  1. He was an american citizen, arrested in Chicago! Padilla -- who also goes by the name of Abdullah Al Muhajir -- was arrested at O'Hare International Airport after arriving from Pakistan on a connecting flight through Zurich. A Muslim convert with a violent criminal past in the United States, Padilla had spent recent years in the Middle East. He may technically be an american citizen but I think he was up to no good. Why do you think he suddenly decided he wanted to return to the U.S.? Certainly the government had some issues. They probably can't prove the "dirty bomb" theory but I have no problem with their actions here. the first X people would be carted off. After that, people would start answering the door differently. If a special class can be created for Padilla, a special class can be created for anyone. Do you really think the gov't is gonna come knocking on your door and take you away? If that was the case 2/3 of the people posting here would be gone. Smokin that stuff makes you paranoid. Actually, the reason we've seen no attacks is because I wear a necklace with a shark's tooth and a closing pin. Overall, the United States and our partners have disrupted at least ten serious al Qaeda terrorist plots since September the 11th, including three al Qaeda plots to attack inside the United States. We've stopped at least five more al Qaeda efforts to case targets in the United States, or infiltrate operatives into our country. Because of this steady progress, the enemy is wounded -- but the enemy is still capable of global operations. Our commitment is clear: We will not relent until the organized international terror networks are exposed and broken, and their leaders held to account for their acts of murder. GWB 10/6/05 So much oversimplification going on here. You're looking for perfect and it doesn't exist. For clean and comfortable and it doesn't exist. And in all your pontification I haven't heard anyone say how they would handle it differently. You assume you know everything the gov't knows about these folks...whether it can be proved in a court of law or not. You don't and probably never will. I'm glad that you're concerned and see your role as watchdog...keep up the good work. Leave the rest of it to the people who are tasked with the nearly impossible job of protecting US soil from people whose sole purpose is your death. I'd have to say they're doing just fine. No doubt...when I first saw it I thought he was going to fly into the lines. I'm sure there has to be some standard of weather conditions involved. I don't think he could stay that close if there was any wind at all. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne

  5. For awhile now there's been a funny smell coming from my fridge. No...it's not rotten food. I've completely emptied it and cleaned it out. It's more of a chemical smell. If I knew what refrigerant smelled like I could say it was leaking. But it's been like this for over a month now so I would think that the refrigerant would have leaked out completely by now. Any ideas? Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  6. Here in Ohio our State Troopers are notorious for their "fund raising" activities. Sure they have a safety purpose but I've never been able to understand how hiding on a freeway (the safest road for travel) accomplishes anything. They ought to be focusing on 2 lane highways which are statistically the most deadly. There's a tiny suburb of Cleveland called Linndale. Linndale owns some 400' of I-71. They use it exclusively to fund their city coffers. I could go on and on. Ohio mayor's courts do fine Small municipalities turn highways into lucrative source of income http://www.toledoblade.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20030720/NEWS24/107200103 Please don't dent the planet. 8. "Markedly different pictures can be presented depending on what one chooses to include in data relating to terrorism. For example, some would argue that the Iraq casualties — which are largely the product of sectarian violence, rampant criminal activity, and home grown insurgency — grossly distort the global terrorism picture and perhaps should not be attributed to terrorist activity. According to NCTC data, outside of Iraq, the total number of incidents with ten or more deaths remained at approximately the 2003-2004 level — 70 per year. This suggests that, excluding Iraq, the number of higher casualty terror attacks remains relatively stable." http://fpc.state.gov/documents/organization/69479.pdf Yea...sometimes reality sux as opposed to the fantasyland of the left. I spent hours designing a SS for my personal use. Foolishly I gave a copy to another person in the organization to use. Now it's all over the place and everyone loves it. Pisses me off because there was alot of hard work. Q. Is there any way to prevent this...some type of embeeded file that deactivates it after a certain number of uses. I don't want to PW protect it because that's a pain to do everytime I open it. Alwso, I'm thinking I could get others to pay me for it's use. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  13. A wise man once said "stress comes from not knowing what you're doing." Sales all my life and now Health Insurance. It's tough to get going but it only takes a few good deals and you're on your way. The hardest part is getting comfortable with the product line and knowing what your potential client needs and can afford. When you get a chance to sit with someone take the time to figure out their current situation and what they're hoping to accomplish. REemember, you are not selling you're educating the prospect. If you have a product that solves their problem you will get the business. However, you can't solve their problem if you don't know what line will help them the most. Know it and when you think you know,go over it again. Another hint, find the cheapest line you have. WHat does the most for the least amount of $. Clients won't tell you they can't afford something so make sure you put that inexpensive stuff in front of them. Marketing: I'm assuming the company provides leads of some sort. This is the tough part...you have to find a way to have people calling you and only you for their insurance. I haven't yet found a way to effectively do that. Referrals from clients you've sold are gold. Try and find a niche market and go after it. Organization: I use a program called ACT! http://www.act.com/ I believe you need some kind of program to keep you organized and focused. The people who blew you off today may be ready 1 month, 2 months, 6 months down the road. Stay in touch with them. PM me if you want to talk more. Good luck! Please don't dent the planet. 14. On our way back from Aruba we sat next to a couple who had just finished a Windjammer. They were raving about it. Got back 2 weeks ago from a RCCL Western Carribean. My beer cruise. Like anything some good and some bad but we had 4 kids with us. I want to go without the little terrors. Even so I can see myself wanting something more exciting and with alot less old folks. BTW...this was my SO's 23rd cruise. She doesn't have anything good to say about Carnival. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne

  19. I don't think stating that you didn't like something is being close minded. My definition of close minded is not seeing all the possibilities and acknowledging them. Seeing the world in black & white instead of all the subtle greys. Example: Abortion...is it right or wrong? I can see valid points on both sides. BTW...the Naked Gun movies were hilarious. Aruba Skydiving.

I was interested in Natalee when I got back so I did some research on my own. 1. Carlos & Charlie's is not the upscale place most people think it is. Bad neighborhood...funky people hanging around. Not the place for a bunch of 18yo's. 2. The lighthouse where she said she was going...there's nothing up there...certainly nothing at 2-3am. My theory is things got out of hand when she tried to say no. 3. The end of the island where the lighthouse is located is also the place where the restaurants dump their garbage into the ocean. The idea is the sharks will be attracted to the waste and stay away from the resort areas. I beleive Natalee may have ended up a late nite shark snack. Please don't dent the planet. There was one a while back. Not anymore tho. Was there in November and the biggest problem would be the wind. It never stopped blowing 15+. Rent a jeep and head out to the desert...find the natural pool. Amazing place. Have a great time. Aruba's taken alot of hits over the last few years. Please don't dent the planet.
