  1. Not much of a brawl, I was exaggerating. He grabbed my scrubs, then made a fist, I grabbed his shirt and tie, then I think we stood down. But we were BOTH suspended, after being banished to different parts of the hospital, then writing statements. Then "escorted" from hospital. All firsts. North
  2. I've got a better way to go home. Have a brawl with a coworker. I tried that yesterday, got suspended and sent home! North Repetition does not transform a lie into a truth. Franklin D. Roosevelt
  3. Weren't we talking about Mel Gibson's "Passion" film? North Repetition does not transform a lie into a truth. Franklin D. Roosevelt
  4. I didn't register, but I was born on February 27th. Happy Birthday to us!
  5. Any Congressman or Senator can enter anything into the Congressional record. While some of this is probably true, lots of this just plain silly. North Repetition does not transform a lie into a truth. Franklin D. Roosevelt
  6. I kind of resent that. My ancestors wrote that very carefully, didn't scribble it, and feces stained hands? Handwashing has been a very big thing amoungst my ancestors for thousands of years, long before germs were "discovered." North Repetition does not transform a lie into a truth. Franklin D. Roosevelt
  7. Well, in five minutes it's my Birthday too. I'm a little bummed out though. I got suspended at work today for an "altercation in a patient care area." Sure, after that little twit co-worker of mine flipped out and grabbed my scrubs at my chest, then hauled off and was about to slug me, there was an altercation. I didn't slug him though, I just held him back with his tie. And then we BOTH get suspended. What was I supposed to do, turn the other cheek? North Repetition does not transform a lie into a truth. 8. Dude, how long did it take you to compile all that? I'm impressed. On the lighter side, try Song of Songs (aka Song of Solomon). or the Psalms. North
  9. By the way, an interesting thing happened at work today. People were getting their ashes, as it is Ash Wednesday, and there was much talk about the film. I work with CT scanners, and one of ours was being removed for upgrading. A bit after noon, the scanner was out, and what was left was a giant cross on the floor. The CT table was perpendicular to the gantry of the scanner, of course, and with it all removed, on the the dust and stuff that was under it was left, leaving the image of a giant cross. Considering what was going on today it was pretty amazing to see. North
  10. Just came home after seeing the film. It blew everyone in the Theater away. It is worth seeing, whether Christian or not. I particularly appreciated that it was not in English, it was in Latin and Aramaic, and I did hear some Hebrew. I always find it hard to believe when for example, in a WWII movie the Germans speak in English with a German accent. Nobody spoke English at the time of Christ. Maybe its not important, maybe it is, but the Roman soldiers were portrayed mostly as seriously sadistic, clearly in charge, yet Pilate was very sympathetic to Jesus and afraid of the Jewish mob that wanted Jesus crucified. Maybe its because I'm a Jew, but it appears inconsistent. I know that I may well regret this post. Blue Skies North Repetition does not transform a lie into a truth. Franklin D. Roosevelt
  11. Absolutely. It's in my training/education bookmark folder. If nothing else, I'm a good book student. I'll have thal all virtually memorized before I'm on my AA flight to Phoenix. North
  12. Thanks Skymama and Skyyhi. It seems that the intense desire is greater than the fear.
  13. Wish me luck and send me some good vibes. I'm starting AFF again. I did my AFF1 (after 4 tandems, first two just for fun) at the end of September, last year. I really messed up my landing and fractured my sternum and a few vertebrae. I walked away anyway. I live in NY where it will be cold/snowy/rainy/windy for some time. I decided to go to Desert Skydiving Center in Buckeye AZ. I just made my plane, hotel and car reservations. Of course, I called DSC also. I'll be there from March 22 for a couple of weeks, hopefully enough time to finish AFF and get 25 for an A. I hope they know how to calm me down a little bit before my first landing, I'm pretty paranoid about it. The rest of the first solo I'm confident about. I suppose I'll have to do ground school again, and maybe they'll have me do a tandem again. Since I've been grounded, and was out of work for three months, I've been studying three videos I bought. From Skydive U and somewhere else I bought Basic Body Flight, Cutaway and Basic Canopy Flight. I know you can't learn driving, ice skating, or skydiving from a book, but its the best I can do now. There had better be a lot of beer buying in my future. North Repetition does not transform a lie into a truth. Franklin D. Roosevelt
  14. The closest I have come to a commercial jet lately was a flight I booked, unintentionally of course, for the day after the blackout. I never got on, but my luggage made it to El Paso for the weekend.
  15. Anyone notice this Delta advertisement? I thought you might like it. Found it on the web. Sorry if this is a re-post.
  16. I went to a hypnotist after my last jump. I'm an AFF student and I didn't land so well, to put it mildly, on that jump. I wanted to remember anything that I forgot and know exactly what happened. I'm sure I was hypnotized, but i didn't remember anything new. Either there was nothing new to remember, or it didn't work.

    Lasix?

I looked at the Orth-K web site. It doesn't sound very exciting to me. Why would you want to have to regularly wear special contact lenses, on a schedule, to reshape your cornea? You might as well just wear regular contact lenses all the time, or am I missing something? The beauty of lasik, when it works, is that you never wear glasses or contact lenses, or at least until you are older and need reading glasses. North

    Lasix?

    Keely's right. With a changing prescription, I don't think you're a candidate at all.

    Lasix?

I agree as far as during the procedure, but a few hours later I did have significant pain. I learned on the second eye that it was best for me to go to sleep as soon as possible after the procedure. The next morning there was no pain. I followed the above advice. I went to the head of the laser surgery unit at the biggest hospital. She charged $2500/eye, minus a $250 employee discount. A bit extreme, but it bought some peace of mind. Of course that was before I knew I would need all my money for gear, etc. So far, I'm about 20/20 - 20/15 without any complications at 6 mos. My regular eye doctor advised against the surgery for the above reason. Of course, by definition, all here are risk takers. Stacy - I think you already have more advice than you even want to read. Lasix?

Had it (lasik) six months ago. Now 20/20, sometimes 20/15 in both eyes. My eyes are still a little dry, a side effect, but this was a small price to pay. Never had lasix. Had latex.
  21. My cousin just E-mailed me the above. I don't even know how to check for a previous post of an image. Am I supposed to? North
  22. Check out this tandem photo. It's too funny to put into words.
  23. Sorry Swoop, I now undertand better what you are saying. We never leave off the k's, so I was a little confused. And I didn't know what you do for a living. Anyway, in my work, we do use a broad range of voltage, from about 60KVP to 140KVP. Usually triple phase. North Repetition does not transform a lie into a truth. Franklin D. Roosevelt
  24. No such thing as high voltage? That's news. What I do, or my CT scanner does, is step up the voltage to 120,000 volts, smash the cathode rays into a tungsten or ceramic target, and you get X-Rays, 120KVP X-rays in such a case. BTW, how do you guarantee the authenticity of the video? I'm not sure one way or the other. I might show it to a physicist I know, if I can find him. 25. Does anybody know about this "Top Gun" place in Mesa AZ? There web site is at: http://www.fightercombat.com/gifts/flightofyourlife.htm I was thinking about going there but it kind of looks more like WWI than WWII or current fighters. Still seems like it could be fun. Any thoughts, anybody been there, done that? North Repetition does not transform a lie into a truth. Franklin D. Roosevelt
