Wendy- I am glad you opened this topic. It is driving me crazy. The ones that get me bad are personalized. Ann, you really need to enlarge your penis. Improve your Penile blood flow and Gain 3+ Full Inches In Length, plus Expand Your Penis Up To 20% Thicker. No Pumps! No Surgery! No Exercises. Does this excite you Ann, it might exicte your mate? I dont get the septic tank ones, but I do have a house and I get the debt reduction, and mortgage ones. And the human growth hormone ones. Basically, I open my mail and Select ALL. Rarely is there anything in there really FOR ME. ~AirAnn~

Hey SkySister- Actually, Ramon is a good sit coach. Ramon is known around this area for really caring about his students and he spends a good deal of time with each person. I have seen Ramon get so excited when "one of his girls" does well. I think especially when they were trying for a vSCR. He was genuinely thrilled about it. He watched the video several times sitting 4 feet from the big screen over here. If you come to Houston, I will get you squared away. There are actually tons of real fine coaches here. I will recommend some and others I just can not. I will jump with you as well. Either DZ here has a good coach. Eric Boyd is an excellent coach at Spaceland. I recommend him very highly. Stevie Boyd is also a good choice. I have had several jumps with Eric. He is an honest, straight forward guy. He is also very kind hearted. He has a way about him that keeps you at ease and this makes a coach jump a FUN learning experience that you wont regret. So, in Houston- Either Ramon @ Waller or Eric @ Spaceland. Keep jumping and working on your sit. A sit coach will help you along but you cant bypass practice. Sorta like muscle memory in RW, you jump and remember the position and then baby step forward to the next add on skill. I will try and email you some literature to read and see the pictures. It was faster and easier for me to learn when I had a mental image of what I wanted to do. ~AirAnn~

No kidding.... I forgot about all that... Man! Blasting from the past. ~AirAnn~

I have landed crosswind on purpose and I have over 300 jumps. I ran out of options when the wind was more dramatic when I landed. (++15 mph) Another 90 degree turn would have had me way too low. As it turned out, I was absolutely fine. My camera helmet has a scar, I had a tiny concussion but the hearing in my right ear came back after about an hour. (Yes, I got video) The option to turn into the wind could have had me 6 feet under, too low. I think at some point you are going to have an injury. If you think not, you are fooling yourself. Ankle sprain, shoulder in the door injury, hard openings, hail damage... all these and more are available to skydivers. Young skydivers need to get aware quickly on how to avoid injuries in the first place. Hell, I cut my foot one time on a sharp blade of grass. LOL I dont go barefoot much anymore. ~AirAnn~
-
Steve, It is just the way it works with me. I also help a lot of students by email from all over the country. If somebody asks me something, I pretty much tell them what I think. I also really enjoy talking to students and new jumpers. I see their wide eyed excitement and selfishly it helps me alot more than it might them. The fact of the matter is this. I NEVER in a million years thought I could jump out of an airplane. (scared of heights) So I just wanted to see if I could. Call it a double dog dare to myself. I went to the dz without telling anyone. And here I am today. So thats why I say- if you can jump out of an airplane you can do anything-. That is how I felt then and now. What skydiving did for me was something I feel needs to be shared with other people. Emalee, jumped by herself. I only provided her opportunity. Her is what she wrote for the article about her experience: "There are few words that can accurately describe the skydiving experience. I never felt fear, only excitement. After you clear the plane its 45 seconds of glorious exhilaration followed closely by about 5 minutes of sheer heaven. No boss, no boyfriend could ever inspire such respect and reverence. Only God is capable of surpassing the awe of that horizon in the far distance, the ground spread flat beneath you, your skin pulled taunt by the velocity of wind rushing past. Those scant moments might cure the most determined cynic, could put joy into the heart of the depressed, has put to rest the most time-hardened fears. It's the closest man will ever come to flying of his own volition…as soon as I hit the ground I wanted to be up there again. I have already booked my next jump, and I plan to put aside money to jump at least once a month if not more. I will never be the same person as I was yesterday…the only fear I now have is that something could happen that might keep me from jumping again." Now, about people in this forum, mostly these folks are ok. Quite a large number of you guys are above outstanding. Sometimes you wouldnt know it by the posts, but perception in this medium is not the be all and end all of a person. People are most likely deeper in real life than what they write about in here. In addition, writing styles and wording will make you either think someone is a jerk or a hero. Possibly neither are accurate. Not that long ago, I as a single person, was about to lose my house and it was mentioned on a thread. I was really depressed about it. This was some time back and a way different posting crowd. But, I recieved help and awesome nice letters that to this day I keep in a plastic folder to remember how good people can be. Even bad people have their good days. I dont feel the need to abandon the entire human race or one single person instantly or permently. I think that given enough time for a thought process to occur people are fundementally good. Even no worries if we dont agree. Differences of opinion are valuable in that it gives one a chance to see things differently. Indeed the outcome may be the very same, but still a valuable exchange. For the record, I am going to help Gator. I havent figured out exactly how yet. But the idea will come to me in time and with enough coffee. Faith. ~AirAnn~
-
If I had extra money to send to Gator, I would. I think she would likely make a fine skydiver. She seems to know what she wants and has figured out just about every option there is on how to reach her goal. And she seems very serious. I say GO GIRL. It never hurts to ask for help with something that you have your sights set on. Whats the worst that could happen? Can you help with my AFF? __yes __no A couple of years ago, and I now forget which Parachutist it was in, but I had given away the first AirAnn.com Fresh Air Award. The young woman who did the tandem was just 18, had given birth 3 months earlier and the child was adopted by a family via the church home she was living in. She worked on getting into college while she was there and she got accepted to a college In Calif. If she never jumps again, Id like to think that on her worst day she can just look at her tandem pictures and remember - If you can jump out of an airplane, you can do anything. It has never been my point for her to remember me, just for her to remember that within herself - she is awesome. So, I support womens skydiving and those women who jump. According to the USPA's records they estimate 14.9 percent of skydivers are women. Which is a lot higher than it used to be. Yesterday, I had replied to this post -yet my DSL crapped out on me and I lost the post and today I went back to Ebay and the item has been removed or is no longer valid or expired or something. I hope she did not get discouraged by any comments in this forum. .................AirAnn.com gives away one tandem skydive along with the Fresh Air Award for personal achievement. Less fortunate individuals who do well despite adversity, ... Women and the very common problem of low self esteem is addressed here. But the award is not limited to women. Any person who surpass difficulties in life and moves forward to achieve higher goals meet the criteria. A person shall be chosen from the nominees ............... ~AirAnn~

Kiwi Lezbo- In case you havent heard... Texas has a couple of dropzones. I know of a real cool skydiver crash place. Complete with swimming pool and real fun people .... Would you like a brochure? Happy ferkin BirthDay, Lezbo. ~AirAnn~

About this "similar story" in the womens forum. I would have put some serious jacuzzi rockets on his ass. But that would be my suggestion. I dont go in that forum. It scares the shyt outta me. I am afraid I would get beat up. I have never understood my women sisters in the first place. All my buddies happen to be guys. They blurt out everything, no hidden agenda ordinarily, no back stabs, no time for gossip, no feelings get hurt, no cryin, and NO malls. Plus, if they want in my freefly pants (or if I want in their freefly pants), you know in about 3 seconds and you get that sorted out and move on. Life simplified, I think? However, since I am a woman I reserve the right to change my mind or personailty and to do every one of the above at my disgression. Its my party and Ill cry if I want to. In addition, if I am grummpy, back the fuk up or _ I _ will _ kill _ you. :

There is a situation with burning fat and throwing off ketones in the blood and a side effect is bad breath. Like the Atkins Diet or a High Protein one. Also, tooth decay and tartar build up is another cause. But the cause isnt the issue. You could put a bottle of mouthwash in the bathroom with some dixie cups. Or find out if he likes peppermints, spearmint or dynamite. And put a jar of them on his desk or your desk. Apply liberally. Good luck. ~AirAnn~

Hey Pyke- Your best friend Cyberskydive sez- Hey Lesbian Lozer, Happy fukin birthday Bubba!! You know we love you, ya Kiwi Lesbian. ~AirAnn~

SO true. The thing is we here in this medium can tell you all day long how I did, how they did, and how you can ... learn to sit. BUT, its for you to find, Grasshopper. When I first was learning. My coach would sit me on a picnic table and say thats is it. He put me against a wall and said that is it. Now go and try it for a billion jumps. And for the most part it was that position. But nothing is exact. Besides he didnt have boobs and his ass was different, that kinda thing. Well, everyone is different. I am so glad to hear you SAT, there you go. Like I said, baby steps, from here you add on to that skill. Headings are great to work on when you are flying solo. I would do mine in a square. Look at a ground item near the horizon and stay on heading, turn 90 degrees and so forth. Then 360's and stop on a dime. Then go the other way. Look up, look down. You will need all these skills later. Get down that task of looking at your alt and not turning. I keep mine on the very side of my wrist so I dont have to turn my hand so much. (Audible Alt is a must) I have seen them on forearms. There is no law on where you put your alt. Next proxcimity, forward and backward movement is super important. You can work solo on this but for real work you will need someone else there so you can see how you are doing. You have to have someone who can get out of the way if you cant stop as fast as you need to. (go slow) A coach hopefully or a real good flyer is ok. If you are a floatie, you can even get a faster falling RW person that is real good. Paramount concern is safety. Remember that controlled slow and small movements are key when you are starting out. Also, when you feel like your sit is pretty well stable. Jump out in a flip and get stable again. Returning to stable is important in any situation. You can also work on flips not so much to have perfect flips but to use them as a learning tool to go from unstable to stable. And they are fun. One more thing... try to get big in a sit. What I mean is go slower. Then also, stand a little to go faster. From what I can tell here, you remind me alot of someone I used to know. You are on your way Sky Sister!! (Shih Tzu in pic is named Olav ZipsTer, Zipster for short) ~AirAnn~

My opinion- A horny gorilla or a train arent going to work too good till you figure out how your body flys. In a train you will peel out and hit someone. In a horny gorilla you wont know how to positon your arms. But you can try it. You are in your infant stages in freeflying. Baby steps. Dont get impatient or anxious. You will have a harder time getting going if you are hard on yourself. I was & still am. Try not to be. Back is kinda easiest, you will wind up there anyway after you flip on your face. Yet you can lose alt awareness. In addition, you are not in a familiar stable position, for example, you already know how to belly fly and get out of trouble, I hope. You can roll over and try again from your belly. Get a friend to film you or get a coach and see what is going on up there. A picture is worth a buncha words and you will see what fact is versus your recall. Get an audible alt. but dont rely on it. WELCOME to the sweetest 14.9 percent of all skydivers. WOMEN ~AirAnn~

Sorry I couldnt make it. I missed the Nakid Pool Party -again- Although, I did not want to make anyone throw up. I have already heard the rumors starting on Monday from all over. ?Fact or Fiction? At any rate the GR have again thrown a really bad-ass event. There is one thing that bothers me.... Levin will not let me have the metals he won to make into a wind chime for my new deck. POOT

2 words -AUDIBILE ALTIMETER- you might think about a helmet also. However, you can rig it into any helmet for now. wrap it in some fabric and safety pin it or something, duct tape it to your head. I did. At 20 jumps. 15 were AFF then 5 were boring solo RW. -erg- I bought my FF suit at Level 10, right off the rack. I knew then where I was going. I just didnt find RW interesting at all. I just never considered it as I recall. If you try headdown first you may get bad habits and get frustrated. Sit first is my advise. Your stable position is a sit in freeflying. If you go to belly to be stable in freeflying you will cork into someone else. While you are learning you will need your belly to learn to sit. Its where your comfortable and stable. You may want to start exiting in a sit in after a little while. Pull high as you would off student stat and tell everyone you are going to. You need to get back stable before you pull. Tell everyone what you are working on. (COMMUNICATION) You will float, flip, and it makes a difference in exit order. Keep your cool. Take it slow. Keep your feet level. If you spin go to belly. Back in the day.. when I started there were ZERO women FFers in Houston. Save one who rocked but she didnt fly anymore. She is still my hero. She did head downs thru formation rounds done by the team www.Deguello.com Then she went around and did it again. She was invited to jump with them. THAT is a huge deal. Read, watch FF training tapes, listen, ask 'stupid' questions as there is no such thing. Believe me, not a soul will think you are a lozer. A lozer is a guy who doesnt ask. Apparently you do not fit into this catagory. As you can tell by this thread many will help you with their opinions. You can summarize them and take what you will. Its a survey. Let me say this, if you are going into FFing because it is a fast growing discipline, then please dont. It is dangerous as hell. I suppose yes, it is "in fashion" nowadays. In fact, at some dz's it looks like they went to the freaking #@%*& mall and picked everyone up. New helmets, gear, dayglow suits, you name it, all the coolest stuff. Concentrate on your skydiving FIRST rather be safe than a fashionable in a wheelchair, or busted up or even a dead guy. (that is MY opinion) Sweat pants and long sleeve t-shirt is absolutely fine. Have someone check your temporary rig and see if the flaps are ok for freeflying. DO NOT go without an audible. Always always check your wrist alt. at all times throughout your skydiving career. My Protrac I wore from AFF till I lost it -in the air-. I didnt even know I lost it as I keep my eye on my wrist. I had every jump on it. I damn near cried, but that is a chick thing. I did a bazillion solo jumps working on my sit and then cartwheels. Till jump 60 or 70. I did these within about a 3 month period. Once you have this, a cartwheel is one way to transition into a headdown. (I did with a coach) Baby steps. Back to your question. Yes, it can be done. I did it. My best friend told me this and he doesnt really say much. I found it harsh till I thought about it. "You arent a Natural. But there are those who work really hard." It is true. AND I feel like 'those' included me, thank you. Trumpetfish, I - worked - my - ass - off - and I mean that in a big way. I never gave up. My friend, you already jumped out of an airplane. Its always been my saying that "If you can jump out of an airplane - you can do anything". Go forth - onward thru the fog - and later, share your thoughts with new guys/gals who just start out. Good Luck. Mainly have fun. Work on it and you will be great. Even like me when I sucked bad, I had fun while learning. Walk away from that sucker. (edit: I messed up on the link thingy) ~AirAnn~

I think the vSCR numbers are inaccurate and misleading. (and they bug me) Not everyone is Vertical in a vSCR. vSCR numbers are given to belly, head, stand and sit. Which to me is a hybrid. By definition vRW is sit and headdown or vertical body flying, I thought. Consider this The Art of vRW says- " Freeflying or Vertical RW (vRW) - An emerging skydiving dicsipline (initially popularized by Olav Zipser, beginning approximately 1986) that focuses on the ability to control levels and proximity while flying vertical positions (initially with the head into the wind.) Today, vertical RW embraces a variety of body positions to fly relative with others at any fall-rate. Freeflyers do their vertical relative work in a variety of modes including head-down, standing, sitting, back flying, and belly flying. Pretty, graceful body form is not the most important aspect in vertical RW; rather, as in all forms of RW precise control of levels and proximity is the main objective. The intent is to be able to fly in any position relative to another skydiver within a space constrained only by time. Compared to "flat" or planar RW vRW is spherical or three-dimensional. Larger formations resemble a swarm of bees more than a dinner plate. To illustrate, RW dives can be stamped out on a flat piece of paper, while vRW dives cannot. Video presentation in from the side or a 3-D spherical point-of-view. " This book is copyrighted 1998, in 2003, maybe the definitions have changed? Likely. Thoughts anyone? ~AirAnn~

VectorBoy & CB- I had to look all over -BUT- Vector is right, the name of the book is The Art of vRW (The Way of Freefly). The movie version is REAL good too. I also found my BASIC canopy flight book and video by Skydive U. Thanks Levin. He gave it to me without a word after I had some 250+ jumps. Another dusty book I found was my ..autographed & sent to me by the author.. Mental Training for Skydiving and Life. I think I now getting the hints.
