I just wanted to make a comment about the number of posts lately that I have been reading that have been downright mean/rude. Just fifteen minutes ago, I posted a question and recieved a rather inconsiderate response and the whole thread went sour, so I decided to delete it and forget about it. There. But I have noticed a massive amount of people making comments that are mean and not in the least considered funny or lighthearted. Whatever happened to discussing, debating, not arguing or bitching. Giving opinions and leaving it at that. It is called conditioning...using treats for good behavior and "bad dog" or putting him in a small room by himself for a while, away from toys and family. My mom's toy poodle is highly territorial and literally does not listen to anyone in the house, except to me and my bro. My brother let's him get away with murder, I on the other hand, let him know when he is being a "bad dog" and tell him...It takes work, but you must train house pets to obey and most behaviors can be controlled or, in the case of my mom's poodle, he gets put in a bedroom when guests are in the house. From my experience, owners who do not discipline have unruly animals who bite and chew on anything. It is the owner's responsibility to train it and monitor the behavior. Get rid of the dog, no, I believe the owner needs to be trained about how to train the dog. This is a nice idea and all, but the truth of the matter is that in any case after elementary school, teachers are specialized. Just as you didn't major in everything, you aren't really qualified to teach your kid everything. Unless you know everything, in which case, more power to you. But until parents know everything or everyone can afford to go to private schools, the government's gonna have to do just a little educating for us. True, teachers are trained in certain "areas," however, my mother was a junior high school teacher before she had children and she was trained to teach anything from history to economics. As far as I am concerned, after hearing about some of my mother's experiences, the education system has had some major cracks in it for a VERY long time. You want to hear some frightening stories about students harassing their teachers, and students that my mom tried to teach, but could only show up maybe once or twice a week because they had to take care of sick family members. I could go on forever myself. I consider myself lucky. My mother encouraged me to read, to write down ideas, and to learn anything and everything. Part of the the problem today IS the lack of parental participation, the other half is education being LEFT to the government instead of taking a proactive stance and changing the current system. I was also lucky to grow up near a top ten university whose professors kids went to my high school. We are almost always rated as one of the top 3 schools in the state. We had the resources growing up, however, not a lot of schools do...which is a damn shame...the real question is...what do we as voting citizens doing to make the changes... P.S. I have to admit, I was told to get the booties on my first jump suit (along with swoop cords...but decided not to considering I didn't know what they were for at the time...) Take some rubber bands ...usually lying around all over the place... and put it around the booties and as someone else said previously, tuck them into the legs of your jumpsuit. That was how I finished AFF, and I did several solos with my bootiesto get used to them, and on a couple of tracking dives (on tracking dives in particular, you will enjoy them...
