It is pretty simple. The battery is good to the end of the month 2 years from installation. The maintenance is due +or-90 days from the mfg. date. If either of these is going to expire within the pack cycle, it either needs to be packed without it or taken care of. Since it is an FAR to maintain them, to jump without it in date hangs the pilot's ass and the rigger's ass out in the wind for the FAA to kick it. I don't think Charles is as forum savy as the rest of us and maybe the better for it. I was in Monroe working as a rigger when she was hurt and I assembled Charles' rig. He is quite legit and easily Joan's best friend in this life. I hate to sound caring, but your response might the tackiest thing I've read in the history of the forums. You are certainly overstating the obvious by saying she should have had insurance. Totally agree with Scotty on this! Parachute parts are replaceable, lives are not. It is worth noting that this incident claimed a well seasoned, very current skydiver of well over 4000 jumps. Yes, I agree with keep the blade flush against the grommet for ease of pull and less stress on the blade. However, I noticed on the CWO3-01 bulletin on test #1 the pin is seated all the way up to the shoulder (I meant shoulder rather than heel when I wrote the poll, my bad). Thanks for your responses, Jon
