas around 9. On the way home, I stopped at Wal-Mart to pick a few things up, including a small pizza to throw in the oven. Now, since the woman and I moved in here, I've only used the oven's broiler to make some garlic bread. I pre-heated the oven to 400, then slid the pizza in. When I put the pizza in, I thought it felt hotter than it should but didn't think anything of it. The directions were to cook it for 16-18 minutes. I went down 10 minutes later to get some ice and the kitchen was full of smoke! I turned off the oven and stupidly opened the oven door. The pizza was fucking incinerated. All that was left was some carbon and a few licks of flame. And I'd just let out the other 99.875% of smoke by opening the damn door. Now the downstairs of the house is filled with smoke. I somehow found the back door and yanked it open. The breeze was wrong. It blew the smoke deeper into the house. Ya' ever get that sinking feeling right before something bad happens? I did...about 1/1000th of a second before the smoke alarm and house siren went off. So now I rush back into the smoke to find the alarm panel to bypass the smoke detector. Instead of bypassing it, I just killed the noise. 5 mins later as I have fans running, the phone rings. It's the OKC fire dept wanting to know if it's a real emergency. I tell them it isn't and thank them for their concern. Then my cell phone rings, It's the woman, who's in Dallas at the Tori Amos concert. Apparently, the alarm company also called her mom's house, which got her to freaking, then she calls Dianeme (the aforementioned "the woman") in TX, who then calls me. I assure her it's all well and good and under control and finally get her to believe me. But I did get to hear Tori singing in the background. Funny...I don't see a rigger rating in your profile. What are your specific gripes with the design of the Quasar verses the Mirage?
