I was informed after HS that not only was I popular, but that I was the coolest person they knew. That, I believe, startled me. I was an overachiever, but I played flute in band and was in swimming. I had the best of both worlds I suppose. I was a social butterfly and involved in everything. My close friends were average joes and they were the people I felt most comfortable with, but I had a billion aquaintances that ranged on the spectrum from dirty hippie, to prom queen. To tell you the truth, now, I never considered myself popular or an outcast, because cliques are stupid, that I hung out or talked to someone cause I wanted to. In terms of canopies, I will leave that to the pros, but I had to rent gear for all of my jumps so far and though it is expensive, it is better than buying something that you may not feel comfortable with. I also learned how to pack on a 235 (though I was jumping a 190), so learning how to pack only requires a rig...And I know how you feel about packing for others. Sounds like my year...Day 1 of this year: Recovering from surgery that was required to fix my broken and dislocated tib/fib...Day 2: was a little better...stayed doped up on Vicodin and Valium. Day 3: Don't remember b/c I was still doped up on V+V. There are some good things that happened though...attented my first WFFC (only as a volunteer) then started jumping again and thoughthe year started pretty shitty, it is ending pretty well...I will be recieving my first set of gear in a matter of days...!!! It is pure sensationalism......The media believes that people want to see death and destruction, mayhem.
