    I went to my high school, college, and grad school graduations. I'd finally had it with graduations, crowds, and long speeches that really didn't mean anything, so I skipped the law school graduation and went to vegas. The family wants to throw a party, so I've told them they can do that the day I actually get sworn in. Seemed a fair compromise.

    Ask her to pick a book she wants to read, and help her with it. Have her read it to you, and suggest changes in pronunciation and explain cultural references and vocabulary as you go.

    Not a parent, but I've done a LOT of babysitting. 1. fall over laughing. 2. explain to kid why we don't write on babies 3. toss both kids in bath. scrub.

    I think the problem is that they're punishing the kid for the actions of someone else. In some cases, it wasn't even the guests of the kid that were cheering. One of the kids even said that people were cheering because they didn't want another kid to get their diploma. I think a far more appropriate punishment would be: cheer and get escorted from the graduation, and if you're graduating, you don't get your diploma. Let the poor kid on the stage who isn't doing anything wrong receive theirs.

    A poem comes to mind.     Since genus and species are latin based words, I looked up the latin. The latin text states: 1:24 "et bestias terræ secundum species suas" which translates to: "beasts of the earth, according to their species." What's really interesting is that earlier, the text states: "et omne volatile secundum genus suum." which translates to: all the flying creatures, according to their genus (kind) The latin text differentiates specifically between genus and species, while the English translation does not. So, were birds created according to their kind or genus, and land mammals according to their species? or is the latin text just wrong?

    Well, as hermeneutics and scriptural interpretation go, I'm trying to figure out where exactly in the Bible you're getting this theory of "variations" of "kinds" of animals. Is it actually there in scripture, or is it something that people are theorizing to explain the million plus species of animals that we have today in light of the ark story?

    Okay... now you've got me confused. Doesn't Genesis 2:19-20 say "God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof." Genesis says that God created EVERY beast and EVERY fowl, and then brought them to Adam. Wouldn't that mean that every beast and fowl was at existence at the time of Adam, and therefore would need to be on the ark at the time of Noah?

    By evolved, I mean that, for example, the different species of cat, such as lions, lynx, bobcat, housecat, and cheetah have their origin in a pre-existing common ancestor and gradually changed over time into the animals we know today.

    Smoking outdoors pretty much only affects non-smokers when they have to walk through a cloud of smoke to get in and out of a building, or when people are smoking in an outdoor line. Either way, the smoke can't really be avoided.
