  2. I defined band geek. I was president of my highschool band and band librarian. Senior year I was also the drum major. I played in Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, and Jazz Band. Got the great pleasure of playing at the Lincoln Center - awesome experience. Played Bb clarinet, Eb clarinet, Bb Bass Clarinet, Eb Alto Saxophone, Eb Baritone Saxophone, and piano. I went to All States for bass clarinet and played with the youth symphony at New England conservatory. Eventually attended University of North Texas majoring in clarinet, minor in piano. Dropped out after my folks screwed me over.... Can't sell my clarinet though - its too much a part of me... I miss it so much Jennifer Arianna Frances

  4. Ok, now this has brought something new to the argument. Is how hard the 'jerk' a measure of total Gs or the difference between current rate of speed (MPH) and 0 mph - as you have to reach that point in order to change direction. Confused.... Jennifer Arianna Frances
  5. ok, with that being said.... I understand that hard openings are just something that can happen, as someone had mentioned - the chaos theory. But isn't it true that many of the newer canopies - when packed correctly have a 'smoother' opening than older models, thereby reducings the possibility of a higher G-Force impact? I spoke with a parachute rigger examiner today and this was the argument that he made. Any thoughts? Jennifer Arianna Frances

  9. I'm going to love this sport! Know why? Because I've run into so many wonderful people who are willing to help me in my search for information regarding skydiving with a pacemaker. It started with my G-Force question last night and has spread into this morning. So far I've been in touch w/ Jim Crouch at USPA who directed me to Gary Peek. I spoke with both of them this morning and am overwhelmed not only at their willingness to help, but also the speed in which I'm getting the infromation. I'll share this information with all of you as soon as I get it. Gary will be putting me in touch with a doctor in Boston who also jumps, as he may be able to direct me to the best drop zone to help. I can just tell this isn't something I'll be letting go of anytime soon! Thanks so much everyone - you've saved my sanity! Jennifer Arianna Frances
  10. Not much will help poor kitty now, but the next time you hear her/him start coughing put a little bit of vaseline on his/her paw. Licking it off with line the throat with a smooth substance that will get the hair to go down and not come up. As far as the table, don't use anything with a bleaching property as it will discolor the fabric, and don't use a brush as it will rip the fabric. Good luck! Jennifer Arianna Frances
  11. ahhh yes... I know this feeling well. I've adopted two rescue kitties - siamese from www.siameserescue.org and couldn't imagine life without them. Rescue kitties have had it rough, so when they find a 'happy place' they are sure to make the best of it. Congrats on your new fur baby!! Enjoy!

  17. ah yes... I'm super partial to Italian and now Australian reds. Chianti is a personal favorite, and like someone send you would need to get the ones with the rooster on the label as that would mean 'chianti country' - and vintage year 1997, by far the best year. Its a 'spicy' wine, really good with beef dishes. Shiraz is a relative new red - from Australia, and VERY good! There's a line of Australian wines that are fairly inexpensive and very good - Yellow Tail. They carry a few different reds and they are all very good in my opinion. Also a spicy wine, but no where near as 'strong' as the chianti. I prefer this with Chicken and Beef. Merlot you have to be careful with - lots of different quality differences so I try to steer clear. I've had good luck with only a few CA vineyards. Merlot is a good 'cheese' wine for the most part. And french wine - have yet to find a french red that I like; as a matter of fact they make me want to spit. LOL Good luck - but really, try the Yellow Tail - very good! Jennifer Arianna Frances

  23. I'll be presenting information to my doctor when I return from vacation next week. I want him to be very informed and not make a decision based on bias - which is a normal thing for anyone, not just doctors. The two things he'll be worried about are device, lead dislogment and pressure on the device from straps. Where can I find information that would explain how skydiving would affect these things - I'll search far and wide for the information. I don't want anything to keep me from this - let alone something I didn't ask for in the first place... thanks for everyones help. Jennifer Arianna Frances
