  1. can I ask what 10 Gs would compare to... like a winding rollercoaster would be ____ G forces What would 10 compare to? Thanks Jennifer Arianna Frances
  2. I'm not exactly sure.... I'm being told by the manufacturer of my pacemaker that their concern with skydiving is that the g-forces could move the device. On my tandem I didn't feel any kind of pulling like on an amusement park ride. Just wondering I guess - I have a feeling I'll be getting horribly bad news in the next few days. Jennifer who feels like she's going to start crying now... Arianna Frances
  3. what is the g-force argument with skydiving? Its obviously not the same as amusement park rides... I'm trying to get around a problem and would like to get peoples opinions. Thanks Jennifer Arianna Frances

  8. Hi! I'm in the same boat - did my first tandem on the 13th and will be signing up for AFF the first Saturday in October. Like you I'm also hooked, losing sleep and precious productive work time Best of luck and welcome to the forums! Jennifer Arianna Frances
  9. I thought the same thing when I upgraded my computer - but you don't have much choice in an 'out of box' perfectly working set up. I swear my husband spends more time configuring the danm thing than using it - thusly causing my internet connection sharing to go down constantly. My recommendation for a good 'out of box', don't-have-to-do-anything-but-plug-it-in is a gateway or dell - both perfectly good machines. No recommendations on model number or any of that (never even looked at their machines actually), but take a look at what they offer. I've heard gateway has really good customer service. Good luck! 10. Hi all, Was hoping to get some advice from you. I haven't been involved with skydiving long at all, and am not familiar with the 'lingo' or atmosphere surrounding it, so I could use some direction. One of the people I work with, and the gentleman who got me to try skydiving, is retiring next week. I'm not really good with words and want to put something meaningful (hopefully skydiving related) in the card that we're signing. I feel I owe him alot becuase skydiving has literally changed my life and don't want something as trite as "Best of luck" or "enjoy retirment".... So any wordsmiths out there - what can I write? Thanks!
  11. Great to hear that all that practice paid off! Glad to hear you were ok!
  12. Agreed! If I wasn't a VB programmer I'd have bought a mac ages ago... My husband is a web developer and luckily has a mac at work, and won't look back. He uses Linux at home though Jennifer Arianna Frances

  15. ooh - disappointed to not see a corvette on the list. The 1980 model - curves and all. sexy car! Jennifer Arianna Frances
  16. haha - no clue, very odd! maybe someone was sitting at your computer who had a runny nose or something... and that was 'extra'? maybe... hehe - good luck finding out what happened! Jennifer Arianna Frances
  17. Going to a volunteer meeting for a non-profit you work with - only having to carpool with someone who bad mouths the organization the entire 90 minutes home.... gosh, if I wasn't driving I would've smacked her! ugh! Jennifer Arianna Frances
  18. Great advice! I think I'll be sitting down with my doctor next week to talk about all of this and try to the MUGA scan I had done 3 months ago to bring with me. I had no trouble what so ever during my tandem, not even sore shoulders (now my legs were another story), but after reading some of the posts here about hard openings I got to wondering. Better safe than sorry, always. Thanks again! Jennifer Arianna Frances
  19. Hello! I'm a newbie too - did my first tandem on the 13th and will be signing up for AFF upon returning from my vacation to Arizona next week. When you finally get to jump you'll love it. It was one of those rare life changing events for me and I can't wait to go up again. Also, I haven't gotten any smart ass responses here (yet). So don't worry about it - everyone seems really nice! Welcome! Jennifer Arianna Frances
  20. Great advice! Thanks, I'll be doing that ASAP! Thanks! Jennifer Arianna Frances
  21. Great advice!! Thanks alot! I'll definitely be looking into this more as I move through the training. Believe it or not - I've hardly used it in the 3 years I've had them (just got a new one 3 months ago), just there for 'emergencies'. Thanks again! Jennifer Jennifer Arianna Frances
  22. Thanks, I plan on it, but also wanted to find out if the extra padding was possible so I can present that as an option when I speak to them on Monday. Thanks again! Jennifer Arianna Frances
  23. Hello everyone, I have a harness/safety question for those experienced ones (obviously not myself included). I have an ICD/pacemaker implanted in my left shoulder - more towards center, 1/2 inch under my collar bone. I've gotten the ok to jump from my doctor, but didn't call my pacers device manufacturer and won't be able to get a hold of them until Monday. I know it should be okay for me to jump as I've done rock climbing with similar harnass' and they said that was ok. The only thing to be worried about is pressure against the device (which would take alot, as its pretty much impossible to see the device (except for the huge scar of course) and takes some pressing to really feel it anyway). I would like to get some extra padding under my left shoulder strap (when I eventually get my own equipment) and wanted to know if thats possible. I wouldn't want something like a hard opening to cause lots of pressure to affect the device, and don't want my pacer/ICD to keep me from doing something I'm loving. So... is it possible to get extra padding or is that going to throw stuff off? Thanks for any help! Jennifer Arianna Frances
