You're right on the money about sociopaths. I have no doubt that Tookie Williams is no better person than he was the day he killed the people whose deaths he was sentenced to die for. He has put his best foot forward, but he's someone who would do whatever he needed to do to achieve his desired result. Because he doesn't feel does not mean he can't think....and manipulate. I still don't necessarily want people like him dead. Instead I'm pretty much indifferent to what happens to him. If it in some way helps the people who loved the people he killed to see him die, then his death is warranted, imho. I don't see that there's really anything wrong with their needs (however psychologically "unhealth" they are) being considered in such a person's punishment. I do wish we wouldn't sentence people to death, though, (or to prison for that matter) without better proof of their guilt. The fact that we're able to use DNA evidence helps. Hey Michelle. I missed your post earlier, and that's why I didn't respond to you. Sure people with Bipolar can have hypomanic episodes. It's not uncommon at all. But a person in such an episode still has control over his/her behavior though he may be impaired--the quiet but frantic attack. I shouldn't have said that it didn't sound like a person with bipolar....because anyone could be a person with bipolar. BUT for a person to be in a manic state that was sufficient to render him incapable of controlling his behavior, then I would expect him to appear more than agitated. I can't answer the second part of your question, but our Linz is in her first year of residency. That is Dr. Linz to you! Yeah....but that was after all those years of being a social worker...which was after those years of being a patient care tech.... The only time I can think of Bipolar illness being the reason for this person's behavior is if he was in an active manic phase...and a bit psycotic. What was his wife thinking having him travel on an airplane if he was acutely ill? And if that was the case, then she's the ass. It would be nice if these marshalls would've subdued him in some other way. I really think that had they tried they probably could've stopped him without killing him. But I wasn't there. I'd rather him be shot and killed than blow up a plane. If he threatened the flight so immediately that there simply was no other way to end his threat than to kill him, then I'm glad they killed him.
