  2. Hey man, I can see what you are trying to say, but definitely need to check the wording.(like you stated and apologized for...so please, everyone relax!!!!) Most TMs that I have met are multifaceted, meaning they are knowledgeable in other areas besides tandems, hell, my FF coach is a tandem master. I can understand not wanting to be told how to do something by someone who you don't think is qualified giving you advice in an area that you feel more knowledgeable in.(If that made any sense?!?) So far, I haven't experienced it in skydiving...but I am sure I will...and I am sure others have as well...Personally, I take it all in and absorb as much as possible...and BTW...I tend to just ignore the shit that people tell me whose opinions I don't value...... ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Fly the friendly skies...^_^...})ii({...^_~...
  3. Well, what do you think Michigan, Ohio State, Iowa, Purdue, Wisconsin, Michigan State and at least 2 other teams have been doing for the last decade?
  4. YESS!!! That is very true....that low, with a bad flare and a PROPER PLF...then you should be ok...I flared low and unfortunately I didn't perform a proper PLF and had the honor of visiting the interior of the Lake Wales Medical Center facilities...Lesson learned...Cheers...
  5. Man, this is good stuff... I am definitely passing this on...LOLOLOLOL...ROFLAO!!!! Hmmmm...a double blind trial...so there will be a scientist that doesn't know that he is not strapping a parachute to someone who doesn't know that he isn't strapping a parachute to his back...hmmmm...::ponders::... ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Fly the friendly skies...^_^...})ii({...^_~...
  6. Along with USC If the Sooners won, I could see your USC argument - but LSU won!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And we deserved it!!!! Geaux Tigers! YEAH!!!! RIGHT ON!!!!! ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Fly the friendly skies...^_^...})ii({...^_~...

  8. YESSS!!! In another thread on this subject, I replied with something similar. And when you drive a car, or ride in a car, you wear a seatbelt, sort of like wearing, say a helmet or other piece of equipment to help protect yourself, though there are are no guarantees in life (alright, death and taxes...), but perceptions of safety change with each person and my perception personally changed following experiences in this sport, but then again, the question following incidents and deaths is why we continue to do it...for me, it is how it makes me feel when I am out the door and experiencing ultimate freedom...Cheers...

    WOT no helmet

What's the point of having a dytter if you aren't going to wear a helmet? How many FF jumps do you have total? ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Fly the friendly skies...^_^...})ii({...^_~...

    WOT no helmet

Ummmmm....wear a helmet.... My recommendation, you should always wear a helmet. It could save your life... ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Fly the friendly skies...^_^...})ii({...^_~...
  11. The JM is responsible for "training" you to save your life, but ONLY YOU(!!!!) are responsible for saving your life on every skydive. Now if you mean that they must deploy for you if you are unable or show no sign at deploment altitude, then yes, I have seen JMs who deployed students... ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Fly the friendly skies...^_^...})ii({...^_~...
  12. heh... nah, that was just a disclaimer required by the government. I just think this whole thread (and the comments on the other one too) were primarily a disagreement over the discussion and usage of the word "safe." True, this "disagreement"/heated discussion is based on symantics...or lack there of...As I stated before, in my previous post, I can understand her point of view, but I feel that to describe the act of exiting a plane while flying through the sky at 13,500ft. is as described by many as "inherently dangerous" and we as humans must except the fact that no one is Superman and numbers can be decieving...continue talking to experienced skydivers, listen to the stories, read the incident reports, and watch the everyday activities at a DZ...this may change your point of view...We can minimize the risk, take our calculated risk, however you want to describe it, but I continue skydiving despite the risk because I love the feeling I get when I am out the door...Everyone has their reasons why they continue to skydive despite the riskof injury or death...but I have been told...and dread the day, that someone I know and care about will be lost...those are sobering words...As I stated before: Be safe, be aware, and triple check everything...Cheers... ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Fly the friendly skies...^_^...})ii({...^_~...
  13. First off, I want to say that I read the previous thread...so I know where this stemmed from...however, skydiving isn't safe, but with proper training, we as skydivers take a "calculated risk" everytime we exit the door. As far as I am concerned, even one death per year or per so-many jumps, or whatever is too many, and just because the number of accidents (I'm referring to injuries) is low(considering that USPA is still trying to encourage DZs to send in accident reports), YOU ARE JUMPING OUT OF A PLANE THAT IS GOING OVER 100 MPH!!! When I first began to jump, I was under the false impression that skydiving was safe and can understand where you are coming from, but whenever I started visiting other DZs and speaking with people who have 10 or 20 years experience and thousands of jumps, the number of things that can go wrong are limitless. I believe that I am a safe skydiver, but you can only increase your knowledge by experience AND most important, listening and learning from experienced skydivers!...Just please be safe...I have been lucky so far...(knocks on wood) I have had one injury that has put me in the hospital, but don't know of anyone that I have known personally who has died skydiving...Be safe, be aware, and triple check everything...
  14. Who is the new DZO(s)? ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Fly the friendly skies...^_^...})ii({...^_~...
  15. Hell, I made it through several medal detectors in airports with a pound of metal in my ankle, including; Houston and Atlanta...I even presented my little card to the guy with the wand and tried to explain to someone that I was supposed to set it off...LoL......He waved me through...and me and metal in my ankle boarded the plane.... ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Fly the friendly skies...^_^...})ii({...^_~...
  16. The best way to get drug information is to consult the PDR...(Physicians Desk Reference)...As stated, this can be a serious condition and treated as such...If she throws a clot, yes, it could be lethal. Allow the medication to work, sometimes that is the first and best choice of action, however, if the condition worsens or she throws a clot, surgery may be required...I know it sounds like a waiting game...but that is pretty much all you can do...I hope she gets better soon
  17. I know that sometimes you think you aren't in a bad body position during deployment, but somtimes you are twisting your body or hold your head in an odd position...My advice: Have someone video your deployment and critique it...video always helps...Also, I had a riser cover come undone during freefall and smacked me in the cheek and I had a welt for weeks...so I have been there... ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Fly the friendly skies...^_^...})ii({...^_~...
  18. ROFLAO!!! I heard about that on the news...what a moron...!!!!!!! Got what he deserved... ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Fly the friendly skies...^_^...})ii({...^_~...

  20. LoL...that looks like half my notebooks from class...I have tons of drawings/sketches of stuff... ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Fly the friendly skies...^_^...})ii({...^_~...
  21. Chant this to yourself before every AFF jump(when thinking about a PLF): Feet and knees together, feet and knees together...this will ultimately prevent you from breaking an ankle...like moi... ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Fly the friendly skies...^_^...})ii({...^_~...
  22. I was renting gear and getting coach jumps for my license, so that was expensive. I still tried to jump as much as possible considering the weather went to sh*t towards the end of the season. But yeah, I tried to jump as much as possible, though I am draining my savings dry... ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Fly the friendly skies...^_^...})ii({...^_~...
  23. Now that is the funniest thing I have heard in a long time!!! Skydiver/Rich...That strikes me as an oxymoron... ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Fly the friendly skies...^_^...})ii({...^_~...
