I have a LOT to say on all this and I feel like I have experienced enough in my lifetime to comment. In addition, this is a personal extreme lifetime peeve of mine. I was never allowed to see the Disney Film 'Bambi'. Daddy felt that the Hunter was portrayed poorly and could skew the children’s minds against hunters. (LOL) My father has been heavily involved in wildlife conservation his entire life and every bit of mine. I have photos of he and I moving alligators elsewhere, and treating all kinds of injured individuals. He goes to extremes to protect nesting habitats. He doesn’t even reveal their existence. We just protect them when they are there each year. ** Our property is 1100 acres, wooded. 99% is off limits to hunting. We don’t like hunting or fireworks, especially around the Lodge and the Main House. Poachers, Mudders, 4-wheelers, and other wise cheep beer drinkers who think they can waltz onto another persons property and go willy nilly with the ecostructure and fauna. THEN, I hear gunshots, the 4 wheelers get away because they cut the fence. I do know some booby traps however. They ruin many things that they are not likely aware of to name 2 a type of cool fern that they run over, and the nesting Rosette Spoonbill. (threatened here in Tx) And they run off the 100 year plus established deer population. There are real good reasons for hunting seasons and hunting licenses. Seasons are enforced so that stupid people will know its not mating season and its ok to harvest. Licenses to help pay for costs of conservation and etc. About Licenses----- I KNOW 2 individuals who after exhausting their tags.... bought another license and exhausted those tags. I called that one in. Daddy hunts, Caribou, Bear, Deer, Antelope, Russian Boar, some kind of Sheep thing in Montanta. He fly fishes all over US, Amazon, and Europe. He knows his shyt and has written one book already. Airplanes, Alligators and Hi-Fin Blues He is a Former Chairman of Texas and Central Flyway which includes part of Oklahoma for Ducks Unlimited. He is now National Trustee Emeritus for Ducks Unlimited a internationally known conservation organization. I learned very early how to run traps, trotline, freeze ass off in duck and deer blinds and more. I started with my own real weapon at 12 and was mowing down competitors at skeet with a Stevens’s over/under no choke 410. My Dad at the time could do very well with a 22 long rifle. He and I were used to our abilities but others were not. Therefore, I was left until last as a ringer. At age 14 I held through the NRA, metals - Marksman, Marksman First Class, and Pro-Marksman. I hold some Archery Badges as well and am semi proficient at a compound bow. Bear II 165 lb pull. I would have to say at this point that not everyone has the constitution for harvesting their own food. I no longer hunt, but I am most comfortable in the backyard of my youth, which is in the wild with my horse. If I had internet access, I could have been that Fossey lady – Gorillas in the Mist. LOL My Given Responsibilities, if I were to go hunting with my Dad- 1) Don’t take a shot unless you have one. (no gut shots) Worst case senerio- Track till you find it. Toilet Paper always with you to put on limbs to track and for other reasons. 2) You clean it, field and back at the lodge, If you need help ask for it. Ie. Breaking the pelvis bone and not busting the urine sac. (tricky) 3) Prepare and package. That’s about all I have to say about that, I have many thoughts but I am tired of tying. ~AirAnn~

I had to refrain from reading the whole thing as I have read so much about related affairs, puppy mills and ect. This happens SO much you wouldnt believe. Everyone likes (most everyone) kittens and puppies. But they dont like dogs and cats. So stuff like this makes me go nutz. By the way Olav Zipster got a mohawk on Sunday. His head is black with a white stripe down the middle going backwards. So he looks just like a Gremlin. He is a Shih Tzu. LOL ~AirAnn~

That looks like serious fun!! ~AirAnn~

I think pictures where posted of Mr Ferret and there were people in the pictures too. I would notice something like that. I forgot who the people were or where. you just found out? So, its already done and you cant undo it? What about a mob of crazed skydivers lookin for revenge? Whats the dang deal?? -Got rid of- ? Sounds deliberate... They didnt ask for your permission? Or who else Mr Ferret could stay with?? Mr Ferret just evaporated. Vanished, otherwise gone...? Roomates maybe - But not your friends. Now, where do these people live??? ~AirAnn~

Food Poisoning...HELP!!! Send vibes please...
airann replied to VanillaSkyGirl's topic in The Bonfire
Oh dear, bad juju... I had it as a young kid. Mine was Shrimp Cocktail. I would order them all the time. I thought I was so elegant. I was watching John Wayne and we were on a family vacation. Exactly 12 hours later, kawhamo- About died... my stomach pain increased and increased then violent terribleness... everything went out every body orifice. The body detects a bad deal and the only natural thing to do is get it OUT pronto. So it saved your life. Horses cant throw up so they die of colic, for example. Food illness- Its all very convienent as well, just when you are out of town. I sure hope you get better very soon. I belive you should take it very easy for a bit. Indeed a lower immune system doesnt help at all. Best Wishes, Ann ~AirAnn~ -
Man, not only has Skybytch nailed it, she is a good judge of character. Whoo hoo!! ~AirAnn~

I had an Afgan Hound named Gandalf. Anyway- I am glad to have been on the list. I better mark that down, mental note- 1 case of beer, first time not on black list. In addition, the freefly boys that jumped many times with you dont just pick anyone to jump with you know. Guess that is why I was mysteriously on different loads. Indeed you have charm, good nature, sence of humor, (except for skinny, Texas jokes, and leave the Alamo alone) and tons more of excellent qualities like over the top generosity. But moreover, its only your accent. (superficial) We talk and laugh at your jokes only to hear you speak. Also, since you were the new guy, nobody had time to tell you not to hang around me yet. ~AirAnn~

If this were a jumper with no agenda and this happens, I agree with the perception idea. It could be an insurity issue. As in the new girl at school feeling. We cant take first impressions from other women or men as fact. Many times I have been so wrong about persons/people. It takes a little time. Not everone instantly likes someone. If you havent given a person a chance then you may never know. The only way to overcome this is to take control seek out the girls yourself and say Hello. I welcome all when I am somewhere, but alot of times people are dirt diving, getting ready for loads and then packing for another. These of course, are serious checks and rechecks, getting mentally prepared and etc. I would not want to interupt this process, I dont think you would either. Persons at a dropzone will take time to meet and greet at some point. The longer you are there, the more opportunity for fellowship. So for other readers, this sounds like an isolated incident and we cant know all the things going on here. And its not our concern. Nor should we conclude that Arizona Skydiving Coolidge is a place to shy away from or any DZ that gets these 'reviews. I made a bad call once and regretted it in my heart. I was wrong. But if you post a gut feeling (for the time) once you post it you cant take it back. So, girls and guys, make you own mind up from your own experiences. Just my idea on the matter- AA ~AirAnn~

This is what I wanted too. I wanted to be at home. Mainly, I wanted my mother there for the waiting part. After all preliminary testing I was sent to a thorasic friend of my doctor and he said surgery. With help again, I had a T-time with the cold surgical table the next morning. He also did plastic so my scar is only 4 inches. For me the test results wait was the worst part. As you can tell here, I dont like to wait. Everyone sign it. Doctors make decisions, not Insurance Companies. ~AirAnn~

So, he still has a lot left right? ~AirAnn~

Those shots are really great... Looks hella good times. About those pictures- Can I get them autographed?? ~AirAnn~

I tipped my cable guy when he came out to turn it off. He told me he could fix it whereby I could still have cable for $50. I have had it for almost 2 years. He still works for the Cable Company. I did not tip my JM'S (sorry) and I had no idea that others did. I was so concerned and preoccupied about other things when I was learning to skydive, I guess I didnt realize. People said I was intense. I was just keeping to myself due to the fact I took it real seriously. My JM's never held that against me. They were charming, ever so patient and unbelievably kind. They are lovely individuals to this very day. I believe they were teaching myself and others because they enjoyed it and not to get tipped for their efforts, per se. Having said, that my JM's should have been paid extra for my teaching from the dz and myself for the challenge. I only had one JM at a time. Not one on each side. To say I was a handful is not quite adequate. Not that I sucked so badly in the air, it was how I communicated on the ground. They were sure I did not get it. (I think) ~AirAnn~

This is outrageous. GUYS go and VOTE, it could be your girlfriend, sister or Mother. It take only a second or two of your time. Insurance stipulations regarding major surgery like a Mastectomy is a blatant disregard for the patients well being. Not to mention the fact that any illness of any kind will, (hello? Cancer), increase the amount of time it takes for a person to heal. I might like to go home faster than another person, but not 48 to 72 hours. If it were my Mother I would raise hell like you have never seen. Medical Insurance policies continue to infuriate me. Luckily for my patients I know how to negociate extened stay for patients proper care as directed by their physicians orders. It can be done, yet this is another loop you have to jump through. In the advent of reduced spending via PPO's HMO's IPA's and etc, the phycians get paid less. The trickle down shows up in the staff. The majority of staff persons do not know the first thing about the science of the medical field, only how to fill out a HCFA form and the patient suffers again. If a precert person can not get extended care and accepts the Insurance minimal stay stipulations, then we are all screwed. Thank God I have never been exposed to a physican who would ever accept this limited stay thing as the rule. The physican says how long - not a policy. MAD ~AirAnn~
