  5. I've got 40+ under t-10's...sometimes, I think it would have been better to just have rolled myself up in the thing and throw myself out the door...the landing would have been softer, especially the -1000 foot jumps. Swing, Swing, swing, SLAM Skydiving isn't scary;...but clowns...CLOWNS are scary!
  6. I did a color change on mine and decided to use the new rustoleum plastic paint, which is made basically for painting pvc lawn furniture. Anyway, it says you need no surface prep, since it's supposed to bond with the plastic, but I'd suggest using maybe some 440 paper just to give it a little tooth. Other than that, the shell like paint.... Skydiving isn't scary;...but clowns...CLOWNS are scary!

  10. yeah. I jump at Skydive Newport. They really don't get into fun jumpers, it's mainly a tandem business rather than a DZ. It's Just a landing area at a small airport. I'm one of the priviledged few I guess. It's basically because this area is so full of lunatics that if anyone ever had an accident they would be storming the gates before the dust settled. ya gotta remember that this is the same community that wouldn't let Real World/Road Rules film here because of the "riffraff". It would have been 4 million dollars worth of riffraff....which all went to colorado and had a great time I hear..... Skydiving isn't scary;...but clowns...CLOWNS are scary!
  11. If you read closely, I said that the US was traditionally off limits to attacks.....and that was in fact the case. The Attack in 1993, which was also a chemical weapon attack as well, albeit a failed one, violated that premise that was held by the groups that operated in the US under false pretenses. If you read my post further, I stated that we could wipe out anyone we choose, which we don't. I'm not sure what you are disagreeing with me about in that regard, but we both seem to say that we could, but don't. The next section we agree to disagree, the 2001 attack changed many, many things. Not the constitution, but some ways in which it is applied IMHO. Luckily, the document is as flexible as it is viable. That's what has ensured it's existence for over two centuries. We are nowhere near that of a police state...I've been in those types of places..this isn't one of them. Previous conflicts were endured with uniformed forces attacking our way of life. This is a slightly different situation, and we are using a different tactic to meet the potential threat. We shifted out tactics slightly after 1993, and after 2001 we shifted once again. We do the best we can...but we are not bearing a resemblance to a police state by any means. Skydiving isn't scary;...but clowns...CLOWNS are scary!
  12. If your office going to be in warwick then check apartments in warwick or north kingston. The closer to providence or newport the higher the rent, so those two palces are a good bet . Skydiving isn't scary;...but clowns...CLOWNS are scary!
  13. middle eastern males between the age of 17 and 40. United Nations report dated 2000 HOWEVER...nothing I've written here, regardless of my expertise in the area, is, nor ever will, be meant to imply that I think that ALL of any ethnic group is bad, or a threat. Some groups have a higher percentage of individuals willing to cause us harm, but even in those groups, those that are a threat are a very small percentage. Simply be aware that bad things exist in the world....treat everyone with respect until they prove themselves as individuals to not deserve it, then take whatver action you feel appropriate. We CAN just get along, except for the bastards that don't want to....then the rest of us can kick their asses Skydiving isn't scary;...but clowns...CLOWNS are scary!
  14. Actually, I was there in 93, as I was in 2001. Different factions with different command authority which didn't go up the chain as the 2001 WTC did. You are right however in that 2001 wasn't the first..... Skydiving isn't scary;...but clowns...CLOWNS are scary!
  15. I'm in RI. Prices are through the roof comapred to the rest of the country, but if you want cool paces to live, look either in newport or the east side of providence. I don't know anyone personally with any apartments, but now's a good time to look since it's off season and the rents are lower....try looking at oso.com.... 16. Ok, my two cents........ The US was traditionally off limits to attack by middle eastern terror groups over the past four decades. If they attacked US soil, they would ruin the ability they had to run freely throughout the US and even hold anti american annual conventions thoughout the eighties and nineties in which they planned terrorist strikes against US interests off US soil. The rest of the world has been, and is still, open game for terror groups. September 2001 changed the rules, we became a member of the world target list here on US soil. We are the biggest superpower on the planet, plain and simple. We do not claim to have a perfect plan for dealing with these issues, but we have the plan we are going to use. It has flaws, and these flaws will occasionally cause people who are innocent, to be caught up in the situation. It is truly an unfortunate fact. However, if attacked, we will react with great force, because we can. We have the ability to eradicate any country on the face of the earth if we so choose, but we do not. Other governments have tried to accomplish this, and primarily failed due to our interventions. We aren't perfect...but we aren't stupid either. We know that we must use methods that we had not previously used...and so we should. That's just the way this world is.....to put it simply, ..we may be the best friends you might ever have, or the worst enemy...so don't piss us off. 19. On September 12, 2001 I saw that book laying in what was once World Trade Building 5....I'm thinking they didn't cover all the worst case scenarios.... Although maybe we should all practice landing using only one hand on a toggle, ya know, just in case we're all wrong... Skydiving isn't scary;...but clowns...CLOWNS are scary!
  20. My Tri 190 snivels for an easy 800 to a grand too...sometimes it seems like forever watching the slider work down, but it's better than getting a slammer! Skydiving isn't scary;...but clowns...CLOWNS are scary!

  22. Don't know if this means anything or not....but for me one of the things about this sport is that there's a brotherhood in it that ois very much like there is with firefighters. I was in NYC from Sept 11 through Sept 22, 2001 digging out what I hoped would be my friends and brothers from this job. It takes a long time to be able to find your "balance" again after a loss like you guys have had. A year after the world trade collapse, my team was standing again at ground zero for the first time since the incident. There were about 6 of us crying our eyes out, thinking about all the "I should have, could have" kinds of crap. Then, the biggest joker we know, a total nut case 99.9% of the time, walked between the rest of us, put his arms on around our shoulders, and said "It's time to let them rest". That was a huge realization. You aren't anywhere near that point yet, I know, but you will be. That time will come...I promise bro. A day never passes without my thinking about it...ok, probably a couple hours never passes without thinking about it...but the time spent on it gets shorter. Life is never the same....but it gets better, because that's what our brothers want, just like we would. good luck..... Skydiving isn't scary;...but clowns...CLOWNS are scary!

  24. Those "not so much" landings were ass-surfing events. Potentially these were partly caused by my being used to the 9 cell I learned on and and waiting for that pop-up at the end of the flare, which never came of course. The canopy is loaded at about 1.08/1. I also won't yet be playing with s-turning on final, I'd rather keep the thing squared up, especially since I'm still trying to get the sink rate burned into my brain so I can get even better at accuracy. 25. Jumping on the coastline pretty much guarantees that in the mornings there's light winds, than after 1 pm they come in off the water and often kick up pretty hard. The last five low/no wind landings went better. I did however, end up PLF'ing one yesterday in high winds for the exact reason mentioned in this thread, reaching out with the low side hand as the canopy slid off a bit...it was noticed right away and is now stored in my skull under a file called "impo'tent shit". Thanks for the advice all, keep it coming, as I still have lots of room in that file!! Skydiving isn't scary;...but clowns...CLOWNS are scary!
