  6. The iPod is the greatest invention next to the airplane and the parachute. I have the 20GB model and I would be lost without it. I use it while at work and I've got it wired into the AUX input in my monster car stereo. I've put it in people's hands with no instructions and they're using it like a pro after only 45 seconds of playing around on it. Including my 65 year old mother. It's also a great firewire HD and I use it to transfer files between computers when I don't have it too loaded down with music. I'm able to keep about 3500 songs on mine and you can setup playlists for your favorite tracks. It's good for about 10 hours on a charge if you don't use the backlight and about 5-7 hours if you do. The backlight is bright, so much so that I lay it face-down in the seat when I'm driving at night and the display is extremely easy to read. Can you tell I love my iPod? 7. Whoa! After seeing the pics, I have now accepted Chuck as my personal savior. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  8. 85::1 85mph down the taxi-way on our pilot's 2003 Yamaha YZF-R6. Yeah, he was dumb enough to let me take it for a spin and I was stupid enough to accept. I'm now shopping for a used Yamaha....and I used to be such a Kawasaki fan. Sigh. Made enough jumps to make me very happy but the case is owed for my first wicked carve on landing. Scared the bejesus out of a friend I made a human target out of, but got lucky that he was just insane enough not to move, and let me carve my Stiletto completely around him. Missed jumping on Saturday due to an evil migraine. Ugh. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

  11. I had the same problem with my strap. I just adjusted it to where I wanted it and then sewed it so it wouldn't slip. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  12. I just use a single knot with a double overhand. It won't slip and it won't squeeze through the washer. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  13. Check again. Section 2-1 BSR's K. Parachute Equipment 2d. A functional automatic activation device that meets the manufacturer's recommended service schedule. [FB] That requirement can only be waivered by a meeting of the full board. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

  16. So...ummm...if necrophilia is the uncontrollable urge to crack open a cold one, what's the proper Latin term for skydiving with a corpse? Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  17. Until you have your A-license, you are still considered a student and should have a rig equipped with an AAD. Look it up, it's in the SIM. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  18. It's probably because you're with an HMO. Me, I'm still waiting for my flying car, dammit! Now, back to the original question.... Myself, I started without knowing the risks. There was a group of us from my office who went for our first jumps and a friend and I liked it enough to keep going, get licensed, etc... Once I learned the risks I did have to make the decision as to whether it was worth it to me to keep with it. But for me the comaraderie, fun, and joy the sport give me are more than worth those risks.
  19. Are you using SAS or TAS? The time actually sounds about right compared to the sitfly dives I've done from 13K. Also, don't forget about the forward throw on exit. You don't immediately start doing terminal, it takes about 7-10 seconds to get off of the "hill". Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  20. Actually, when I demo'd the Crossfire2 at Rantoul I asked Simon about that. He told me that psycho-packing it would be fine. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

  23. How you doin'? Anne, Anne....Anne....you don't have to butter me up. You had me at hello. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  24. Wow...how did I miss that one?! So..umm...how you doin', and how is MD in the winter? If it's too cold, I can help warm it up. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  25. Well of course you've never heard it if he's using his keyboard! Oh, wait...that was sarcasm in your post. My bad.
