  1. I used to have the dream where I was falling and then would wake up with a jolt. Now when I have the falling dream I just enjoy it. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  2. The reason I ask is because i've seen people at the DZ who were totally hung over from partying the night before asking for asprin and then going up on skydives. Myself, I like a glass of wine or two after getting home from 8 hours at work and 2-3 hours at the gym. But if I'm going to be jumping the next day I limit myself to one glass of wine. When I was really new to the sport I wouldn't drink at all the day before I jumped. So I've never jumped hungover - figure I need all my senses and a clear head. But I guess there are people who jump after overindulging the night before. Just wondering how common this is. Since I went from no drinking to one glass of wine maybe I'll eventually learn to party and jump. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  3. Okay, I'm only gonna post to this cuz I work out a lot (2 - 3 hrs. a day), but my hubby could care less about working out. And it really sometimes pisses me off that I am in shape and he isn't and that he doesn't care. Okay, got my rant in. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  4. Lots of water during the day....then wine at night. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  5. LOL. Yeah, I used to be able to drink a lot when I was younger, but can't do the same now that I'm older. Don't know if that is a factor for you, but I guess just be glad that you can get drunk cheap. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  6. 700:0:0 700 miles driven from Los Angeles to San Francisco and back. Great weekend, but no jumps Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  7. That is with the discount for having our house ins. with them also. Plus we get good driver discount on 3 people and good student discount on one of the kids. If I could get the other kid to get her grades up and slow down that would probably help a lot. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  8. LOL. No offense, but I'd rather not help you out by paying more for ins. ***I highly suggest shopping around ([url] but check out your state's department of insurance website. Most have consumer guides with a listing of every single insurance company in your state and what their premiums for certain groups are. QuoteYeah, I'm lazy too, but I just may get off my lazy butt and check that out. Thanks. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  9. I get pissed off every year when we renew our auto insurance. Why is it so darn expensive?? We don't shop around cuz we've been with Auto Club forever and their service is great. I'm just wondering if it's just me or if other people think auto ins. rates are outrageous. Ours is up to $5500 a year, but that is for five cars (actually 4 cars and an RV). We still have the kids on our policy cuz they're both college students and can't afford to get insurance on their own. I know part of the reason ins. is so high is because of the kids, and maybe living in Cali where there are lots of crazy drivers has something to do with it. And the thing that really pisses me off is when you get in an accident and the other guy who was at fault has NO insurance!! Maybe that's another reason why those of us who have ins. have to pay so much! Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller

    CARS!

My hubby works for an auto sales/leasing company. Kind of like an auto brockerage firm. He used to be a VP, but they downsized and put him into sales. He's not good at sales cuz he's too damned honest. If they can get a car somewhere else at a lower price he'll tell them so. And if the customer is a little old lady without much money he won't put much profit in the deal. So I'm trying to help him out. If anyone is looking for a car, new or used please PM me before you buy. My husband may be able to get you a good deal and if he can't he'll tell you. I really want him to sell more cars and make more money so that I can justify buying a new rig! Please help me! Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  12. I'm finally getting comfortable with the idea of fun, crazy exits. A guy I jump with who is a long time skydiver with 1000's of jumps said he'll teach me some fun exits. The one I'm looking forward to is hanging from the bar under the door of the SV (I guess there is a bar there, I've never noticed). I guess you just hang on as long as you can. From what I've heard most people can't hang on very long. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  13. LOL. My daughter was a participant at a hypnosis show and he gave her the suggestion that the guy next to her was some star that most women find sexy, but my daughter didn't, so instead of cuddling up to the guy she was trying to avoid him. Kind of backfired, but still pretty funny. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  14. Welcome! Yeah, I thought the same thing, that it would be a one time thing. LOL. Don't know how anyone can just do one tandem and not go on. You will feel more comfortable the more jumps you do. I knew I was feeling comfortable when I went from "oh, shit, it's my turn to jump" to "allright, it's my turn to jump". Good luck! 15. A protein bar at the gym in between cardio and weights. That's my dinner most weekday nights, but I make up for it on weekends. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  16. I have the same problem as you. Tall and slender (5'6", 120 lb.). I started wearing weights while still in AFF. I usually wear 13 lbs. of lead (belt). Although I am told my body position/arch is good, I still need to wear weights. The way someone explained it to me is if you are tall and thin you have a lot of surface area, even in a good arch, without the weight behind it, so to compensate it is necessary to wear lead. When I am jumping with someone for the first time they look at me and say "I hope you're wearing lead". It's pretty easy to get used to when you wear it all the time. 17. No, this is a guy named Joshua Seth. Checked his website and it's pretty impressive. He's also a psychic. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  18. Awwww, what a cutie!!! She/he is adorable! I want one!
  19. Tomorrow I'm going to a comedy/hypnotist show. I've been to several before and laughed my ass off. This one should be even funnier because our friend booked the guy for a private show so we'll know most of the people there. I've been under hypnosis, but under different circumstances. I used hypnosis for the birth of my first child. We were doing natural childbirth and since I am a total wus when it comes to pain, I wanted a back up plan. It worked for the childbirth thing, but don't know that I would have barked like a dog or gotten up and sang a song while under hypnosis, though that would have been pretty funny during labor Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  20. Don't think I'd say I LOVE my job, but I do like it a lot. I work as a project assistant for a general contractor. I'm at a jobsite office so it's pretty casual, come to work in jeans, t-shirt and tennies. It's only a mile from my house so no traffic to fight. I work from 7 - 3:30, so am at the gym by 4. Great benefits, medical, dental & vision insurance for my whole family paid for by the co. 401K with employer contributing a percentage. 4 weeks vacation. Pretty decent bonuses, Annual company pic-nic, golf tournament and x-mas party. For what I do pay is okay ($22/hr., 40 hr. work week), but since I'm married and we have two incomes I don't need to make a lot. Oh, and the company is always growing and hiring new people and they pay employees a really nice finders fee if they refer someone and they are hired. Right now they are looking for Project Managers, Asst. Project Managers and Project Engineers. If anyone is interested please PM me. I could sure use the finders fee to help pay for my new rig! 22. I go to the library a lot. Don't borrow books anymore though, because I'd always forget to bring them back on time and end up with huge fines. So now I just buy the used books. Our library has a section where you can buy books, 50 cents for paperbacks and hardcovers for a buck. Much less expensive than paying overdue book fines. 24. I've never jumped anywhere but Perris, but once I get my own gear in about 6 - 8 weeks I will venture out to other DZ's. Since my parents live in SD and I visit them every month I will probably try to jump at a San Diego DZ. I've met some people from SD who were very friendly. Hope everyone is that nice. It would be nice if in a couple months when I get ready to jump in SD I could look up people from DZ.com to jump with. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
