  1. So it has come down to a GTI or Phantom. Is the Phantom going to be worth the wait? They won't start till August and with the initial rush of orders i am thinking 8 weeks minimum, not to mention that there is no sales rep in my area (SDAZ Eloy), I dont really trust myself to take accurate measurements. But the Phantom is so cool, seems like more bang for the buck. http://dropman.com
  2. looking at this pic - http://www.jii-wings.com/gallery/wings07.jpg, it seems grabbing the PC is tricky http://dropman.com
  3. Actually I only included the GS1 because i wasn't sure that it was aimed at the the high end segment, but I guess it is. http://dropman.com
  4. So I am ready to buy my first wing suit. I have made 5 jumps on a wingsuit so far. The first two were done with my friend's GTI, followed by some coaching & practice on an old Classic, and finally a fun jump ( + an almost-off-dz landing) on a new Classic II. I didn't get amazing performance on any of those flights obviously but I did ok. My coach said besides more experience the only thing he wanted to see quick improvement on was opening (keep leg wing closed!). I was planning on getting a new GTI, however I came noticed that Phoenix-Fly is now selling the Phantom soon, and some more browsing in this forum revealed the GS1 & Phi. I am not sure that I would want a GS1 or Phi as a first suit since I am not sure what performance level they are directed at, but the Phantom seems cool... So here's the choice: -GTI -wait for Phatom -GS1? -Phi? -Other maybe? Thoughts / questions / answers welcome. PS: bird-man should definately make the T-shirt on the orderform free with the purchase of new suit :) http://dropman.com

  7. Here's the route : http://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=corvallis+or&daddr=chandler+az&hl=en I am moving from oregon following my graduation in 3 weeks. I will load up my car with my worldly possesions and move on down to Chander AZ. Since this is going to be a damn boring trip, I want to take skydiving breaks along the way. So, where are the dropzones that are on or close to I-5 and I-10? http://dropman.com
  8. I see the close bug there, yeah that is annoying! Woops, I will try to get this fixed. Also, when u change someone's ratings, the way to update that throughtout the program is to use the refresh button next to the person chooser. I will have look into making this more automatic. Also you already can subtract funds, just enter a payment that affects balance and has a negative value. For the current layout 800x600 is not enough. A computer that cannot go higher than that may also not be able to run the java virtual machie, so that is not much of an issue i think. Stretching the program doesnt do anthing to my mouse pointer, it works just fine. perhaps install the latest java runtime? As far as all your other comments, I will look into all that when school starts unwinding. Thanks for your candid response! -Pieter http://dropman.com
  9. I will have a look into fixing all that this week. In the settings, there is a box for "skydives need to be payed for immediately". If this is the case, then flying a load will not add charges to the Finances. Otherwise it will. Thanks for the feedback Edit: Another note: If a person hand manifest money in exchange for a jump/can of pop or anything, Affects balance shouldnt be checked. Affects balance is ony when you buy something without paying for it (i.e build debt) or you pay off your debt. When the above mentioned setting is off, flying a load adds charges to the Finances that do affect balance. Oh and the team jumps do correctly fill multiple slots, the entry in the table just shows the jump type they are doing & it's price. Have a look at the slots left & total income when you add a team. http://dropman.com

  14. kneelock out of a C182 for 2-way freeflying is always fun. Crotch & poised, or door and whatever-u-call-opposite-of-that are the two ways you can do this. Either one seems to work well. http://dropman.com
  15. It's written in Java, so it will run on any machine. Using eclipse for coding. Using MySQL for the database http://dropman.com
  16. And besides, you unnecessarily risk losing your freebag and PC http://dropman.com
  17. Yo all, I've been busy, but I spend lots of my free time developing new dropzone software (see here) Its getting pretty close to completion, and looks slick IMO. For the Manifest section, I have a list of loads for the day, and when you edit one of the loads, you choose the pilot plane etc and of course list of jumpers. I would like to know how all the manifesters here would like this to work, so it can be as user friendly as possible. How should the load be displayed? How should you enter a person to the load? Any other suggestions? When I have a release candidate I am happy with, I will post a link so you all can try it out. Thanks. Edit: note that there are now more sections in the software than stated in the old post http://dropman.com
  18. It takes a bit for you to reach terminal, before you do, you can have speeds anywhere between 0 and 120 mph (or ~160 if u freefly). Happens on mine too. http://dropman.com
  19. My sabre never gives me problems. I dont roll the nose at all, but I push it all the way in to the packjob, and I keep the slider well quartered. http://dropman.com
  20. Their new website has been "in development" for over a year now, and they haven't touched their current once since it seems. Be sure the rig you want is still actually for sale. http://dropman.com
  21. from the pictures I've seen there is no bungee and it also doesnt seem like it would be easy to add a bungee to it. How do people keep that thing on their face? http://dropman.com
