    4-Way VRW

I plan to work with Missy in the next few weeks on the 2-way thing. The 4-way is her baby, so i have offered to help with the 2-way. No sense trying to take her focus away from the big picture. We are planning to have VRW as part of the Midwest Skydiving League this year. We hope that having 2-way at all the meets will help prepare the competitors for Missy's 4-way VRW competition later in the season. It will be an honor to work with Missy on this project. I can't wait!
  2. I was hoping someone would point that out! Couldn't agree with you more.
  3. did you read the posts to the poll about being the rebound person? The rebound rarely works out. It can be fun for a while, but long term it's not worth it. Everyone thinks that what they have is special, so they figure the general rule doesn't apply to them. But it's the general rule for a reason. I hope for her sake that i'm wrong. But i've seen it go bad too many times. Be careful if you try to tell her the rebound is a bad idea. They never listen. She'll be mad if you tell her it's a bad idea. You'll get some variation of "Yuo don't him like I know him. What we have is special. Besides, I'm adult and I know what i'm doing.". And sometimes when the relationship ends, they blame you for being so negative. Those are the fun ones. good luck to you and your sister.
  4. Alcoholics Anonymous has a plane? Bet they serve the best drinks!
  5. From the Linus Pauling Institute, http://lpi.oregonstate.edu/infocenter/vitamins/vitaminE/ "Scientists at the Linus Pauling Institute feel there exists credible evidence that taking a supplement of 200 IU of natural source d-alpha-tocopherol (RRR-alpha-tocopherol) daily with a meal may help protect adults from chronic diseases like heart disease," Tolerable Upper Intake Level (UL) for Alpha-Tocopherol Age Group mg/day (IU/day d-alpha-tocopherol) Infants 0-12 months Not Possible to Establish* Children 1-3 years 200 mg (300 IU) Children 4-8 years 300 mg (450 IU) Children 9-13 years 600 mg (900 IU) Adolescents 14-18 years 800 mg (1,200 IU) Adults 19 and older 1,000 mg (1,500 IU) Anything above these levels has a risk of hemorrhaging. 7. You are not alone. I've been unemployed for a year. It is a frustrating process. Best of luck, stay positive!
  8. "...and the only reason they get away with it are the numbskulls at companies like CNN hitching their wagon to the story. Oh and readers like you. " I guess you technically did not call me a numbskull, you just said that I do the same things that the numbskulls at CNN do. I don't see much difference. Based on your response, you did not intend that. I still stand my other assertions. I think it is worth noting that this guy is in court over prviding false information on federal document in October 2004. The document he lied on was an application for security clearance. There are no charges relating to his wall street statement...he is just being investigated.
  9. I was giving your response some consideration, until you specifically call me a numbskull. After that I had a hard time taking you seriously. You made your point, you think the US government is the same as Hitler. You toss around the word gestapo to help draw a comparison between this government and what Hitler did in Germany. And you get than from this case? I don't see how. The guy was taken off flight by his Guard unit for anger issues. He said we should fly a plane into wall street. Sorry, I don't want to be on the plane when he's flying. They may find that this guy was talking crap, but they should at least look in to it. The woman said he made the comment in late 2003. If they were dating, nobody is gonna turn in a boyfriend. I hope she didn't this out of spite, but we can't know that until we hear more facts. But to blame this on the government is way off base. I expect the government to take this charge seriously.
  10. http://news.independent.co.uk/world/middle_east/story.jsp?story=609501 First time in history they've had an election...how great is that! It is a huge start in the right direction for those guys. The fact that some groups are still pissed because women can't vote seems to be getting the focus though.
  11. That says more about the court system than it does the governement as a whole. It is way to easy to get off on a technicality these days. you could start a whole thread on the was defense lawyers are ruining the court system and getting guilty people off. Being guilty means that you did it. Being found guilty in court has become a sign that you didn't pay enough for your lawyer. That's sad.
  12. Hi Brian, Glad to hear you're competing this year. I'll see what I can find in the way of a 4th for you. Who else is on your team?
  13. Couldn't have said it better myself!
  14. Would you prefer the woman kept her mouth shut until AFTER this jackass takes his plane into wall street? He lied on a government application about is arrest. He may be a violent person...how do we know? What if she broke up with him because he was violent and abusive? We don't know, but I think it sucks that people assume she is just doing this get even with him. Some of the pilots who flew into the WTC were talking about at a bar the week before they did it. Bet that bartender feels like a real jerk for not taking it seriously. They busted a guy who told the airline training people that he didn't want to learn how to land the plane, just take off and fly. He turned out to be affiliated with the hijackers. If someone did this out of spite, she should be prosecuted for it. That's how you keep scorned women from making false accusations. If someone calls a teacher a child mollester, you HAVE take it seriously. If a woman says she was raped, you HAVE to take it seriously. And if a pilot says he is thinking about about flying a plane into a building, you HAVE to take that seriously. Any pilot who makes that comment, even as a joke, should be questioned anyway.

    Trig. Help

    (3y/(4z)) / (2y/(4z)) *4z = 3y / 2y / y = 3/2 = 1.5 I think... Another way to solve it... The 2nd equation says that x=2y/4z which means that y=2zx substitute the y value into the first equation and you get w=3(2zx)/4z or w=6zx/4z The z's cancel each other so w=3x/2 therefore w/x = 3/2
  16. As far as the ultra thin look...it's generally not healthy, and It would worry me that I'm gonna break you if I touch too much. The Calista Flockhart look is bad...she looked sick. Starvation and bulimia are easy ways to look like that, but very unhealthy. But look at Hilary Swank in Million Dollar Baby...not just skinny, but in good shape. She looks like that because she worked out hard and ate a healthy diet...that's a role model! Now back to the question at hand. I don't have favorite part. Each woman is different. As long as you have one thing that I notice, the rest is pretty much irrelevant. I've known overweight women who had a beautiful eyes or a face that could light up a room. A lot of guys can't get past the weight issue, but I lost many weekends staring into those eyes. I've also women with terrible facial features, but something about that butt...WOW! If you don't have that one body part that catches my eye, your personality can be so attractive that the rest doesn't matter. FYI, you gotta have a hell of a personality to overcome a 45" waist and a thicker mustache that I have...but I suppose it's possible. Personality can also be your downfall. Most of the hollywood types are fun to look at, but as soon as they start talking...you might as well pour ice down my shorts. Jessica Simpson falls into this category...she comes across as an idiot most of the time. But Janeane Garafolo...she's the shit! Nothing super attractive about her, but she is smart, funny and don't take crap from anybody...DAMN...gotta take a cold shower now! If you are looking for tips or suggestions. 1. Avoid bad hairstyles. The wrong hairstyle distracts my attention from your eyes, nose, etc. You might have the best eyes and the cutest nose...but if you have mullet, I'll be too focused on the awesomely bad hair! 2. Be responsible with your clothing. I'm 5' 10" and 250 pounds...I believe it would violate all that good in this world if i walked around in a speedo! I tried one on...it wasn't pretty! Same reason as the bad hair...you have focused my attention somewhere that isn't your best asset. I may never see your adorable smile or sexy little earlobes if i'm staring at you pimply butt because you decided to where a thong today.
  17. People would be more outraged if the story was reported as a teacher raping a 13 year student. There seems to be a double standard in these cases. Society tends to laugh at the idea of a woman raping a man, or a woman sexually harassing a man. But this is a child...not a man. Part of the problem is the terms they use when reporting these cases. Would you react different if the report labeled the woman as an accused child molester or as a pedofile? Those two terms that seem get people to notice how sick this crime is. This woman raped child, plain and simple. That should scare all the parents out there. It was teacher abusing a student...that should scare everyone!
  18. it all depends on what programs get cut. And is it really a cut, our did we just not increase spending on it? If most department grow at 6%, but the EPA only gets 2%, I've seen that charecterized as a cut. A few years ago they listed some of the cuts Bush Sr made to the budget. $100K+ that was spent on the Tea Commission. This a group of people who got together once a quarter(I think), stayed a expensive hotels and taste tested tea. all most people heard waas that $100K was being cut from the budget the agriculture department. They assume Bush was in favor of unsafe food prducts and was trying to make it easier for corporate farmers to squeeze out the little guys. They shut up when they found out about the Tea Commission...tough to argue that we need that. $75k+ that was being spent of the Capitol Building Ice Program. When first built the building there was no such thing as a freezers. Buckets of ice had to be brought to each room every day. With the advent of freezers and automatic ice machine, we really didn't need that anymore. Sad that it took until the early 90's to kill that, but I'm glad it's gone. i'm sure every department has programs like that. It has to easier to find these in a department as small as the EPA.
  19. I use Excel to generate my random numbers. It works well, but I'd like to keep this as a self contained access program. Can't figure out how to generate a random number in Access. I assign each formation a random number. Every time you sort the data by that column the number is updated with a new value...so the dives are always different. All I do is paste the values into my access table and VOILA! Training Day is set. The table to add is a one that tracks the points scored on each dive, so we can monitor our progress. We will also be able to see if there are any formations that are kicking our ass...like that damn Piver-Viper
  20. I've got them in an Access database. it has the color codes too, based on our continuity plan. For Bundy-Bundy I used the color codes from the old Bundy random. Not sure if that's the best way to attack it, but it's easy to change. The printout of the dive pool is great. I am struggling with a random dive generator to use for training jumps. I can email that if anyone wants it...especially if someone might have the skills needed to finish it.
  21. the new dive pool PDF's ftp://www.fai.org/parachuting/competition_rules/fs4_pool_2005.pdf ftp://www.fai.org/parachuting/competition_rules/fs4_pool_2005_randoms.pdf Anybody able to find Word documents insteard of PDF?
  22. Sorry for the long post, but I have some experience in the Amway business. I wish people would give Amway a break. They have a sound business model and they offer one of the most level playing fields in the world. Anyone willing to do the work will make it. If someone is trying to make it in Amway/Quixtar, be a friend and support them. You don't have to sign up, but look though the catalogs and at least consider buying some stuff. I support all my friends who start a business, regardless of what it is, That's what friends do. People forget that Amway was investigated by the Federal Trade Commission back in the 70's. It was shown be a legitimate business and NOT a pyramid scheme. Pyramid schemes are illegal. Do you really think companies like Coca Cola would sign a business deal with something illegal? In a pyramid, the person who signed you up will always make more money than you. In Amway you can surpass the income of your upline. You just have to work harder that he/she does...and it happens a lot! As someone pointed out, I did alienate my family because of the business. When I showed them what I was into, they laughed and told me i'd never make it. I thanked them for supporting my business and tried to move on. Imagine if your wife, husband, parents, etc told you that your job was stupid and that you were destined to fail at it. How long would you put up with it? Not very long! At the same time I know others who relentlessly pursued family and friends. That sucks, and it helped give the business a bad name. If somenoe says no thanks, you gotta respect that. It does suck that so many people say no before they even see the business plan. But if they don't want to see it, they don't want to see it. Period. The best way to get those people involved is to go out start making some money at it...eventually some of them will come begging for you to get them started. The business works and the plan is sound. At one point in the 90's Amway passed McDonalds as the #1 creator of new millionaires in the world. That is no small feat. I haven't been involved in Quixtar, but I assume it's the same business model...sponsor six who sponsor 4 who sponsor 2. Success in Amway was based on your ability to follow that plan. That is a commitment that most people won't make...myself included. Make X new contacts a day, call Y people a week, show the plan to Z people a month. It was tough to find the motivation, that is where the books, tapes and seminars helped. Lots and lots of self esteem and you-can-do-it type of stuff. The books, tapes and seminars are tricky thing. For the people who follow that system and get results...they credit it as the reason they made it big. For the people who follow it and fail, it's a rip off. I find it a little disturbing that the big distributors make that kind of money on the system. But make no mistake, they are still making big money from the Amway side of things. There are thousands of people making $150K+ a year from the Amway part of the business. The money they make from the tapes and books, is as good or better...but they earn it through speaking engagements and holding business success seminars. I can tell you that I became a better person after reading those books and listening to those tapes. They were very inspirational. I'm not a salesperson, and it seems no amount of books will change that. When i realized that, I quit the business. I'm still a better person for the experience. I know a few people who made it big by focusing on selling the products. The water filters, the gift program, etc. Those had 20-35% mark up on them, not bad for a sales commission. If you are have a sales type personality, you should check out the opportunity.
  23. Great idea. I'l have to figure out how to contact any judges in the Chicago area. Any suggestions?
  24. I posted this in RW forum, but I wanted to hear from you folks too. I've got three young teams that are all planning to compete at Nationals in 2005. They have never been there, so they are wondering what to expect from the judges. They are getting tunnel time, coaching and making a ton of practice jumps to prepare for this. I couldn't be prouder of them. My only advice is to make sure the video person is top notch. Some of the video they had last year was tough to judge because the camera guy was too far away. In others the angle made it tough to see a specific grip. Two Questions: 1. The team members can coaching and tunnel time, but what about the videograpger? Is there anyone holding camps or private coaching for 4-way camera flyers? 2. Beyond the video, what else should they know about? I don't want them coming back from Perris and saying "I wish I new about X!!!"
