  1. Live at the Northwest end of Akron Fulton Airport. There's an airshow here every year. Really great stuff usually...except the skydiving. Actually, you can't even call it skydiving...it's parachuting. 3 guys in a Lodestall using WDI's and what appear to be F111 canopies. Hop and pop...couple of turns...land. I mean...for pete's sake...light off a smoke canister! Get out a little higher and do some CReW! And get a real plane. These guys are military...using red/white/blue canopies. The local paper said Army parachuters...hehe. I guess what bugs me about this is it doesn't even come close to showing what a man with a rig strapped to him can really do with it. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  2. Had to be something along the lines of a flapping steering line on the left side. Lucky it wasn't any uglier than that. I don't see any problem with imagining deployment in that scenario...bet it was squirrelly . The PC has enough force to drag through the steering line. And once the pin is popped the whole mess is gonna deploy. Certainly is an odd mal . I'd be checking those riser covers and how the excess steering line is stowed. Especially at the top left corner of the tray where the bottom of the riser hits the corner of the D bag. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  3. Seems like I see this kind of thing every time I'm at the DZ. Some fool will come tearing through at 2 grand. What can be done? I know about checking for traffic when the door is opened but really, the chances of you spotting a small plane with the ground as a backdrop from over 2 miles away... Please don't dent the planet. 4. Loud doesn't quite describe it Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  5. Just recently added a dytter to my equipment. I like it alot. Nice to have 3 settings. I use mine as a reminder for breakoff, and the last 2 settings are used to monitor my deployment and hard deck altitudes. But you cannot rely on them, or your altimeter. Use your eyes and your brains. Get to know what 4,000 feet looks like. Any device like an altimeter or dytter can fail. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  6. UTD...the problem I and so many others have with your posts is you don't respect the sport. You have no clue how nice skydiving is now compared to how it used to be. All you do is complain as if the sport started 3 years ago for your benefit. You refer to us as a cult and I guess in alot of ways it must seem that way to a relative newbie like you who hasn't been around long enough to appreciate what you have and the sacrifices others have made so you and I can jump. I quit jumping in the early 90's for various reasons. When I returned 2 years ago I was amazed at the advances we've made in the last 10 years. Equipment, aircraft, facilities are all so much better now. You complain about how much it costs to jump but you have no point of reference. You want nicer things but you don't want to buck up for it. No skydiving facility will ever be as nice as you're used to in Beverly Hills. Get over it. It's all about your POV. Yea, you've made alot of jumps in the last 3 years but its also about "time in sport". You don't have enough of it to make the statements you've been making. Try being more positive. 7. Well let's just review what you've posted here shall we? this plane will probably never be used for skydiving We'll just have to wait and see on that. Maybe Pat should have used all that money to cut skydivers a break on jump tickets? $22 is pretty standard. This sport getting a bit pricy for you? This plane is a joke. How do you qualify that statement? Remodel the bathrooms; I’ve seen outhouses that were nicer. You there to sh$t or skydive? Maybe a class in business economics would benefit this situation Tell us about all of your business knowledge and real world application of that knowledge. but with all the money we are spending, You got a mouse in your pocket? You seem to be the only one complaining. I know whats best for this dropzone. In your vast 36 months of experience with skydiving you know what's best? Please. I don't know your age but Pat was doing innovative things in jumping while you were still trying to figure out how to walk. Egos like yours give jumpers a bad name. Please don't dent the planet. 8. I actually prefer the last one. You can see the love Mom has for her son. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  9. I know whats best for this dropzone. UntamedDOG I thought you were going to quit jumping. Now would be a good time. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  10. Unfortunately you never know how good your pilot is until he's faced with a situation requiring him to use his skills and decision making to get you out of a bad situation. Not unlike jumping, gravity works with us until one day it decides to work against us. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  11. I might be wrong here but I beleive the first 1000 feet is the first 1000 feet regardless of what you're jumping out of. The time to cover the first grand doesn't change because you're jumping an Otter or any other moving aircraft. Anybody know the physics? Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  12. So...last night she says she wants to go out with her friends. No big deal...more Sportscenter for me. She stumbles into bed at 4 in the morning. I wake up, thankful she made it home OK..Go out in the driveway to check on the car...it looks OK..but wait...something's wrong... Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  13. No need to be creative. You handled that one fine all by yourself. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  14. I think you should take a break too after your post about wanting to see someone go in. Need to take the rest of your life off...please. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1637798;#1637798 Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  15. How come you're always beating around the bush? Why don't you just tell us how you really feel? Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  16. OK...so my Raven was made prior to those that had the problem. Here's the thing...I've got it loaded about 1.3. This isn't giving me a warm fuzzy. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  17. Actually you really didn't lose altitude awareness as much as the little man in your head started screaming for you to check your altitude That's a good thing. I'll bet you won't do that again. Valuable lesson learned and I'm glad you are OK. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  18. egr...folks like you are the reason we aren't growing this sport. You may think its funny now but when you get some experience under your belt you'll soon realize that you can't do RW alone. We need people to come into this sport and gain experience. This person is struggling with some inner demons...anyone who's spent any amount of time in this sport has...you will to at some point. I only hope people are more understanding of you than you are here. Blues Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  19. because of the landings, more because it's not designed to handle a terminal opening at higher wingloadings. Where does that information come from? I haven't seen any posts in the incidents department where someone's reserve blew up. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  20. I like country...just not the twangy stuff. Actually went to my first country concert in February...Trace Adkins and Montgomery Gentry. It rocked. And the women in those country get-ups...very hot. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  21. Last time I had sex it was scary....I was all alone Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  22. How was the Pilot? Don't have it yet but I'll let you know. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  23. I don't think it's the Tri. Something changed somewhere and the good people at Aerodyne will figure it out. Did I mention they're letting me demo a Pilot? It is amazing that the Tri took so much abuse...much more than I could. And I jumped another Tri while the rigger was looking at mine and it opened "like butter". Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  24. No new pilot chute. It came with a non-collapsible but I just bought a new kill line last year. The PC had maybe 10 jumps on it before last weekend. Can a PC be mismatched to the D-bag? I'm really running this over in my head now. The grommet for the bag was too small for the old PC so we had to install a larger one. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  25. Thanks base...something that never occurred to me is the possibility of the stows on the bag opening early. That makes a lot of sense since this seemed to start when I got my new container. Gotta make a mental note of that one. Just as soon as my balls stop slapping against my ankles from those cracker openings I see your point Sparky but at these speeds even a hair of canopy beginning to open before line stretch could be an issue.
