    Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is not synonymous with "being fatigued/very tired for months." Chroic Fatigue Syndrome is a diagnosis of exclusion after 1) no other cause of fatigue can be found and 2) the fatigue has lasted for at least 1 year. There are some test results/clinical findings that are consistent with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, but none is diagnostic. Also, treatment is problematic, as it is thought that CFS has a viral cause. No treatment has been found to be uniformly effective, though a couple of treatments are effective for some people. SO....ltdiver, please don't assume that you have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. There are other, more likely explanations. If a physician doesn't decide to treat you for CFS right away, he/she is probably doing the right thing. linz -- A conservative is just a liberal who's been mugged.     Playing first base--Little League. Being the first girl to play little league baseball in my town. Scoring 33 points against Lake Village in my Sophomore year of HS basketball. Pulling the snake out with the eggs -- henhouse. Being the only kid at the Country Club who could do a gainer off the side of the pool....lol Kickin' Robin's butt on the city tennis courts in front of half the town.... 3rd grade, first year in my hometown, first day of school. I wanted to play football with the boys. They wouldn't let me play. I told on them, and Ms. Nutt made them let me play. I was chosen last.     Yeah....I saw the Allmans in the early 90's. Enjoyed the hell out of the show, but even then they were a little past their time.... Know what I mean?     Kind of a heavy thought, but it's life sometimes. Whatever demons he had were his, not mine, and now they're gone. It makes me sad, but it doesn't screw with my head in unnecessary ways. I do wish he had just jumped if he felt the need, though, and not taken Robin with him.... Didn't mean to hijack the thread. Just was the thought that came to my mind....     I haven't lost any friends to skydiving. This past year, though, I had a friend in medical school who stabbed his wife to death and then jumped from the 10th floor of a building on campus. That's horrific. Everyone hates him, justifiably, for killing his wife (who was the Dept. of Neurosurgery chief resident), but he was still a friend to many of us despite this horrible thing he did. I learned about it while I was at Rantoul last year. He had been an olympic athlete, but had failed to make it back to the Olympic games last year. He "snapped" or whatever shortly after the trials. At graduation this weekend, nobody mentioned his name--Rob Howard. He was at the top of my class and probably would have matched into a neurosurgery residency himself. I hope he found peace too. My heart breaks every time I think of him and his beautiful, beautiful wife Robin.... Peace~ linz -- A conservative is just a liberal who's been mugged.
