Awww, Frenchy I get in moods like that too sometimes. No clue why, just depressed and mad at everyone for no reason. You just have to let it pass, and in the meantime hit and kick some things. Just be selective about what you break cuz it could be something you are attached to, been there, done that.

Are you going to the Excel Camp next week? I will be there and would love to meet you. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller

I don't drink beer but I am all for kissing. Yeah, love kissing my friends at the DZ. And it is so innocent, just kissing friends cuz you are happy to see them, nothing more. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller

LOL. I was not hiding that case of wine. Pulled out a couple of bottles and was waiting to pull out the rest, but went to bed before pulling out the rest, sorry, I'm not a big party animal . Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller

I'm wondering how someone overcomes being shy. Is it something that can be overcome or are shy people destined to spend their whole life that way? I've always been very shy, and while I'm not as shy as I once was I still am uncomfortable around peple I don't know and it takes me a long time to open up to people even after I get to know them. I hate being so shy and I envy people who are comfortable interacting with other people and not afraid to express themselves. I've read all kinds of self help books about overcoming shyness, but I'm still shy. I'm comfortable jumping at my home DZ, but now that I have my own gear I'd like to be able to jump at other DZ's when I'm out of town, but the thought of going to a new DZ where I don't know anyone terrifies me. Can I overcome my shyness and be comfortable around new people, and make going to a new DZ a positive experinece? I'd welcome any suggestions and would love to hear experiences of others who were shy and overcame it and how you did it. Thanks! Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller

At the Chicks Rock boogie there was a guy at the party wearing a kilt and women were looking under his kilt. My husband, a non skydiver and attending his first skydiving boogie was totally cracking up watching women look under the guys kilt. He thought that was the funniest thing, Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller

0:4:0 A 10 way, 6 way and 2 12 ways. My skydiving was great but landings sucked. At least now don't have to worry about getting my new gear dirty.

I tried it in the air, only held it for a couple seconds. Did some tunnel training, then tried it again in the air, exited in a sit and held it down the hill then started falling forward, backward and eventualy tumbled. The tunnel coaching helped a lot but I still need a lot of practice. I think it will take me many jumps before I get it right. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller

I think it is very difficult to "teach yourself to sitfly". I would recommend getting a coach to learn the basics and then practice what you've learned from the coach. I learned to sitfly in the tunnel and then practiced in the air. I tried it in the air before the tunnel training and totally sucked, tried it in the air after the tunnel training and was able to hold it longer, but still need a lot of practice. The article in the November Parachutist is great. If you don't have a tunnel or coaches available you can get really good tips from that article. Good luck!! I bought a full face helmet when I started to do a lot of RW. Don't find that it limits my vision. I like it much better than my open face helmet for RW. It provides protection on funneled exits, but it does limit kiss passes, just isn't the same bumping helmets as actual kissing with open face helmets.

Darcy...sounds like fun, especially if you will be there. Had so much fun with you at Chick's Rock. I will plan to be there for the Excel Camp. See you then. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller

Being a newbie I'm still a little nervous about deploying on a 12 way. I make sure I get a good track, then look around and above before I deploy. I'd just deployed and saw a spinning canopy coming towards me. I recognized the person and knew he was a very experienced skydiver, so wasn't worried he'd run into me, just thought he was playing with his canopy, but I instinctively grabbed my rear risers and turned away. As it was, he went past me with enough room to avoid a collision even if I hadn't turned away. When we got down I found out he'd had a malfunction and had no control over his canopy. I was happy that I had reacted correctly by grabbing my rear risers and turning away, but I am also thinking that was pretty dumb to assume that because he's a very experienced skydiver he won't run into me. So I learned a very important lesson. Do what YOU need to do in a situation. Don't just assume that because someone is very experienced that THEY will deal with it. I used to have fear getting out of the plane, but somewhere a long the line that fear abated, but I now have the fear of will I be in my slot on time, will I remember the skydive, etc. I think the fear of not performing well on skydives is even greater than that initial fear of getting out of the plane. Prayers for you and your mom. Lucky mom to have a son who is so caring. Hope she recovers soon and that you stay strong. You will both be in my thoughts and prayers. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller

What are some words that describe skydiving?

Since I live in a small town I had no problem, got right in. But a coworker said she had to wait in a line of 300 people voting downtown. I was surprised to see groups of people voting at one station. When I mentioned it to my coworkers they said that is illegal and I should have said something. I didn't know so didn't say anything. I was thinking maybe the person didn't understand English and the other people were helping her. According to my coworkers, if she couldn't understand English she shouldn't be voting. I tend to agree. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller

I am so sorry. Black Labs are the most awesome dogs. Ours was 14 1/2 when he died and it was so hard to put him down, we actually waited too long cuz didn't want to see him go, we literally carried him into the vet to have him put down. So sad. I feel for you and your familly. Get a puppy. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller

What a great thread!!! I would love to do the big way camp in a couple years from now when I have more experience. I did do a RW camp at Perris and Dan BC was awesome with organizing the camp and sharing his experience. Glad you had such a great time! And yeah, the tunnel is great...guess that's why they call it the crack house.... Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller

:: No jumps. Didn't even take my gear to Oregon cuz thought it would be raining all weekend. As it turned out, it cleared up and I probably could have gotten in some jumps. Next time I'll bring my gear and hope for the best.

Yes....I'd never met Chris or talked to him but I am feeling very sad just reading the posts about him. I think any time we lose a fellow skydiver it is very sad, whether you knew him personally or not. You still feel connected to the person because you shared a common bond. RIP Chris and condolences to your family and friends. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller

How bout a Monte Cristo...triple layered with turkey, ham and cheeses, deep fried and served with maple syrup. Hard to find these days. Maybe cuz it's so fattening...but so good! Not something you eat everyday, maybe a couple times a year. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller

You! Back to high school science class, now! LOL. The only reason I passed HS science class is cuz the teacher got tired of me putting tacks on his chair and popcorn in his drawers (to clarify, the ones on his desk) I'm not real science literate. I can't afford to do both. The all women RW/tunnel camp at Perris would give me some much needed training, but the Eloy boogie would probably be more fun and cost less. Am undecided what I should do. Please help!! Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller

I'll be in Oregon tomorrow. Will it still be there? Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
