  1. This doesn't seem like SC material... I've had vonage for about 9 months. 0% problems, great service, no gear or service issues. Owned by Remi #?

  5. There are countless police officers, firefighters, soldiers, and civilians who will or would rise to this level of heroism when the circumstances are there. Not many are givien the opportunity, thank heavens. What they do deserves credit and honor, but it doesn't mean that they are necessarily more worthy of attention than someone who devotes an entire life to dedicated, hard work. Being the hero of the moment requires both courage and circumstance. Being a hero for life counts too. Owned by Remi #?

  7. A few I remember from the Navy: Sending someone to get a can of ohms or a board stretcher... Sending someone down to engineering to get a BT punch... New junior officer standing the midships rudder watch... We had people looking for GU 11's too. And B 1 RDs Owned by Remi #?

  11. I had a wake-up call about PLFs last weekend that made me realize how much I can learn from the people I jump with and how much I appreciate their experience... I was with a group that was first out on the first load and we ended up a little too far out on our spot. When I realized I wasn't going to make it back I glanced around to see where the other people in my group were landing. 2 of the other 3 had picked a grassy field nearby so I decided to setup to join them. As I landed near the most experienced jumper in the group I could hear him yelling to me to put my feet and knees together and PLF. I honestly thought he was joking. I had picked a clear spot upwind and everything was good as far as I could tell. I landed on my toes and walked over to him so that we could walk back to the DZ together and he chided me for not PLFing. When I told him that I thought he was joking around he pointed out that we had landed in tall grass without any idea what the surface underneath was like and that a PLF might have saved me from a nasty accident if the ground hadn't been level. I got a little dry in the mouth thinking that over. Anyway... I learned that PLFs are not always a skill you need when you flare high or land badly. Owned by Remi #?
  12. Better yet, I've participated in several, which is what prompted me to point out that the idea of making flags "fireproof" isn't a good idea. Owned by Remi #?
  13. Thanks for stepping in... Yes, You're right. I've always wondered why people debate whether burning a flag should be against the law when in some cases its recommended. Owned by Remi #?
  14. How would you later follow the recommended method for retiring them when they were worn? Section 8k of the Flag Code states, "The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning." 15. I don't visualize "backwards". It seems (to me, but my spacial skills are bad) more like it would still be facing the correct direction, but inverted top to bottom. Owned by Remi #?
  16. If nothing was disconnected during or after the pack job, wouldn't the only way to have the risers cross through each other mean that the canopy was upside-down? Owned by Remi #?
  17. Maybe someone installed another wireless network nearby that's interferring. Can you channel surf to see if another channel gives you a better signal? Owned by Remi #?
  18. That made me laugh. Same thing happened to me at about jump 15 or so. I didn't start standing up consistently until I took Scott Miller's course at around 75 jumps. My problem was that I was really reluctant to look out at the horizon instead of staring at the ground. I was afraid I'd pound myself into the deck without warning. When I took the course and mustered up the nerve to do as I was instructed, I found that landing got much easier. Owned by Remi #?

  20. I have one. It was fairly new when I got it and I've put about 100 jumps on it since. When I started out, 1 or 2 rolls of the nose were enough to give it a nice, soft opening. I have to fight it to get it to open anymore. I stopped rolling the nose a long time ago. The more I jump it, the slower it opens. I think one of my problems is that I'm loading it very lightly. I've lost over 30 pounds since I started jumping it. I'd also be happy to measure my slider the next time I jump and send you the size for comparison. Owned by Remi #?
