  1. I have a huge book full of documents and tons of stories being told by all these other people. If i could find the bomb, I'd have it removed...thus saving EVERYONE. But until we find it, please just believe me when i say that it is there. We'll find the proof eventually, but it may be to late to save you.
  2. Nope...if Y doesn't exist, how did I miss it? Very true...and goes both ways. You don't KNOW that Y doesn't exist. You don't believe it exists, but you don't know that for a fact. If you tear down the building and prove to me that there is no bomb, that changes everything. But at this point you don't know, for a fact, that it doesn't exist. I hope you are happy with your life and I pray that the bomb doesn't take your non-believing life. If the bomb gets you, I'll feel like i failed you as friend and human being...I know that I should have tried harder to get you to believe. I guess that is one thing i would be afraid of in this world.
  3. So if you saw someone walk into a building you knew was gonna blow up, you wouldn't save them? If a child is about drink poison, you wouldn't save it? People are not here to be saved, but if I can save them doing something that I know will hurt them, I would be a jackass if I didn't try. Who said anything about god? I'm talking about a bomb. As an atheist I don't believe in god. I'm not scared of anything. I learned about a deadly bomb and I'm avoiding it. Others don't seem to know about the dangers of the bomb, so I'm helping them learn about it. I will teach those who want to learn about the bomb and pray for those who don't believe. I respect your decision not to believe in the bomb, but I hope take the time learn about before deciding not to believe. Yet people are convinced that I'm scared to live life and that i'm missing out things. I'm not scared or missing anything.
  4. I would have lived my life based on a choice I made...who says i missed out on anything? I could still skydive, climb mountains, go deep sea fishing, have a ton of friends and have a loving family. Did I pass on a few drunken football games in favor or spending the day spreading the word, sure...but why would I regret that? You assume I missed out on things just bacause I chose to believe in the bomb? I can do all the things you can do, so i didn't miss out on anything. I chose to do X, you chose to do Y. We both missed something. You do your thing, i'll do mine. If I'm happy with mine, it doesn't matter whether you think i wasted it or not. I died happy and content...I would hope you feel the same way when you die. as long the bomb doesn't get ya, then I'd scream "SEE, I TOLD YOU SO!"
  5. There in lies the dilemma. I could let the bomb decide how I act today, and move out of that place...then never think about it again. Or I could spend my whole life trying to convince people that the bomb is real. If I dedicate my life to spreading the word about this bomb, I might be 100% satisfied knowing that I did my part to save humanity from the big bomb. not everyone had the faith I did, but I saved some. My life was a success in my eyes, who among you would tell me i'm wrong? It may be generations before that thing actually kills anyone...so I hope I have inspired young people to continue passing on the word. If they take up the calling and live a full life spreading the word of the bomb and die as happy and content me...then bomb bless them. For you non-beleivers, in bombs name I pray for you. Your day is coming...go ahead and sleep in your bomb infested apartment building...you'll regret dimissing me when your bed explodes!
  6. So you haven't seen the bomb and it hasn't gone off yet. There still may be a bomb in that building that could go off at any time. The longer it goes without blowing up, the harder it will be for people to believe the bomb is real. But some people will still believe it and avoid that place. The bomb may be real, it may not be real...beleiving in it requires you to make a leap of faith. If you choose wrong, you could be in the building when if finally blows up. do you want to take that chance? It's your call.
  7. It doesn't have to be in his imagination...let try a different analogy. Lets say a bunch of people tells you there is a bomb in your apartment building. Some of them you know, others you don't know. They show you drawings of what looks like a bomb and tell you stories about people who hung out with the guy that built the bomb. They don't know where it is or when it will go off...but they are sure there is a bomb in your building. Some people will believe that and leave the building. Others will write it off as some crazy fools trying to scare you. You need proof before you pack up your life and leave. You search for the bomb, but you do not see it. For some people, that is enough for them to prove that there is no bomb. The bomb believers were wrong and you're listening to them. But the only way to confirm the existence of this bomb is to find it or have it explode. Without knowing when the bomb will go off, you have choice to make. You could believe it's there. If you choose this, you have to decide what to do. You could pack up your stuff and leave the building, never to return for fear of the big bomb. OR you could move out, but stand outside the building and spread the word of this bomb. You know you have to do everything in your power to save your friends, your family and anyone else who decides to they want to move in to that building. But how far are you willing to go to convince others that this bomb is real? What if they don't believe your story? They think you're nuts and refuse to leave the building. Some may believe you and move out of the building. A few of them may choose to help you spread the word to the people who don't believe. In your mind, the non-believers are gonna die...how far do you go in your efforts to save them? Some people will tell you the story, and let you decide. others will tackle you and do everything they can to keep you from going in to that building. The building owners will want set up next to you and try to convince everyone that there is no bomb...you and your group are just paranoid freaks...the place is safe. Me, I appreciate the bomb guys and the effort they put forth to save me. But I don't beleive them, but respect their passion, but tell them to leave me alone. I expect to see them outside my building every day, but i expect them to eventually stop trying to change MY mind. They can keep trying convert others, but they gotta leave me alone.
  8. I take it you don't watch Boston Legal. Last night they had a woman who wanted an annulment because her husband was in love with a cow.
  9. It's only funny until someone gets hurt. This guy got hurt. With his history of heart problems, he could have easily died of a heart attack during this ordeal. Then would people be laughing about this? I would hope not. editted to add: If this guy did this to himself, I hope Home Depot sues him and pursues criminal charges against the guy
  10. http://www.parachuteplace.com/parachute_staff.html does not list any Master Riggers.
  11. Muffins were pretty easy, until they started falling apart. Spaghetti was pretty easy too...no sauce of course. Two friends did both of those...very funny videos! I prefer my snacking to be limited to cross country jumps, more appropriately referred to as "Dinner Cruises", I've taken a whole list of items on those, including burgers, a sub, grilled cheese and chili. I do agree that things taste better up there. Eating dinner and watching the sun set at 12,000 feet...what a view! If I had a tandem rating, I'd take a date!
  12. The last manned mission to the Moon proved that it wasn't made of cheese...that's why we haven't been back! No sense going if there's no cheese.
  13. Who cares if you can vote in the US? If you were in the US, would you support one of those two parties? If you are familiar with the Democratic and Republic party in the US, choose the answer that best fits your party affiliation. If you are not sure, or you aren't familiar with the two parties, then you fit into the "I don't vote along party lines" options. There is also a "I don't vote at all" section.
  14. a condom eliminated all of the concerns people have voiced over this. I'm a safety conscious kind of guy!
  15. To the original question, I say you'd have: 2 slices of bread...which seems obvious 1 sandwich, cut into 2 slices. If you eat 1 slice of the sandwich, you are eating 1 slice of bread.
  16. I grew up putting butter on my ham sandwiches, so it's not an English thing. If you haven't tried it, I highly recommend it. I prefer butter with thick slice or chunks that you get from home baked ham. It's good on the the sliced deli meat too, but thick sliced of baked ham...that's the way to go! damn...now I gotta bake a ham this weekend!
  17. despite all the fried fish, bratwursts, cheese curds and beer...Milwaukee made the top 20 FITTEST. I notice they started making the list AFTER my fat ass moved to Chicago. hmmm...
  18. Old time hear is alive and well in Chicago. There is a group of guys at Chicagoland Skydiving that bring out the PC's and lo-po's just for fun. They did a 4-way a few years ago. It would have been a 5-way, but one guy forgot to bring his reserve. One guys loves to teach younger jumpers about the gear and routinely lets people jump the gear. Last weekend we watched him give a woman a briefing as she prepares to make her first jump on a Paracommander. Hopefully the winds will be low enough and she'll get that thing in air this weekend. Great gear! The date on the pilot chute was in the 1950's. The main is a "competition model" that was orginally made for a member of the Danish team that attended the 1973(I think) world championships. Neat little bit of history.
  19. There is no standard for this, it depends on your team members. The fall rate for your team is set by your fastest faller. Any slower than that and he/she will be forced to fly in a de-arch and she/he go low a lot. That gets frustrating for EVERYONE. It's easier to have three people go faster than it is for one to go slower. I set the rate for my team. I used to de-arch and match the 120-125 average of my team. I went low quite a bit and had lots of trouble on 360 degree turns. Then we got some coaching. Based on the coaching, I started to arch a little bit and the rest of the team wore weight belts. We added 2 full points to average on that day! We continued to improve throughout the season at our new fall rate, 130MPH! I never went low after that. In fact, I lost 10 pounds and was floaty on a couple jumps. I didn't need a baggier suit. The team mebers who already wore weight belts added 2-4 pounds. The other person arched a little more, but didn't have a problem with that little bit of extra arching. everyone noticed their turns were faster, stops were more crisp and we all felt like we had more control. If you notice your fast faller flies in a hard arch or wears a tight jump suit, then you can work on slowing her/him down by getting a baggy suit and flying in a more relaxed arch. You probably don't have that problem at 114MPH...but I thought i'd mention it.
  20. what if you move everyone to the front of plane, then cut the engine. Maybe one or two guys could stay to help the guy. There isn't really room more than two people anyway. Maybe have pilot give a little zero G...that might help the guy out. Maybe do like do when someone breaks through the ice on a river. make a human chain of people laying of thier stomchs. Each person holds on to the knees of the person in front of him. Everyone inch forward until the first person reaches the guy. One thing is for sure, if you find yourself hanging lioke that, don't cut away until you know you're hanging from!
  21. yes, he gets the 70 virgins, but they are all midgets. at least he gets a little something for the effort...which is nice.
  22. I'm 250 without gear...280 out the door. I started the sport at 220, and found upsizing my ass was more fun than downsizing my canopy! So take your anorexic ass to a few all-they-can-cook buffets and call us fat boys when you bulk up! damn light weights! With my jumpsuit I'm 125mph on most 4-ways. Slowest I've been was 117 on a 20 way. Fastest on my belly is 187mph...no jump suit and flying with the head down folks. They loved seeing a flat flyer in the air with them. THAT WAS FUN...but it reminded me that arching sucks! Do yourself and you jump buddies a favor. Get a baggie suit and get your big butt to the tunnel. Thats how I learned...I just wish I had done it sooner. BTW, there is a guy, pumpkin, out at Skydive Chicago who I hear was going 150+mph on his student jumps. He's gotta be 300 pounds before gear up.
  23. One of the thoughts is that security wouldn't let him without checking the back pack. so he went to the bench and attempted to wrap the device around his check...so the jacket would conceal the bulk. One account of the aftermath is that the top half of the body was almost completely destroyed bt the blast. I can see that happening if the bomb is goes off while he was trying to wrap it around his chest.
  24. I heard it on the radio this morning. Some guy was saying that this "suicide" guy was denied entrance into the stadium in the hours before the game. apparently he refused to let security look inside his back pack. So the idea that stadium security is pretty weak doesn't hold water. Those guys appear to have done thier job. Tha latest report I saw indicates that this guy had recently joins the same mosque that Zacarias Moussaoui. About the bomb..."Sources confirmed Tuesday night that at least one of the components in the bomb used by Joel Henry Hinrichs III Saturday night was a product called TATP. Technically, TATP is triacetone triperoxide. However, it's called the 'Mother of Satan' by Islamist extremists. Experts say it is made by mixing common household items such as drain cleaner and bleach to create a white powder with a strong smell."
  25. They've got some new VRW stuff at http://www.vrw4way.com/descriptions/ and http://www.bangboompow.com/dives/ I'm not a freeflyer, but I am doing my part to support the VRW competitions....I hope people use this site!
